Im pretty sure this is for demonstration it looks doable on the bike ive only ever had hi beam blow out and its a pain but if your used to the struggle of tight areas but everything is so modular built . still enjoy the video i was curious if there is much difference being the wife hit deer in r350 mercedes and wants brighter lights and they h7 bulbs as well not sure if there on can bus but will check

So, after all of this doesn't work and the either trick doesn't either because today's staring fluid, though is says it has either and a lot of other stuff too, will only do a slow burn. So what do you do then? Get a clamp on air chuck at Harbor Freight, and some Slime from Wall Mart. Put the Slime all the way around both beads and some inside the tire, then inflate. If you want to bounce the tire as it fills, now you can, or hit the tire with a hammer if you like, but mine sealed Easily with the Slime. Now I have a bunch of straps I might never use again.

What should I do after all of that doesn't work? I took it to a car tire shop, and they said they could not touch a motorcycle wheel for liability reasons. This nation needs tort reform. I like the old America better.

Big thank you to David and Steve for exploring and documenting this route. Rode it last month on my R1200GSA and it was very enjoyable. Only a couple short challenging sections, but mostly nice gravel roads. Big bike friendly.

Thank you very much for this instruction. I also have a Sertao. The idea where to install the oiler is very, very helpfully to me! I already installed the oiler on a Honda NT 1100. But there the mirror holder is a good position. At the BMW this is not possible. So I am very thankful for your idea in the case of the Sertao. interesting test... how do we know for sure that the bypass didn't open and allow unfiltered oil/slurry into the plate on any of the tests? if the bypass opened at any time for even a split second contaminants would be allowed to bypass the filter.. (other than the bypass screens in the couple that had them).. i'm not sure how much pressure the syringe made.. but if some of these bypass valves upen as low as 2psi.. it would seem that many, if not all, might be opened easily by very low pressure on the plunger.. like i said,i'm not sure.. but it seems like you could overpower at least some of the bypass springs easily.. which i guess shows in the testing.. the best is the best regardless of if it opens or not..

That happend to me, a partial bead on one side. As soon as I put it on the bike and rode 100' the tire unbeaded on that side and the tire deflated.

I'll have to study how to properly thread the ratchet so it will release afterwards. I've had to cut many straps out of frustration because they wouldn't release and then throw them away.

I hate fooling with ratchet straps, don't ever thread them right and they won't release afterwards so I usually end up cutting them free and throwing them away. I won't use lighter fluid and light the rubber on fire to heat up the bead either.

So how can one tell if the bolt is bent if you are going to buy a used F8gs?

Hi David, an exhaustive and good video about the conversion process. I have a question: after the whole process of sealing the rim, is it mandatory to mount a tubeless tire on the rim? Or can you use a "normal" tire only without the inner tube?

Your video solved the mystery of removing the oem pump from the housing of my 07RT. After banging my head against the wall for several hours, and about to surrender to ordering an oem pump, I found your video. The video showed the trick of carefully nudging the filter base from the pump housing and saved the day (and my wallet). Thank you so very much.

Legendary video! Thank you for the effort! With all this knowledge mounting of any tire in the field should be piece of cake now. Removal of the Motoz Tractionator Adventure will be probably a little bit more difficult as it wouldn't be easy to fit the zip ties in. But in the worst case it could be substituted by little wooden or plastic blocks / spacers which would fit in between the tire bead and the rim, forcing the tire to the center of the rim.

i know someone who did this with a can of beer in junior high school. unfortunately he got sent home for being drunk and smelling like a beer factory.

Bought it, spent 4 hours trying to figure out how to use it and threw it in the bin.

I appreciate the knowledge you have provided myself with solutions to repairing a tire that’s not only flat but has come off the wheel. This has happened to me recently and although I repaired the tire I lacked the knowledge to reset the bead. Most of us have a ratchet set but don’t have the nylon sleeve needed to set the bead. I would gladly purchase the sleeves at a reasonable price. Thanks for your advice and expertise.

So glad I watched this. Installed a 19inch front tyre manually with difficulty and it was a bit squashed at the last point not making any beed seal. After trying various tricks like taping up the gap and using a circumferencial rachet strap I thought I was going to have to remove it. Anyway I essentialy applied your techneque but used liquid brake cleaner, injected into the valve head (inner valve out) and some around the rim to wick it in. It lit up, but nothing, I gently kicked it and it popped onto the rim. So happy!
