388 Days
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 ต.ค. 2022
Hi! We’re Stephanie and Chris, a couple who decided to leave our high-stress careers and retire early so we could travel and spend more quality time with family and friends. After years of investing and frugal living, we realized our financial goals and started planning our exit from work and home ownership. We meticulously planned our retirement date which ended up being 388 DAYS in the future. While it may not be immediately clear to everyone, this is a very symbolic number for us, so we decided to name our channel 388 Days.
Join us as we travel through Europe, Southeast Asia, and beyond, learning about local history and food culture (with an emphasis on food).

Finding Affordable and Quality Health Care while Traveling Abroad
Great informative video guys! Enjoy the rest of your time in Europe, then have an amazing time in Mexico! Can't wait to see what other exciting adventures 2025 has in store for you!
If you planned to travel to Europe this year, I would suggest Czech Republic if it is on your way and you have not visited it yet. That country's architecture has been still preserved and not destroyed by the Wars. I used to live there in one year and learned their language. The second suggestion of mine would be Canada 🤭, not the big cities like Toronto or Vancouver, but St John's (Newfoundland and Labrador) or Banff Nation Park (Alberta). If you planned to come to Calgary, let me know. Happy New Year 2025!
In Newfoundland and Labrador, to meet your goal of slow travel, they have their own culture and hot food, not fried chickens. They have their specialty, Jigg's Dinner.
Vacationing in Indonesia has been a great experience! The culture is amazing, there is so much history everywhere and the hospitality has been outstanding! I can't stop taking pictures and making videos here.
Namo Buddhay ❤
Omg, the view is stunning!!! 😮 👍
Glad you didn’t run into any bears on your hike! What a beautiful park with great views! Thanks for sharing!
Ha! So are we. 😂
As someone from Saigon, the cathedral was closed in restoration for like 6 years now
Yes. It’s a very long time to be closed 😔. Hopefully it will open again soon.
I'm from ciamis
Yes, we travelled through that city in this video 👍👍👍 ☺️🙏 Thanks for watching our video. We love hearing from locals. What cities should we visit the next time we are in Indonesia?
@388_days bandung, jakarta
Ha enjoy in train🥰
This place is interesting! I haven't researched much about Hokkaido yet, but I first heard of it through the manga named Doraemon. Do they sell those clay bowls there (3:35)? I really like Japanese pottery. Maybe many Japanese people do not speak English, but when they do, their English is often impressive. I once spoke with a Japanese woman in a small town in Nikko, and she spoke perfect English. Also, a traditional musical group once visited my junior high school and performed with drums. It was an epic, so captivating. Japan really has a rich culture.
Hi Saigon’s Nguyen! 👋 We didn’t see any clay bowls, but they sell a lot of souvenirs in Sapporo. Japanese arts and crafts are amazing. We found that most people spoke Japanese in the big cities. The historical museum was a little different because it was outside the city. We stayed in one city where very little English was spoken. We knew enough Japanese to order food, and you can buy ready-made food everywhere so even when people don’t speak English, it’s still pretty easy to get around. And the people were so nice. They were trying to help us even when they didn’t speak English ☺️ Cheers!
@@388_daysOh, at 3.35, they are porcelain. I thought there are some clay.
They really didn’t sell anything that I recall. This was primarily an educational activity. Anything in the buildings was supposed to represent that time period.
My favorite video! So nicely done! 🎉
Thanks. We liked the music in this one.
If you could travel abroad for free, and you could only choose one between Europe and Asia, which one would you choose?
We would choose to travel to Europe for free because it’s expensive, and then we would pay to travel to Asia because we love it there 😂😂😂🙏
0:24: Chris looked so funny behind Stephanie 😂 The streets in Japan are incredibly clean. Both Japan and Singapore have done a great job of keeping their countries organized. Walking through those clean areas is just a pleasure 😊
😂😂 we tend to have a lot of fun when we travel. Thanks for continuing to watch our channel 👍. Japan is very clean and well maintained, although Singapore seems more modern. It was definitely nice to visit Kyoto because it had a very attractive old streets. It is one of the few large cities that was not destroyed by bombing during WW II so any of the old wooden houses and streets are preserved.
Beautiful vlog ❤
Thank you. 🙏☺️ The city was so beautiful. Hopefully we did it justice.
Really great video guys! Japan is on our list for sure especially because of the food! Thanks for the glimpse of Osaka, you really did a nice job showing us around the city. Cheers!
You should definitely visit. Just make sure to do it right after you wrap up van life season, that way the rooms won’t feel so small. We had a couple rooms where we were literally climbing over our suitcases to get to the bed. 😂😂
15:05 Yes, I have enjoyed Osaka by watching your video 😅 I will go back Japan someday because I did not visit Osaka by the time I was traveling there. Japan always has good vibes and good foods 👍
Glad you enjoyed our Osaka video 🙏 And thanks again for continuing to watch our videos. ☺️☺️ We loved Osaka, but it was very expensive. We would like to return, but we need to save our money first 😂😂
Beautiful place
We agree. Osaka is an amazing city. ☺️🙏

Remember 1968 Tet offensive ?? Devastating , ten of thousands people died , Hue Hue Hue 🥑🥑🥑🥑🥑
Yes. The war was devastating.
Vietnam is a beautiful country.....i want to visit someday
There are many temples in Indonesia, for example the Sukuh Temple, which looks similar to Mayan temples
I have seen some Venice and some Melaka (Malaysia) in the Ocean city. I could not say anything more, I am speechless! I thought I was watching a video of somewhere else but not Vietnam. I have been watching a lot videos of Yagi. It was terrible. I don't know, maybe you two should not stay in that high building, maybe you should move to some lower level, the wind was so strong that time tho, but I am glad that you were safe! Thank you for making the special trip to Vietnam! Looking forward to watching some more videos from you 😊
We were so surprised to find a place like Ocean City. I think there is a similar Grand World (Venice) on Phu Quoc. I have to say that Vietnam has a lot of very nice amusement parks. VinGroup has done a great job building all these nice places for people to enjoy. If was fund to stay in a completely different place for our last week, although the Typhoon made us very sad. After traveling across the country and meeting so many great people, it was very disheartening to see all the destruction. Thanks for watching and for helping make our time in Vietnam especially memorable. -Chris and Steph
Wow guys, what an experience. Quite an end to your Vietnam adventure. We appreciated your honest filming throughout and after the typhoon. So sad and we could feel your heavy energy at the end of the video. Bless everyone affected 🙏🏼 🇻🇳 Happy travels! -Mitch & Jan
It wasn't the best end to our trip, mainly because we left feeling awful for what we saw around us and especially what we saw on TV. We did feel really happy that we were able to prevent water damage in the apartment where we stayed. If we hadn't been there, the place would have been partially flooded. Overall Vietnam was an incredible experience, but we need to slow down a bit and that is theme of our third year of travel (we hope 😂😂😂). Cheers!
We’ve missed you!
Haha! We’re finally publishing videos again. 👍👍👍
Thank you for sharing your adventure at Surat Thani. I had not seen another video on this location. Your video was very informative and well done.
Thank you so much for the kind comment. We really loved our time there. It was such an authentic experience and so much less touristy than other cities we have visited. 😊🙏
Whats the air quality like ?
The air quality was very good when we visited.

@@388_days wish you all the best!
Chiang Mai’s northern Thai people are so much different than other Thais! Other Thai tourist areas can be nasty and money grubbing! No need to count your change here in Chiang Mai. Very few sexpats as well.
We have really enjoyed many parts of Thailand.
Foreigners saying Indonesian city names is like being in New York and calling it Now Yak, it's amusing.
We apologize. We tried our best. Some of the city names were pronounced so differently from the way we would naturally say them in English. We definitely need to work on our Indonesian. Thanks for watching 🙏☺️
@388_days I suppose it's unfair of me to joke with you about it, as I speak the language fluently.. Hope you enjoy your stay (I am sure you will). A simple rule of thumb for a beginner, pronounce the individual letters as in French, and roll the R...
😂😂 it’s okay. We try to be respectful when we visit a country, and that includes learning some basic words. This year we travelled to Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines, and Japan so we had to learn a few basics in all of those languages. It was quite funny sometimes when we tried to order food, but most people could understand our intentions and our gratefulness for their hospitality through our gestures. We definitely pronounced a lot of words wrong in Indonesia, but hopefully a few people became more aware of the beauty of this country. I would say most Americans are unfamiliar with Indonesia, other than they know the names Sumatra and Java which they associate with Coffee. Thanks for commenting. It’s always good to hear from locals and to get feedback so we can be respectful of the countries we visit, their history, and their languages.

What camera did you use? Great quality
Hi 👋 - thanks for watching and leaving us a nice comment. When we recorded this video we used a DJI Pocket 2 recording in 1080p at 60fps. We have since started using a DJI Pocket 3 so all of our recent videos have been recorded using that camera.
It's a lovely video but I'm just a little bit curious about this channel's background, u guys a bit nervous and anxious (I'm sorry if I'm wrong), is it because of the stressful life in the West (almost like a million story behind those eyes ), love this type of content💓💓, its a very hopefully i am not being rude to you 🥲😓
🤔 During our filming it has been very hot and sometimes exhausting so perhaps that is why we looked tired or stressed. Or perhaps we’re not very good vloggers 😂

Yep! We're back in Hanoi enjoying the Banh Ran vendor you showed us during our food tour!!! We recorded this video just prior to typhoon Yagi. Oh, yes. That was back when we were trying to make “helpful” videos 😂 Glad you found some value. We are headed to Bosnia in 2025. We expect it will be very similar in terms of transportation, food, and price. We just finished up our year in SE Asia and are dialing in our 2025 travel plans.
