    Looks great! I'd look into going past a car paint protection film (PPS) application company and ask then to do either a Matt or the shiny regular PPS on the stick!? It'll be cheap as the sticks are small and they can use offcuts! If it protects million $ super/hypercar paintwork against chips etc at high speed it'll protect yr stick! Also ultra thin so most probably won't need play with it at top and bottom fitting grips and into floor... Vinyl gets sticky messy, not? Hope that helps! Love your channel. Blessings Andrew B

      That’s exactly the product I’m using, I may have used the wrong terminology. I found a trim sized roll of this stuff on Amazon. It’s a Satin Black color almost the same as what I painted the control sticks.

  • @markmanley1070

    Have you thought about using heat shrink tubing on the sticks rather than vinyl wrap?

    • @aviationkitbuilder
      @aviationkitbuilder 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The stuff I’m using comes in a ton of colors and sheens and such which I liked. It actually is somewhat of a shrink wrap in that it tightens up and activates the adhesive with heat.

    Awesome job! What an adventure to say the least. Question regarding the brake upgrade with larger calipers: It looks as though if a tire goes flat, the tire could 1) hit the side of the caliper, 2) the caliper will then be lower than the wheel and potentially hit the ground. Perhaps the original caliper was mounted that low and would pose the same issues? And of course this is only based on seeing what is in your videos, but wanted to ask and bring to your attention if potential issue.

    • @aviationkitbuilder
      @aviationkitbuilder หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hadn’t given that any thought, but there is almost always a cost somehow to making upgrades, even if it’s just time or cost. I looked at my pictures but don’t have a good angle to really tell if there’s an issue. I will take a look when I get off work.

    I think Evan is just omitting the exhaust shroud now. All that body fill near the heat source makes it likely to crack. More trouble than it's worth.

      @@OneAlphaMike Interesting. I don’t think I really looked at it without the shroud. I gave a pretty big gap all the way around the exhaust but It will certainly still get hot. Maybe some reflective paint there would help.

    I don’t think so, due to the way the door was angled. There isn’t any flex in the doors and I was worried about over stressing them with the straps during window install and didn’t go very tight. But anything’s possible.

  • @N69erMikeBravo

  • @tylerp6375

    My Milwaukee gun has pulled about 1000 rivets on my fabric install so far with minimal jams - maybe two or three times. I removed the o-ring and ball bearing on the nosepiece that retain the stem. That allows the stem to drop back into the catch can easily. My only complaint is the handle size is too large (I have big hands too, wouldn’t be ergonomic for someone with smaller hands).

    • @aviationkitbuilder

    I have the Harbor Freight one and it jams constantly on the small rivets, the better rivet guns have 3 jaws, the HF only has 2 jaws and the rivet pin gets stuck between the two jaws very often, it's super annoying to have to keep pulling it apart to free the pin that's supposed to get ejected.

If you want more headroom, keep in mind seat gets lower as it goes farther back, so if you move the rudder pedals out (towards the back of the plane), it will push you further back and you can slide the seat another notch back, giving you the headroom you want.
