In this video I refer to Chef AJ's podcast with Dr. Lederman during which she reveals the test results of a recent lung biopsy, and discusses the ramifications of the results with him. At the end of their poignant conversation she outlined 7 positive principles by which she will focus in this coming year. How is juicing different? Can you choose juicing or smoothies?
Hi Mauimom, they are not the same at all, because a smoothie leaves everything intact, though it breaks it down into much smaller pieces. A juice extract everything except the juice, meaning you get no fiber, and some of the polyphenols and other photo nutrients are left in the pulp. I hope this was helpful.🌻🥰🌻
Hi @nansimonsen I am wiling to start Dr. Goldner protocol of hypernourishment. I have a question. how many pounds of raw leafy green vegetables should be consumed per day? How many pounds of other(non leafy) raw vegetables should be consumed?
Hi! Good question! For hyper nourishment,-At least 1 pound of deep leafy green/cruciferous vegetables, 1/2 cup flax or chia, or 3 tbsp of their cold pressed oil, and 96 oz or more water. If you’re on the Goodbye Lupus protocol the rest of what you are eating is raw- mainly vegetables, with an emphasis on the deep, leafy, green and cruciferous vegetables, but others can be included. Fruit is kept to 25% by volume or less. I hope that’s helpful. Happy new year!🎉

I was drawn into the Video by the sight of a purdy lady with a split pea soup recipe, but alas; I do not own one them there new-fangled "instant pots" so I reckon I'll just have to suffer on with my medium sized stovetop pan/pot. Uggh.
Hey gospelgary you can make this soup in your stovetop pan. Start it the same way, bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer, then cover and cook until the peas are broken down. That can take anywhere between 1-2 hours (depending on their age, or whether they were pre-soaked). Enjoy! 🌻😌🌻
You mentioned keeping it in a sealed container in the fridge, how long do you think it will keep before going bad?
I would guess for many weeks in the refrigerator. I have left it in a jar in my cupboard for a couple of weeks with no problem. 🌻☺️🌻

I LOVE LOVE LOVE quinoa. I miss it so much. I was already planning on making quinoa my first “step down” food. It’s so healthy, delicious, and versatile. ❤ I’ve never had toasted quinoa before and I look forward to making it in the near future.

This was awesome! I hit and miss with quinoa, especially now that I'm plant based. I use to use chicken broth, now I use veggie broth and sometimes rosemary to give it flavor. I think the insta pot is a great idea. I have heard that you are supposed to brown it before cooking, have you heard that before?

Hi, good question. The smoothie alone, when made as I do, is over 900 calories, and on step-down I eat lots of legumes, quinoa, potatoes, some nuts, and fruit. It works to help keep my weight steady. I hope that is helpful. 🌻🥰🌻

Very good list. It shows you put thought into it. Christmas Eve I made WFPB SOS lasagna and WFPB SOS apple crisp for dessert. The family loved them (seconds on everything.) For Christmas day we are going to a renowned Indian restaurant (21 Spices, Chef Asif) which has a dedicated vegan menu with oil free and GF free options. This way everyone has a lovely meal. It is a splurge, but worth it. Finally, I am 8 days younger than you are - LOL. Happy New Year! 🙂

Wow, "10 good habits". An interesting format for sure... 1. hydration (yes, lol, the kale smoothie forces me to drink enough water.) I have to remix the constitution in the blender with kale several times to thin it out.) 2. Eat the color of the rainbow. (No, maybe at some point.) 3. Prioritize omega 3s. (No, I'm still trying to learn more on this. I haven't ruled it out, but I'm not doing it yet.I'm from the "fat free" mindset.) 4. Limit processed food. ( I think I can actually say yes to this point. Though today's meal , Christmas meal(and overall snacking) will probably violate this.) 5. Body movement... Yes. Jog for an hour. Starting to work on pushups. 6. Writing down 3 things... I write down my numbers each day and everything I consume. So, if I'm not greatful, things will change. 7. Getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep each day... No, working on this 8. Practice mindful eating... Yes, sort of... I precount my calories each day so I know where I'm at. 9. Nourish your social connections. Yes, many of us will gather over the holidays. But probably need to more daily. 10. Say out loud something I like about myself. I'd say yes to a degree. I'll pat myself on the back for example if I get through my green smoothie or run my lap pace at a good level.
What a fun and honest review of your habits. I’ll say your that you’re doing well. With your kale smoothie, hydration, running, you are setting a strong foundation for yourself. Don’t be afraid of the fat in the flax/chia seeds (though I worried about that too at first), the omega 3 fatty acids are very focused on cellular repair. Also, your brain will love you if you get your sleep to a steady 7, or more, hours a day. Indeed you should be patting yourself on the back Charles!🌻🥰🌻
