I really like that you walk to many places. I also love to walk as much as possible. I love Ubud but it is quickly being overrun by tour busses and crowds. Java should be more local and fewer tourists but still most cities in SE Asia lack pedestrian sidewalks. On Java, Malang is a nice city south of Surabaya if you visit Eastern Java again. Thanks for your videos !
Agreed. Bali has more tourists than the infrastructure can handle. The traffic is quite bad. We found Java to be far less overrun by western tourists, but there were plenty of Indonesian tourists who wanted to take their picture with us ☺️. It was so unexpected, but also super fun. Bali and Java are just completely different. We are very glad we took the train across Java and had the opportunity to experience the culture from East to West. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave us a comment. 🙏☺️
Wow, I am very impressed with your itinerary, and the planning that has to go into it! I have only been to Bali and Jakarta. In Bali, I didn’t go beyond Kuta area, while in Jakarta, I didn’t venture outside of downtown :). So, I am looking forward to following you, as you make your way across Bali and to Jakarta :). Hv a good trip !
😂😂 we have no idea what we’re doing. But we’ve figured out that we can always duck in to a mall to relax and get a way from the heat. We just finished an amazing 6-hour train ride through part of Eastern Java. One of the most scenic train rides we have ever done. We expect to have that video out in a couple of weeks. Glad you’re still following us. Thanks for the positive feedback. 🙏🙏
This seems like a fairly remote area. You have an ambitious itinerary. It will be interesting to see how each of the various areas differ from one another. Are you buying proteins locally as well? That was a little challenging for us to do in SE Asia.
Hi Kevin and Judy, 👋👋 We always seem to get lucky with the locations where we stay. There is usually a nice market nearby. In Ubud we mostly ate oats, yogurt, fresh fruit, vegetables, rice, beans, and eggs. Of course, we also ate out several times, and we have found that Grab Food has been an excellent option when we are feeling lazy. As you know finding food can sometimes be exhausting so Grab has really helped us. Stephanie and Chris
Mangosteens and sugar apples are one of my most favourite fruits!!! They are delicious 😋 Good picks! I have been eating them a lot when I am in Asia. There is the other one that I am still missing, because this time is not its season. That is star apple. Its season is around December. You might find them later.
Mangosteens are great. I think we first tried them in Hoi An. We had to watch a TH-cam video to learn how to open a mangosteen and sugar apple 😂😂. They are both so good. 😋 We have not had star apples, but we will keep our eyes open for them as we travel.

Thank you so much. Hopefully we can see the beautiful rice fields in Vietnam when we visit again in a few months.
