CASTING, TROLLING, And DEADBAITING For GIANT PERCH And PIKE!

Welcome back to another episode of ‪@TheFishingExpat‬ youtube channel! Catching giant perch and pike in Germany. In this episode we take out our Nordmann Thunder Kayak to do some kayak fishing. We go to a lake that is known to have giant perch and pike. We found a school of perch where I caught my biggest perch of the year at 42cm. Surprisingly, I caught the giant perch on a deadbait! We then decide to go chase some pike and catch multiple fish over 35 inches and a couple just shy of 40! Casting, deadbait, and trolling were all working today! Have you eaten these species out of lakes where harvesting is legal?
I wonder if they taste like the American perch, pike and walleye?

@@J_D_B4379 thanks for watching! The reason I wrote that comment is actually because catch and release is typically illegal Germany. I have eaten all of those species brother. I have a few catch and cooks on the channel if you’re interested, but they pretty much taste like the similar species we have back home in the states. Especially considering I prepare them the same way I prepared fish when I was living in The States

@@TheFishingExpat That pike had one fat belly. Some of the biggest pike I've caught have been on 1/8 oz jig with a minnow while walleye fishing

@@J_D_B4379 cool man! The classic jig and a minnow slays! I grew up in Florida so I didn’t do a whole lot of walleye, pike, or perch fishing but I made a few trips up north and the jig and a minnow was always a winner

Is Thunder also suitable for mediterranean saltwater? What you think?

Yes, I would say so. It’s a big stable kayak and there aren’t too many metal pieces that would be vulnerable to the saltwater. I definitely think it would work!
