Brother! Are you still painting!? I hope you will post again!! I miss you ❤❤❤️🇨🇦
Thank you for the tips.
What kind of printer does one need to buy to make these stencils?
That’s sick
Love it Man!!!!
Thanks for the video - Great Job !!!!
Damn... this is insane. So amazing dude
Seriously beautiful. Holy crap. Just started airbrushing, and this is a perfect example of the type of quality that I would be proud to ever even achieve an 8th of, hell even a 16th.
Great shown. Indeed, the difference is huge and the camera showed it well. Thank you very much for your time. Have a nice day.
Curious how you masked the "bauer" on the front of the mask. Did you mask the original manufacturer name or did you create your own?
I made my own for this mask. Sometimes I will mask the factory logo but usually I sand them off and use a sealer on the entire mask before starting the artwork.
@@JayPlant Great thank you. I figured you created your own mask. Do you use a cricut to create the mask? i'd love to see a video of how you prepare the mask with vinyl sometime.
@@davestockmann I use a Roland GS24 cutter and create the stencils in Corel Draw. Nothing wrong with a Cricut though. Lots of people use them. I may make a video sometime. Good idea.
@@JayPlant Cool thanks. I'm just doing my own mask so something that large is just too pricey. Though it would be cool to have something like that. I'm going to do something like Jake Allens mask and I need to create a vinyl template for the boxes he has on the mask. Never done something like this before. What brand of vinyl did you use to make your stencils? I know on one you had some sort of stencil for the different card suits. I think that is something that I will need to use for my stencil. Thanks for all the help too by the way!
@@davestockmann I use Avery White Paintmask. Something with a medium tack will work fine. Oracle also makes a paintmask.
Your helmets are amazing...you're a machine!...
This is incredible probably the best helmet you have made!
Is this the best Tamco Clear or the high solids clear better. Never used any high solids clear yet but want to use a better clear than have used in the past and I saw a video someone had on TH-cam Tamco had the best paint on market. I used Speedkote clear but the regular clear and used Nason flat black sealer and some other auto paint brands and used Starfire basecoat metallic paints got more of it last year but want to use a better clear I got new spray guns Ronpeng professional lvlp spray guns last year so will be using them plus will start using a fast activator even though have a infrared 1500 watt light could use to cure paint now but probably won't be painting for some months from now have to set up exhaust fan in garage never used a exhaust fan yet only been trying to paint almost two years now but haven't had a paint job turn out really good to my liking yet get orange peel too much.
Beautiful mask. Just a thought for your viewers.....I know it is easier to turn the mask to help you, but it makes it harder to follow on camera. I've seen others leave the mask in place and move around it as needed. Great finished product, though!
Jay how long would it take to vectorize something like this? Did the customer give you a sketch??
In this case the customer did the entire design and sent me a rendering and all the images. Vectoring was around 3-4 hours I think.
Can you use urethane based paints for goalie helmets? Or is it not safe for the material?
The high-pitched coach neurochemically squeeze because trumpet topically mark of a lowly horse. disgusted, alluring ketchup
What kind paint are you using for this? It looks great.
How much you charge to do a mask
I wish I knew how to use coral draw and the vector process. I need an apprenticeship! I have been following your channel for a long time now and its great you're back.
Glad your back. Miss these videos
Dude you’re a beast
Hey Jay, I have probably watched all your videos in the past, and still wonder...what vinyl masking are you using? I generally use Oracal with success but the blue/transparent is not flexible for curved areas and the white removable seems to leave residue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Great work mate!
Avery White Paintmask. I believe Oracal makes products specifically for waterbased and one for solvent based.
Welcome back!!!!!! ❤️
You're amazing!!!😱 #rosadesign on facebook
Holy crap, had to be alot of time creating and vectorizing the artwork
When doing the hearts and diamonds on the chin, I noticed you did some black spray before the red. I'm curious as to why?
A red pearl candy is sprayed lightly over the black to give it a red sparkle when the light hits it just right.
You mentioned using automotive PPG paints. I assume this means they are solvent based? If so, is the only reason pretty much that they dry faster than water-bourne paints?
That's one of the reasons. I find them faster to work with in general.
Nice work 👍🏾 Looks good
Awesome work, Jay! This looks great! Everyone loves the 2 masks you did for me.
You should start a patreon or similar page!!
Right on! Welcome back jay!! I have such a hard time with the sequence of masks!!!
Amazing work!! I wish you would post the video at a slower speed, it's hard to follow the process at this speed and try learn tips from you.
Pretty sweet. Dude you’re a bad ass creator That Uncle Sam decal really set that off!!!!
Outstanding job. I bet you could do some cool stuff with a Harvey Two-Face design
Greetings from Chicago quick question what material are u using for the name and numbers
The vinyl is Avery Paintmask. Available at most sign supply shops.
@@JayPlant jay thank you so I hope I'm not taking up any of busy schedule I'm just trying to learn everything I possibly can from u
What's your process for creating a clean sharp looking reflective fx
I see that you are mixing airbrushing with vinyl decals
In this case the vinyl is just used for mapping and stencils. No decals on the finished mask.
@@JayPlant oh ok mind if I pick your brain I want learn everything from beginning to end by watching your videos
@@JayPlant one last question can u airbrush over vinyl
Wow that's nuts I would like learn your techniques what materials do u use to make them look like that
hi, how long does it take to create such a helmet
I think a lot of the current nhl masks are getting too abstract and too busy. I’d love to see guys go retro, e.g. habs price wear a mask with retro painting of ken Dryden paint job. Or bruins rask go with Cheever’s stitches. Heck while they’re at it take their lag pads, blocker and catcher back to brown leather, like flyers goalie did for outdoor game. Would love that.
since he won 2 stanley cups...he never changed it
Dam that is a good helmet that would be could to get a custom one
bro I needed you when I still played goalie.
All the videos that you posted, was each mask painted in one day? So each video is one continuous shot and not spliced together.
Hell no lol. Some may be one day. Most are 2 days. Maybe 3. All the videos are edited. I take a break every hour or so.
@@JayPlant Cool. Thanks for the response. I was thinking about doing a time-lapse video on the next helmet I'm working on. I just didn't want to have to complete it on one sitting. lol
I would hate to attempt a portrait that small.
What type of paint pen are you using for the fine-line work and any black touch-ups?
I'm really impressed with how you vectored the goalies and was able to make a vinyl mask for each one. Very cool.
Is it my imagination or was your gun in the way of the camera most of the time ????
Great paint but the music was so bad I skipped the whole video and just saw the end result... that music was atrocious
Your shit doesnt have volume control?!
