In this video, I cover one of the most common challenges patients face inside a hyperbaric chamber: ear pressure and the difficulty of equalizing it. The inability to equalize ear pressure is one of the few contraindications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, but it’s manageable with the right techniques.
I’ll walk you through the top 5 methods to equalize ear pressure, so you can practice these yourself or, if you’re a practitioner, teach them to your patients. By preparing in advance, you can help patients avoid discomfort and ensure a smoother experience inside the chamber.

      I agree. I also wouldn't make a health decision based on an interview. Interview should never be considered a medical advice. However, this information might prompt you search further and contact a health practitioner who is well versed in your health condition and in the therapy that you are planning to use. Doing research like watching TH-cam videos means that you are taking responsibility for your health, and it is great. However, to make an informed decision, you should always contact a health practitioner. To your point, there are many studies on HBOT and cancer, and many practitioners use HBOT as integrative therapy, however there are nuances and therapy brings results in the hands of a skilled practitioner. All the best, and please let us know if you have any questions

    We have a mild hyperbaric pod (by Henshaw) that only gets up to 1.4 atmospheres, but still we get people complaining of discomfort during the pressurization/depressurization processes. To try and limit discomfort, I slightly open the pressure release valve so the pod pressurizes more slowly, and I have had good experience with this method. Have you ever done something like this in your practice?

      @@gablake key is make sure that your clients are equalizing pressure in the ears while the chamber is pressurizing. There is an optimum speed of pressurization to minimize the risk of middle ear barotrauma is 2psi/min. How effective is a soft hyperbaric chamber in the treatment of Parkinson’s? Would using a hard chamber be better? It’s difficult to find a place offering treatment using a hard hyperbaric chamber where we live. Just wondering if we’re wasting time and money using a soft chamber. Thank you so much for your videos. They have been very helpful.

    • @hyperbaric
      @hyperbaric 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Parkinson's disease is on the list of "off-label" indications for HBOT. There is scientific evidence that HBOT, when used as an adjunctive therapy, helps slow down progression of Parkinson's. In terms of the chamber, I would look into it in terms of pressure. For a neurodegenerative disease mild pressures ( below 2ATA) are used. 1.3 ATA in a soft chamber falls into this range. Whether or not 1.3 ATA is an optimal pressure, it is determined by carefully examining the whole health situation of the patient. Frequency and number of sessions in the case of neurodegenerative disease like Parkinson's is very important as well. For more questions please send me an email info@drmasha.com

How many weeks was this for, and when might the treatments be repeated, i.e., every 6 months? If she was using Hardshell HBOT, what would be the time and frequencies be for treatment. Would the softshell treatments go on longer? Thanks! It us really hard to find out this info.

    • @hyperbaric
      @hyperbaric 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi. The reason why it is hard to find this info, is because we do not prescribe HBOT for a condition, we prescribe it to a person with a health condition. In order to put together the best HBOT protocol for a particular person, we need to take into consideration many details: health situation, symptoms, diagnosis, concomitant therapies, accessibility and availability of a chamber. Since these variables are different for every person, the protocols are different too. I suggest consulting with a practitioner to get them put together the protocol and to oversee the course of treatment. It always work out to be the best path

      With HBOT for almost any indication MULTIPLE sessions are needed. If not, the effect is marginal. In my experience, those who finished the x number of sessions felt a huge relief in their symptoms. As a naturopathic doctor I personally believe in combination of therapies for the best effect. I have seen really good results when HBOT was combined with life changes and other therapies. In my opinion for those deeply affected by long COVID (myself included) HBOT can be quite helpful. If you are still suffering from Ling COVID I wish you all the best in your recovery.

While I can go longer on the treadmill and my heart rate stays reasonable, it’s kind of low the rest of the time. Eg will be in the 50’s or 60’s hanging around, which makes it tough to get motivated. My suggestion, find a clinic/practitioner who will "walk" you though the process, explain everything, etc. Usually by session #3 anxiety will dissipate and you will feel really comfortable.

    I purchased a soft chamber and it goes to 1.5 ATA. I have one hour each morning after 20 minutes full body red/infra red therapy. I am 76 with no medical conditions. I am surprised I have been able to tolerate 1 hour session at 1.5ATA every morning without stopping today is day 17. It feels blissful at times. I know I am on the road to improved healthspan and life span---maybe I am cheating I also use about 1 hour browns gas/hydrogen breathing each day and PEMF, they all work well together, no intolerance or overstimulation

    Hi Dr Marsha, whay use 1.3 ATA generally for new patients my feeling is to use 1.5 ATA generally with oxygen generator, unless the person is very sensitive/poor anti-oxidant status- what are your thoughts on that ?

    • @hyperbaric
      @hyperbaric 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! I generally start with 1.3ATA. And then depending on a person’s health goals, other therapies that might be using concurrently, frequency pf the sessions and health conditions, I might go higher in pressure. But not always and not for everyone. I guess, key is individual approach

    Did you stop HBOT completely after the two months, or transition in to a maintenance schedule? Glad you found a way to cure the brain fog! My mum is having similar symptoms and we were worried for a while but realised it is likely also to do with the menopause. I will show her this video.

    • @hyperbaric

      Great question. I continued with HBOT, I think I completed 5 months of HBOT at 4 sessions a week on average. I have now stopped and I didn't have any HBOT for 2 months. Brain fog has not returned. I am planning to do another series of HBOT sessions (3 months +) soon

      @hyperbaric Great to read it hasn't returned. Would there be any benefit to contuining indefinitely with say 1 or 2 sessions per week? Or is it better to stop completely for a while? Thank you for the responses 👍

    • @hyperbaric
      @hyperbaric หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@liamc7097 There are different schools of thought on that. It can be done both ways, absolutely. I personally prefer to stop for a while.

    Interesting video. Sounds like both high and low pressures have their benefits. I didn't know more oxygen becomes available purely by being in a pressurised environment. Do you know what would happen to you if you were in a 1.5ATA soft shell chamber and it burst? I have one at home and have recently started obsessing over this scenario and it is affecting my sessions. Thanks for the video. Liked and subscribed.

    • @hyperbaric
      @hyperbaric หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. Glad you are enjoying our content. Hyperbaric chambers have protective mechanisms installed in them to avoid the scenario you just mentioned. Even if these protective mechanisms fail which is very-very unlikely, the worst that will happen is an ear trauma from the sudden pressure change. Some parts will let go first, others next, meaning that the air will escape but the chamber will never burst into pieces.

      @hyperbaric thanks so much. I always imagined it popping how a balloon would but good to know it's built differently.
