DIY Nissan Leaf Strut change. How to change a front suspension strut on a Nissan Leaf 24kWh
มุมมอง 4625 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I show you how to change one of the front suspension struts on a Nissan Leaf. I bought this one from Autodoc. It seems very good value at under £100. The job took only a morning to do and didn't require any particularly special tool. That said the Impact wrench made it easier and I'm sure I would have saved some time with the correct tool for undoing the strut top nut.

In this video I show you the complete reassembly of my Sun Road-a-matic Rolling Road. Including the installation of the newly wound coils, shimming the discs and the coil mounts to put the coils at the correct spacing between the discs to make the eddy current brake or retarder. A big thanks to Sal, from Telma USA who helped me no end with some details of this 60 year old eddy current brake.

    I read somewhere that the original thermostat arrangement only allowed a maximum hot/cold water mix of 15 or 20 percent which was done to aid quicker warm up and made the engine run hotter. I recently bought a thermostat conversion kit from megasquirt v8 that contains everything needed to put the thermostat back into the inlet manifold where it belongs. It's not cheap but it is worth every penny. I've got a Disco2 Thor engine in my SD1 and it dropped the engine temperature down from 95 degrees plus down to 86 degrees and it stays there. The only problem is that you can't have the aircon compressor but other than that it's a great bit of kit.

    • @lozl
      @lozl 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That sounds very cool indeed! God knows the Thor had its problems but in many ways its the best of them, the plenum is much better arrangement than the older engines. That sounds like an excellent conversion, I bet that's fantastic. I had an SD1 on my Rolling Road the other day, a 4.3 with TVR heads, inlet and throttle body. Sounds ded lovely with the exhaust headers too. Is your SD1 online anywhere??

      I'm afraid the landrover has been gone for some time now, but if memory serves..... With everything switched off there shouldn't be any power in the rear loom at all. So I think you have a fault at the front end somewhere, perhaps a switch issue? Its very difficult to offer help without spending some time with the car and a multimeter though. I hope.you get.to the bottom of it.

    Just one thing about the front door cards, to avoid breaking it (and resorting to screws/cable ties), simply remove the ‘grip’ part of the door handle by squeezing it and sliding towards the door, it will pop out of the plastic part which you can then easily remove to access the screws. I’ve got to do my door but waiting for some parts so I can do everything in one go

    Your car sounds and drives wonderful. Nothing to be concerned about. I seldom need to drive motorway with mine, but it's never stopped me even with the roof off. Guy's above advice is correct, they drive best at 50 < 55mph , even with overdrive, even with 2.6 petrol. I can drive and hold 70mph, but it's not nice, the engine loves the power output, but you can feel the complex transmission and body doesn't like the generated heat and wind buffeting.

    Thanks for this video. Superb. I'm a gardener and just bought this one knowing it's issues with the line. The 2.4 has been ordered straight away. What I was looking for is a DIY answer to the heavy duty spool and line. I knew the replacements would be a joke and yep. £1 per line pretty much. There has to be something you can make/change where you can just buy some 3 or 4 mm line and have some clip where you can unclip, put a new 10 to 12 inch line through and reclamp it back down. (I hope that makes sense.) It does seem a decent strimmer.

    Why didn't you paint the floor panels?.

    • @lozl
      @lozl 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question..... I painted some of the panels that's were steel and rusty, but the floor panels were aluminium. They require a more complex paint process and that paint would have worn off more quickly given that they are floor panels so I left them.

    Hi Loz, I've been following your channel for ages now but dont have a log in so ive 'borrowed' my girlfriend's log in. i have a Viva Hc with a x25xe, rx8 and volvo 240 axle in it running very well on megasquirt and I'm really interested in the aviation bolts you mentioned but can't find them (I admit, I dont really understand there mad coding😅). Where did you get them from ? Is there a specific ref or code for them? I think the the ones with the dimple in are military spec.

      @lozl 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for you support watching the videos. Your Viva sounds awesome! Do you have a build thread ona forum or anything? The website you need is trident racing supplies. This is the link to the aviation bolts page tridentracing.co.uk/product/bolts-aircraft-spec/ The website is very clunky, but they're great over the phone and very knowledagble so give them a call and explain what you're after. Hope this helps

      @@lozl brilliant! Thanks for the info. Will deffo look into it. The Vivas fun. It's my daily but it's constantly being tweaked. I'd made some itb s from bike throttle bodies, was pretty mental but was making it hard to make a base tune so dropped back on the omega set up very similar to yours. I'll revisit the itbs at some point as it's audacious 😁. I don't have a build thread as I'm not on Facebook anymore. Not sure how to share email on here without everyone seeing, Bit of a luddite hahahah. Probably still wouldn't be hard to track me down via the viva pages , there's only 3 Vivas I know of with the xe V6 in and we're in contact. Am lovin' your work though, keep it up. There's not a lot of content out there regarding vauxhall v6s out there.

      @@flexifitnessyogaandpilates9315 I'll have a look for Vivas with xe engines. It sounds wicked. I like the idea of ITBs but I've heard many times that they're hard to map and fueling is less accurate at light throttle. But I net it sounded awesome. I couldn't agree more. Its a very underrated engine. It's so strong, simple and powerful for its compact size. I love it.
