Kayaking Silver Springs in Ocala, Florida
Join me as I kayak through some of the clearest water I have ever seen. Unfortunately half of the route was closed due to recent hurricane damage but I still had a good time and had several close animal encounters. One of the coolest places in Florida for sure.

Place is legit. Had strange things happen while walking river banks down there and one incident even sent me to the urgent care with a bad staph infection. Explore at your own risk.

Thanks for watching, Chris! There were so many gators here that I quit counting them. Florida gators seem a lot less intimidating than the ones in Louisiana. The alligators in Louisiana are much more isolated and prone to think you’re just a big snack instead of a tourist.

I wouldn't be worried about the gators. I'd be more concerned with the serial killers. Google says there are currently 3613 active serial killers in the USA at this time. That makes 72 per State. One would definitely be on that Trail if I was there. That's the only thing that scares me 😂. Love me some crispy nuked chicken.
Florida is known for being the go to state for people on the run. They love to hide out in places like this too. Something about the weather and millions of mosquitoes pushes people to their breaking point. A great place to become a missing person 😂

Loved it, Derrick. I know that I'll spend most of my time laughing, and you never fail to disappoint. I did wonder why you were using a baby carrot as bait 😂. I was waiting for the sound of banjos. You were certainly reeling them in. So...... they drop you off and then say, 'we'll see you downstream'? Is that how it works? GoPro is working well. I'm still using my phone. I'll buy a GoPro when I hit a million subscribers. It will be a GoPro 5838 Series Z. Loved the underwater shots. I did think it would be clearer. Was there recent rain upstream, or is it a muddy river? As always, it's a great video, Derrick. Thanks for sharing and brightening my Friday night. Have a great weekend.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling Thank you so much Chris. So basically you check in back in town and they take you upstream seven miles on a short bus. Very appropriate ride for me. They haul your gear and all. Push you off and then you paddle back to town at your own pace. Unfortunately I didn’t realize there were so many different modes on the GoPro and I filmed in standard. Hell it even had a mode that films in higher resolution than 4k. Didn’t realize that until after filming. Hopefully my new underwater shots come out better but yes this stream was full of mud and silt from a recent rain.

Big Buddy Pro has the fan..
Just bought this heater last week. Also the canister attaches to a magnetic disk, instead of locking in place by turning it. There stoves also use the same method of magnets. Newer model i guess.
Love this little heater. Ready for another upcoming winter with it.
Mine came with a propane and a butane adapter so you can burn three types of fuel for $18.50, not bad. When it fails just throw it away.
I might have to check this place out.

@@derrickduncanson9253 camping was great. I stayed at the bigger campground and slept in my van a couple nights. Walking distance to the beach and has shower house. There’s a more primitive camping area too I believe that’s more isolated. Definitely need bug spray and citronella for the camp site. I wasn’t kidding in the video about the bugs. They tore me up worse than any of my trips to Florida, Georgia, Louisiana combined. All in all stills great place. Be sure to check out the visitors office, there’s a real nice old lady that works there and she knows everything about the island.

Chris I’m sorry for such a late response on your comment. This area is in Western Kentucky and it butts right up to my friends backyard property line. Lots of civil war history back here and remnants from Kentucky’s past when our ancestors were settling along the river. I’m glad you enjoyed. 👍

But then I have to ask myself if this is Derrick just playing with us and he's dumped all the stuff in the yard after. You will have to let me know if you kept it or not. Just fancied a different hike, or were you down that way anyway? You promised us a swim too. Too swampy or water too cold? I wouldn't have. 15 views? About the same as me, but I'd rather have a few people who enjoyed the video rather than loads of 2 second views with 'like 420, love you long time' sort of comment. Chris thanks for watching! A lot of things I planned to do in this video didn’t necessarily go as planned. I had a week off work and decided to take a trip to the coast for some hiking and fishing. However, I wasn’t as nearly prepared as I should have been so this turned out to be a learning experience for me. I have another trip planned to Florida towards the end of summer that I’m going to make a longer hiking video from. I’ll be far more prepared for that one after enduring this last trip. It’s almost 100f currently in the southeast US and it’s pretty brutal for hiking. I’m looking forward to the fall so all of these bugs die off again 😂
