The System Intermediates Need To Connect Arpeggios Across The Fretboard
I learns play it for years and over time its different from what ibfirst learned re learn the sing and get it right locked in my problems are time to kee up wuth all the songs and practice
Always practice to a beat. It could be a metronome, drum machine, jam track, or even better, other musicians... Noodling without a beat won't teach rhythm and that's what you need the most.
Verrrrrrry Goooood....This a valuable insight. Thanks, Ron Fernandez
I needed this, thank you! As a 1 year-ish beginner, this blew my mind about how to think about playing.
Fantastic lesson.... can you elaborate on building those phrases that you used? They sounded like fast runs.... awesome. Please.
Fantastic lesson
The first 3 triads make up the song Taps.
Thanks! A brilliant and fresh way of expanding the sounds of the guitar. Your lesson merges "cowboy chords", triads, music theory and the layout of the fretboard to create more beautiful music without a lot of new learning.
Thanks Mitch, I’m glad you found it useful. Stay tuned, I have a sequel planned where we take the exact same concept and apply our open strings to scale shapes
Every day is a training day 👣💯🎶 it's amazing how u talk about music and give it too us. I enjoy your Videos.
appreciate you!
Thank you, this just gave me a lightbulb moment!
Same here!
Nice lesson. I feel this is really helpful for me. I'm in a band currently where I'm the lone guitar, we have one bass, and one singer. Usually, I can't do too much lead stuff, because I'm tied to the rhythm, but I try to throw in licks where I can. We're playing "Change the World" by Eric Clapton, and we've been considering a call and response framework for the fills, where I, the guitarist, do the call, and the bassist does the response, alternating fills. I think this gives some relevant advice
This works well when the key is E major or minor or A major or minor. It's not so easy to do this over a G major or Bb major key.
You can do this with any key that uses notes from the open strings. If you are creative and don’t always think from the perspective of the 1 chord, you will find a lot of ways to use this trick
Never mind The Allman Brothers (although I really like them), those first 4 triads you are playing in E are the opening, and comprise most of the verses of song 'All Things Must Pass' (also one of the biggest selling albums of the 70s) - beautiful.
You’re right, I had “Melissa” in the back of my mind but George uses this trick too
And "who knows where the time goes?" from Sandy Denny
This was very eye opening to me, and now that I see it, it seems so obvious. Thank you
Thanks, personally it's the content that is so good here... relaxed well put together advice. I mean he does not even cut his video's which is impressive right there! Been enjoying your video's and thousands of others are as well. Just a note to say thanks.
Great content! We love how you break down music theory and we'd love to work with you using some of our theory tools from the Decoder range!
good stuff for sure.. well worth a punt , 😎👍
Nice lesson, but at 6:46 why skip the 7 chord? Use this fingering for it: 0,5,6,4,0,0. You'd be playing the G#dim triad along with the open strings technically making it an E7 chord. When you think you've hit a problematic area don't give up and skip it, figure it out! 🙂
Another great video, thank you 😁👍🏻
You explain things so well.
I think this is the most unknowingly great ear training video ever lol this is the part that's missing from every ear training video on youtube even the really popular ones. Explain what the chords are supposed to sound like and their role, being able to hear them in songs comes later through lots of practice.
Excellent thank you!
Love this. Thanks for giving this approach to expand what i already know
Good thinking
Sounds like David Gates ,so soothing
Beautiful chords thank you
Your approach toward teaching this stuff is refreshing, unusual and inspiring. Excellent stuff man. Cheers.
This was excellent. I’ve watched a lot of triad lessons and lessons in general over years but never seen it put together like this and so understandably. This really was eye opening. Thanks and subscribed.
It makes very nice advanced chords. Thank you so much
Hearing the track on a continuous loop was awesome to hear. I watched another video that did it and they are the memorial of all the videos I watch
Very cool first came across this with dolphins cry by Live and is one of my fave techniques for melodic rhythm passages.. it really does freshen things up as you say! Thanks for the share 🙏🕊️
I like these regular small chunk topics. Im often feeling stuck.
thank u for this
Unfortunately there’s no easy way to learn how to play lead through chord changes other than learning your major scale up and down the fretboard and every mode including corresponding chords and UPPER STUCTURES of those chords and respective modes. Then you gotta learn you alternate tones ie blue notes. Then you gotta dick around with these scales and find cool melodies and ideas. Then you have to learn to weave in and out of the changes. Some styles of music like jazz, blues and classic country require you to change keys with every I, IV or V chord. When you get better you’ll employ scales, pentatonic, triads, quadrads and just about everything else to play a good lead. Then you actually have to use this matrix to write good melodies!! Yep there’s a reason why many hear the call but few answer. TH-camrs want your views and say JUST DO THIS INSTEAD!! Bullshit!! Learn and know your shit!! Work on your chops and play it with feeling!! These are the messages TH-camrs should be sending. There’s no other way. It’s a long journey. Start now. Stop being lazy. Stop listening to bad advice and get it through your head you’re going to have to struggle, learn and pay attention. You’ll have to work on your ear training above and beyond all. Yep, means you’ll have to learn to sing. Good luck and get to work!!
Thanks this is great! Thanks Fabien!
Here's a little tip. You might already know this. But that Eddie Van Halen's song you were playing. He tunes his b string to make it a 1/2. Chord. Sound the tunes at the max, where it harmonizes perfectly. Cause you know, kind of wabbles a little bit there. But that's the secret to that 1, ha ha ha.Ha ha.I want you to do hear you'll be like holy s***It does make it sound just like the album. It's pretty cool.Thought you might like that if you didn't already know of it
I didn’t know that, I’ll give it a try
Thank you very much for this information! Is very valuable!
Your tablature is flipped
This is a really good explination, I’m already a bit further over this but It’s good to go back and try it will all 3 inversions. Rather than just one.
Awesome but confused on the first excersise. I think on the high string we finish fret 15? not 16? Diagram shows 16 but I think? On the G? not the G# fret 16? Maybe I am missing something, but looks and hears like you play the exercise and land on 15 first string at the top of the position?
Lost in a big city yeah know this feelings 😂nice explanation
Good lesson . I must learn theory basic to get full profit. I dont know simple things like a chords in scale . I know that g major is relative to e minor
Good lesson. Awful chord diagrams..
Your stuff is helping me a lot. I'm exactly at this point in my journey
Your content is gold. There is a severe lack of instruction in this part of guitar learning, and your videos have filled so much grey area that was created by many other (larger) creators. I thank you very much and hope to see your channel grow and improve.
Thanks man, I really appreciate that
Underrated stuff here man, really appreciate it
For added flavor don't overlook adding the diminished and augmented triads to your arsenal
Love the way you get across ideas! Profoundly grateful
this was great
