- Sling TSI Build Update. This update covers the rear fuselage including wiring, insulation, magnetometer, Aithre Oxygen Control equipment, Static Ports.
I'm not doing the parachute but did the pre-cabled canopy. That cable tray doesn't line up to anything that makes sense except for the top skins. I wound up just doing some match-drilled holes.
Be prepared for some real work getting those cables coiled up when you put that tray into place... I was breathing hard and breaking out in a sweat because you have to coil them up pretty small and that definitely is hard work! :)
I’ve actually debated cutting them off. I bought them when I thought it might be a re- sale advantage but have debated the weight and time to get them routed. I’m not sure the likelihood of me selling the plane to someone some day and them adding a parachute later.
@@aviationkitbuilder I think it would be a good re-sale add on if someone were to want them. If you cut them off then they DEFINITELY couldn't be used. :D
Just wait until you get to putting some rivets in on the front section where it intersects with the cable and the fuselage. I'm still trying to figure that one out - which will be soon.
Thank you for posting this. Really appreciate the details and you do great work! Question on the static ports. I did the same thing and ordered 2 not realizing each “kit” contained 2 ports LOL. For securing the tubing to the ports what are you using? The ports seems to have very little material on the back side to secure the tubing.
With the tubing I used it took a lot of force to get them on so I felt pretty good. I put a zip tie over them after debating about using safety wire. I thought the wire might cut into the tube over time so I used a zip tie.
@@aviationkitbuilder Ok that sounds like a good decision. I have a QB so my access is a bit more challenged but I like the idea of placing the ports in that area rather than up front. Thank you!
Can you share which Amazon insulation you used?
Also, where did you source the Y connector for the static port?
I purchased the insulation from amazon and I’ll post the link to it. Just fair warning, its not aircraft approved or anything so do your own testing on it. Have you talked somewhere else about the paint you’re using on the interior surfaces?
Way back in the early TH-cam videos I did. The lighter green is Akzo Nobel 2 part chemical resistant epoxy primer you can buy at Aircraft Spruce. The dark green is rattle can etching primer and the gray is a Nasson 2 part Epoxy. My Akzo Nobel expired and got chunky so I switched to the grey which is also more suitable for top coating which I did on the seat parts and a few visible areas.
@@aviationkitbuilder Ah ok. So the grey Nason 2k product that’s visible, that’s a primer technically but can also serve as the top coat for those areas? (If I’m reading you correctly). Does it also have chromates/corrosion inhibitors in it like the Akzo product or no?
@@ericlaw2416 the grey has corrosion inhibitors but I’m not sure it’s considered a cromated primer like the Akzo Nobel. You can leave both of them without a top coat but I have a Nasson Eurethane top coat I’m spraying on top of the grey primer in some instances where it will be visible after carpet goes in.

@@ericlaw2416 Yes using the Nason paint and primer on the canopy and doors which is the main reason I got this paint.
