Excellent video. Thank you .
The line from the thermostat housing to the radiator tank can I delete that line and block the threads with a plug??
Did you find it made the rpms slowly drop? I tee'd mine in and it makes it super sluggish on the rpm up and down.
It would help if you use nitrile gloves it's known in the machanics industry that oil can cause serious problems with the human body it deteriates the joints and other problems so use them
I do use them, but not all the time. Almost all mechanics I know don't. My dad was a gas mechanic for many years, and he never used them and is totally doing good with no issues. Not sure where that came up since it's actually the first time I hear about it, but I will totally look into it.
What are you getting mpg? If i may ask
6 - 6.5
How to set 855 injector nozzles
Whats the point of making a video if you're not going to film the entire process.
Hi Eddy! Just stumbled across your channel. Looks like you might be based out in my old stomping grounds. I was born and raised in Danube, MN. I started out farming. Started my trucking career hauling beets to the Sugar plant in Renville. I'm restoring an old cabover. Plus, I've been studying Spanish for the last 10 months! I agree with what you're saying here. I'll subscribe and see what else you might be up to these days.
Danube! We are neighbors!
Hahaha! Well, used to be. Moved to Tomah, WI in 2002.
@truckinwithgrandpa805 Not to far away. I drive by all the time!
Is that a old maveric truck you got .I like watching your videos
Did u use any permatex or gasket sealer on any of the gaskets on the water pump/ fuel pump/ air compressor? And did u use loctite on the air compressor bolts also?
I did not. And have no issues on leaks. Bolts I used pressure washers
@@lifeintrucking.eduardomorales thx

Very good info thank you for sharing
Hi I bought a new kit for my air compressor n installed my pump back on , now truck doesn't start as if it has hard start bt it was starting easily before removing the pump also leaking coolant from air outlet pipe what might be de problem n don't know what to do from there pls assist
Have you rebuilt an air compressor before? Sounding like you're getting air into your engine from the compressor making it hard to spin easily.
@@lifeintrucking.eduardomorales it was my 1st time rebuilding it how do I resolve air going to the engine?
@halahalamorake it sounds like the rebuilt was not done correctly. I would take it off and purchase a rebuilt one. Now remember the compressor has a timing point when installing it back on your engine.
Hey not sure if you still have the truck but did that pump hold up good? My big cam 3 needs a water pump and cummins wants $700
Yes. Still running with no issues on pump
I was taught to never preselect, even on modern trans
Did u use the green or red antifreeze?
Used the green but switched to red
@lifeintrucking.eduardomorales was it tuff draining/ flushing to make the switch? I thought the two couldn't mix?
@markopolo286 it is not. Run clean water until u don't have anymore green and then estimate how much to pour in on red
Can the heads be replced whit out rrmoving the injector on the n14 rocker box
Yes
Just clarifying, the injector is on the head, not the rocker
'Promosm' 😊
We need more of the cabover
What ever happened to the Cab Over rescue? I think it was something you mentioned a while back? I enjoy your content man.
Truck is running strong. Still going
Very nice video sir.. It's very helpful for us here in Philippines.. Shout out I am one of your followers here in Philippines
Cool man , Jake's sound good. I should be on the road in my pete next month.
Arent you supposed to adjust the injectors once you torque the rockers?
Depends what your doing with the rockers. Did you move your adjustments? New gaskets etc?
Thanks for the video it's really helpful.I'm currently replacing my camshaft and wondering if you've had any issues with that aftermarket camshaft? I'm debating on buying a cummins or going aftermarket and save some cash.
I have not had any issues with it. Truck is still running strong with no issues with the camshaft
@LIFE IN TRUCKING. Eduardo Morales Awesome thank you
yesss, you got the cabovers back on the road .cool man. I'll be having mine on the road next month.
So awesome it's back on the road.
Enjoying it? I have heard that they run too hot, and that was why they gradually were abandoned.
Mine doesn't run hot at all
Center it up , Robert !! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Miss this truck
My water pump tensioner BOLT broke, right at the head of the bolt. Do you know about where I can even find something like that bud? Can’t wait for the new video
You can get the tensioner at agkits.com. Price is not bad. Now, if your asking about the bolt itself, I'm not sure if you can find it by itself. Might be a part you would have to custom make.
1psi= 2hp. Es decir que 200psi fuel = 400hp Big cam
Can you go over changing the air govenor on one of these motors? I see it on your motor, but a quick video would be awesome.
Will do. I'll try and get one done
My 400 is probably about to get injectors 😢 I can hear a puff sound from the exhaust and has very little ass on top end now. Like it’s choking down once a load gets put on the engine. How are the rebuilt injectors?
Rebuilt injectors have worked great for me
Well let me clarify that. Bought a set from cummins and they did not perform good. Had a miss etc. Purchased a set from premco from TX, and those worked really good
@@lifeintrucking.eduardomorales 10-4 I appreciate you man. I’m having issues finding what part numbers I need because my CPL is an odd number and can’t locate it on the matrix sheet. Guess I can just pull an injector and see what numbers are on it. And gaskets are getting hard to find
You can get all gaskets at agkits.com. I've had good luck getting parts directly from cummins or ag kits
@@lifeintrucking.eduardomorales same, you wouldn’t believe it right now but zero upper gasket sets for the big cam from all the above 🙈
Good thing a cam replacement is not something thats needed too often. I had a Big Cam IV in a KW cabover. Really like these engines a lot, they go forever.
Always enjoy the videos. You still have the cabover?
Still have it.
If you’d bring it at the shop at decent hours it would get fixed properly. We still got your bill here and know where to find you
Lol!!
That green truck looks very nice. What's the information on that one.
Does anyone know the serial number for the camshaft?
3049024 This is for a Cummins 855 BC Flangeless Camshaft. Double check with your engine serial # or old camshaft
Your an awesome person man. Hey I have a K-100 (1979) and she has a new Clutch and new clutch brake and still doesn’t want to stop grinding before taking off from a stop? I’m thinking the clutch pedal is not adjusted correctly because it’s almost down to the floor and doesn’t even come up but maybe 5 inches. Idk man, aggravating for sure. Glad to see you still making content brother
Thanks! It sounds like you need to adjust your pedal linkage. You should have about 1.5" freeplay on pedal. The gap on the clutch brake should be about 1/2". Hope this helps.
@@lifeintrucking.eduardomorales ok I will definitely be checking this out, I appreciate it brother, be safe out there bud and thanks again
Awesome content brother
Your video is the best one I've found so far. I got a versatile tractor with a 855 Cummins getting diesel in coolent I think I know which head it is can you see if injection cup is cracked by looking at it or will I have to take it to machine shop
You might be able to check it. But can be a bit hard to make sure if one is cracked. Also, check your injector o rings. If no luck, you'll have to take all apart.
thanks Iam thinking Iam going to have to pull head anyway it's the rear head starting slobbering out of exhaust a little bit on that cyl can you just pull one head.. I got 3 Versailles with 855s one with a 903 non turbo and a 81 700r mack with an 855 been best engines for me I've always changed oils before there due and antifreeze should last for a very long time
Can bad injecter o rings could put fuel in water
@@MP-io7yj yes. You can pull just that head
Thank you very much
Does it matter what position the injector is in??? Because I don’t want to mess with adjusting it either….I just have an overfilling issue with chicago cold starts…goes away after it warms up…
Not really. I've done it both ways. Trying to line the fuel passages or just pushing them whichever way. They have worked the same. Just for peace of mind just try and line them up as best as possible. These engines will smoke quite a bit in cold weather. If that is your concern, they are working as it should.
@@lifeintrucking.eduardomorales didn’t expect you to answer so quickly…I really really appreciate it
@@lifeintrucking.eduardomorales also thanks to your video I replaced an injector last week and it went very well. Im changing another one hopefully this weekend
No problem. Glad to help out.
