Sorry I missed the livestream. I was sick as a dog with what I thought was the flu, but then my Dad called me and asked if I had gotten sick. Turns out they're was some bad food at the potluck we went to on Sunday because my Dad as well as other people got sick also. No bueno.

I agree that I am paying $35 for my Blanton’s Bourbon and $35 for the bottle, but I’m not paying the secondary market price and never will. There are so many quality whiskeys for $60 or less that there is no need to pay more (unless you have the money and simply want to try something different). Very good lesson Dude, thank you!

Local liquor store is running a special ETL/Stagg/W12 for $99. I bought them out on the stagg. Haven't seen it any lower than $180 locally.

This is why bourbon isn’t as desirable. Too expensive for mediocre stuff. Everything is a limited release, special release or rare. It’s lost it’s luster and is over hyped.

I visited Boston last October with my wife and went into a liquor store and they were asking $200 for Weller Special Reserve and $200 for the Weller 12 yr. I told the guy that it was too high and he told me that his distributor charges him $150-$175 for them...

Good video, I for one do not mind someone making a buck but some of these stores are straight up gouging people. I also have a hard time developing a rapport with places because my wife and I move every 2-3 years for her military service. The Class sixes on bases rarely ever get any type of allocated whiskeys despite the fact that us military folks do a lot of drinking. They do however seem to get $1500-$2000+ bottles of Cognac that ends up sitting in a class case that no one ever buys. If you ask the manager about allocated bourbons they will tell you that they always ask for it but the distributors always say that they don't have any...🤷‍♀

Agree with a lot on your list. I don't think they'll happen unless the market softens enough and they need to move inventory, and then they'll be special releases.

I really wasn’t impressed when I did a tasting at the distillery earlier this year. At that time, I was a whiskey newbie, and I’m not sure which offerings we tasted. After watching this, I will try more products. Thank you! You earned a subscription from me

I can't afford the allocated stuff even if I could find it, but that doesn't bother me a-tall. I've had *wonderful* whisky that's always on the shelf for $70 and under. Shoot, the best whisky I've ever had was $30, and one of my favorites is Evan Williams BiB, which is only 20 bucks.

I think the batch 2 Penelope's have been misses. I have a batch 1 and tried a batch 3 this weekend. The earlier batches had a much more pronounced citrus note. I had similar experiences with Rio.

Just because something is allocated doesn’t make it great whiskey. I have 60 dollar bourbon blind will kill many 150-300 dollar allocated bottles

Sadly, it’s just how it is man. I’ve dealt with that for years. So many people just equate allocated hard to find as good. I knew one guy in a bourbon group who only drank allocated products. He’d always scoff at the rare breed or Jack Daniels, single barrel barrel proof.

2XO GEM OF KY , I've had 4 different barrels and the first was #33 , FIRE 🔥 !! next 3 where not worth the price tag. Terribly disappointed , wont buy another. I'll ad OGD 16 to this list as well...

It's one thing to not really like the taste of an allocated bottle. It's extremely disappointing to get a rare bottle that is not very interesting or complex. Even if controversial, its helpful to have lots of opinions when considering to spend extra money or have the choice between several allocated bottles. Nice one!

I had a whiskey night with my friends. And we had the RR13 and 15 along with the camp Nelson. And out of 5 of us I was the only one that thought it was just ok. I placed it last in that line up while everyone said 1st so I hear you brother.
