  • Alert Bay Eagle Release
Thank you, Mars Wildlife Rescue for rehabilitating the injured eagle that came from Alert Bay. On April 19th / 2023 the adult Bald eagle was found unable to fly. He was covered with cooking oil. He was also very sick with internal and external parasites. Mars Wildlife Rescue Hospital worked hard to successfully rehabilitate him. He was ready for pick up and release on September 30th / 2023.
Thank you, Jilly Lavallette from TriPort Wildlife Response Team for arranging rescue.
Thank you, Alan Hunt for capturing the injured eagle on April 19th and for making sure it
was transported to the Mars Wildlife Rescue Hospital.
Thank you, Robin Quirk for driving the eagle back to Alert Bay on September 30th/2023 and
    for organizing the release.
Thank you TerryLynn Gold for releasing the eagle.
The release was a success! Alert Bay Mayor Dennis Buchannan, some of his family and other bird advocates were present for the release. We named the eagle V for Victory because he has a large V shape on his chest. The morning after his release Robin Quirk heard some amazing vocalizations from a near by eagle at 6:30 am. V was high up in a tree joyfully singing a truly different eagle song. He is alive, healthy and flying free because of this loving team of people who cared about his life.
    Thank you everyone!
