Barred Owl Release 06162024
'Buddy, the Barred Owl was released back into the wild! Location - East of Woss at Hoomac Lake rest area on a lower trail by lake. Don Sandberg, Linda and Daryl Amos are in the video. Robin Quirk is videoing the release. Maureen Orchard is not in the picture but she is taking pictures too. Robin Quirk rescued the owl. Mars Wildlife Hospital rehabilitated the Barred Owl. Thank you to all the people who made this rescue and rehabilitation possible. Buddy is flying free again!'

A pod of Orca Whales passed by Alert Bay today at 12:00 noon. They were westing past Hyde Creek mid Johnstone Straight.

This Alert Bay eagle had been injured by hydro and amazingly made it through thanks to the many loving and healings hands from MARS Wildlife Rescue rehabilitators. It was released today in Port McNeill to return to it's home area. Thank you everyone at MARS.

Wonderful Freedom is free again!! My question is about the way the eagle was left to get out of the carrier. Wouldn't it be safer for the eagle if the top was removed? Just wondering, not criticizing!!
