A spoon is great for cleaning the scales off

I keep chubs and shiners in my aquarium as pets. I guess I'll have to catch some and try them as dinner. As a veteran meat cutter and someone who has worked in a seafood shop for decades, I can probably make these fish as delicious as any bass, walleye or bluegill. However, there ARE differences in meats and textures. Eye-of-round is a different texture and toughness compared to ribeye. Some fish are flaky and light and some are dense. Depends upon species and your palate.

Hey i am living in Germany (ex-Army now expat) do you have any general locations or lakes to recommend? I got my license which was a major pain but now I am having a hard time finding places to fish. Creek fishing would be really cool

Just grabbed an 8'6" symetre and aside from its ridiculous length, it does alright. I feel like a 7'6 might have been more of a manageable length, but this 8 footer throws baits so dang far

You doing the The Lords’ work out there brother… this is an invasive fish, native to Eastern Europe. They have a voracious appetite and will outcompete and eat all the local fish.

You caught that carp on night crawlers in Germany? Thats pretty uncommon for german carp, but good job. Here in Germany what always works is tinned corn with vanilla liquid baking flavour, which can both be found in supermarkets. So its easy and cheap carp bait. I think carp is one of the best tasting fresh water fish.

Gizas christ man, the way you jiggin' is terrible. I don't know how walleyes are in the US, but the chances you have catching big Zander is Europe, if you jig like that, are super slim, mate.

This seems great for the Great Lakes fall salmon/trout fishing!

I live in Italy and here chub despite being very common are almost never eaten if not when they are fingerlings and only after deep frying. Having said this they are very smart fish once they reach a certain size and many people enjoy fishing them as they fight hard and it can be quite challenging
