Two-Part Romans Session 6 | Weighing the Evidence of Chapters 9-11
I cannot stress how significant this video is. I have gone to verify through exegesis if the claim stands that Paul wrote Romans in two-parts. The mounting evidence I have discovered is astounding. If you have followed the previous videos, there is so much expectation for this particular session as this is the foundation of if this position is true or not. So much is on the line - get ready to be AMAZED!

    If you believe under your own free Will it isn't necessarily a work.... what it is though is it's your ability to seek God, to come to God through your own determination… That is directly in violation of what the Bible teaches Romans 3:10 1 Corinthians 2:14

    • @LivingChristian
      @LivingChristian 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      1 Cor 2:14 does not support total depravity. Context is Paul talking to new believers who are acting carnal, acting in the flesh and not the spirit. Free will is not a work. Free will is responding to God’s grace and mercy. God still does 100% of the saving - we are just responding to the offer. But one needs to come humbly and without pride. We have this capacity.

      No, that’s not correct. God is not electing Jews before time to be in Christ. Predestination as it pertains to the Bible refers to in time. Election refers to the nation of Israel to be the nation by which the Messiah would come and the promises be given.

      @@LivingChristian *"God is not electing Jews before time to be in Christ."* God has elected every single person, both Jew and Gentile, that comes to saving faith in Christ. And He did so from the beginning. _"But we should always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth."_ *2 Thess **2:13* *"Predestination as it pertains to the Bible refers to in time."* Predestined, from the Greek word proorizo, carries the meaning of “determining beforehand,” “ordaining,” “deciding ahead of time.” _"[He] has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus from all eternity"_ *2 Tim 1:9* _"In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved."_ *Eph 1:5-6* *"Election refers to the nation of Israel to be the nation by which the Messiah would come and the promises be given."* The elect are all those whom God has predestined to salvation. Election is the term used for God's accomplishment of this predetermined act. _"For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers._ _And those whom He predestined He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified."_ *Rom **8:29**-30* Are you trying to make the argument that every time Scripture speaks of the elect it is a reference to the nation of Israel? Because it clearly is not... And to say that God can sovereignly choose nations for the purpose of His will, and yet deny that His word teaches He does likewise with individuals in salvation, is not just imbalanced; it is at variance with Scripture. But perhaps it is some of these foundational misconceptions that have led you to embrace and promote this incorrect, two part view of Romans. Luther the founder of protestantism from the evil Catholic church is correct.. Every one of us are predestined either to be saved or to be damned.. Jesus Himself revealed this in the parable of Wheat and Tares.. Jesus revealed in this parable that there are only 2 kinds of people in the world. The Wheat and the Tares.. Wheat represent the elect and they are all predestined to be saved because they are literally the children of God.. Tares represent the Reprobates and they are all predestined to be damned because they are literally the children of the devil.. Example of the children of the devil can be found in John 8:44 where Jesus said: "YE are of your FATHER the DEVIL, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." Example of the childten of God can be found in Ronans 8:14-16 which says: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the SONS of GOD. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, ABBA, FATHER. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the CHILDREN of GOD:"

    At timestamp 52:45 and I have an honest question: In light of what you said at that time stamp, what do you make of the below verses then? Wouldn't this give the Gentiles a basis for claiming to be of true Israel? Romans 2:28-29 For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

    Excellent work. I think the separation in Romans isn’t just Jew and Gentile, but 3 groups: believing Jew, unbelieving Jew, and Gentile (Greek: nations). 1. The Roman Jews Paul is writing to are Jews who are still keeping the law (Paul affirms that in 2:13) and the Jews who are believing Jesus was their Messiah (believing Jews). They have not yet heard of the “mystery revelation” that Jesus gave Paul (Eph 3:1-9; Gal 1:11-12, 16-20, 2:1-2, 7-9; Acts 20:24; Rom 2:16, 16:25-26; Col 1:25-27; 1 Cor 2:7-8; 2 Cor 12:7a; 1 Tim 1:15-16), and he is eager to share this good news with his brethren in the flesh. These faithful, believing Jews are still keeping the law, and Paul wants to share with them this new thing God is doing - offering a free gift of salvation to all, apart from Israel and her law (Acts 13:38-39). He presents this information in Romans 3:20-28. **I think this is the only scenario that accounts for Paul telling the same audience in one place that only doers of the law are justified (**2:13** - before Paul shares his revelation with them), then later telling the same audience that no flesh shall be justified by the law (**3:20**).** In 3:20-22, he explains the change that has taken place. “But now…righteousness of God by faith of Jesus Christ *unto* all (available to all) and *upon* all that believe.” 2. Unbelieving Jew - the them/they you’ve identified. Those “some of the natural branches” broken off. 3. Gentile (nations) - as the apostle of the Gentiles, Paul gives them a stark warning: Beware, nations. The natural branches were broken off because of unbelief. The same can happen to you. In God’s goodness, you have an opportunity to believe; but this opportunity, this new thing, this free gift (Rom 5) - justification by faith alone in Jesus offered to all (already explained in chapter 3) - will come to an end someday (11:17-22). Then, in chapter 12 Paul returns his focus to the believing Jews.

    Those people who can still speak today talk like machines. They no longer have anything human about them. It seems to me that it's not the machines that are being made more and more like people, but the other way round, people are somehow being turned more and more into machines. This fits in with a time and a generation in which characters and personalities are no longer to be found - and there is only a smooth stream of speech, without any human emotion and making the content of what is said seem flat and meaningless. This is part of the poverty and dehumanization of our times.

    We were wrongly taught because the Protestant reformers didn’t reform enough. They kept too many of the Roman Catholic/Augustine doctrines, which taught us to read ourselves into every page of Scripture. As you say, we do not have that prerogative. Augustine, and Origen before him, mushed together national Israel and the body of Christ, Judaism and Christianity. Roman Catholicism furthered these errors. You’re doing a good job of continuing the reformation. Today, I find Christians are too wedded to these false promises, their emotions, and their religious systematics to even examine the scriptures in depth. If the plain word challenges what they want to be true, the majority will reject it. The free gift of salvation that God is offering today isn’t enough. 😔

    Im trying to sort through your teachings. Ive listened to all your sessions. Please be patient as ai try to communicate my questions. Im hearing that the first half of Romans is "to the Jewish Christians" and the second half "to the Gentile believers. In my study I have been coming to think something similar. I have been sorting it out in my mind this way. The Unbelieving Jews were not included in the new plan of God called the church. The Believing Gentiles were included. Both of these facts are huge obstacles for the culture the early church was in. So, in a sense, if Paul was writing to Jews in the first half of Romans, Believing Gentiles could benefit from hearing it as it affects them, but it isnt directed to them. Also, Gentiles in the church needed to hear that they really were part of the plan all along. They needed to understand that they were truly part of the new body of believers, fully. Now this style of writing could be directed at the Gentiles in the church, yet the Jewish Chrisians would certainly hear it and benefit from understanding the ideas. So, I would say that the whole book is directed to the whole church. Yet I may end up agreeing with you that he has purposes in mind that show the halves of Romans being directly about the Jews and then the Gentiles. Would you agree with this Jason? I feel that it is better to say 9-16 are "directed toward the Gentiles" but also "for the benefit of the combined church." Kind of like if you had two kids who collaborated mischief. You may sit them both down together and start with the older instigator. Within the hearing of the younger you talk about his actions and how they affected the younger. Then you turn to the younger. I think you get it. Both need to hear what you have to share with the other. I think that your videos are making me look at Romans this way. So I would phrase it differently, but basically see your observations as fascinating. Thanks for listening

      @@cherylaguilar5421 thanks for your comment and clearly spelling everything out. 2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, So yes, I agree all Christians (Jew and Gentile) can benefit from the book of Romans (all of it, every verse). But proper exegesis requires we get it right so we can apply it correctly. For example, the “elect” are not all believers, chosen before eternity past as Calvinism defines it. They are the faithful remnant of Jews who believed in Jesus. Tracking the pronouns of Paul’s writing in Romans helps us see this and we know that chapter 8 is referencing exclusively Jews, and not gentiles. The benefit for a gentile to know this is they know that Calvinism is not true and they don’t teach things that are contrary to God’s character and Scripture. In session 7, we’re going to close out the last four chapters. But in session 89 and 10 we’re going to be discussing the harmony of other writings of Paul and the New Testament, as well as providing how this is applied with this understanding … exciting stuff for sure! Thanks for the comment! Blessings in Christ!

I asked him in front of the wife some of the questions I would ask the folks that trust Muhammad or Augustine or any other human outside of John the Baptist about the character of God and how salvation is available and to who etc...but my wife was not all THAT paying attention to the details of the conversation...but maybe she'll see that I'm not as toxic to be around (even when people with different understandings are OK with me.....) We celebrate 21 years of marriage today and the couple next to us before they left started a conversation based on a shirt I was wearing and he said that he is a retired Brethren pastor.... so we exchanged numbers so I could ask him some questions questions as well. I do think it is easier to have heart to heart conversation in real life as opposed to the internet which does make it easier for those that don't agree with you to either be "blocked" or "bullied" and while on the other hand .... I do see the internet as a tool that has replaced the public square and market place...and we can "create" our own little safe space and echo chambers of algorithmic ecstasy providing someone doesn't become a negative influence and ruin the "vibe" or energy or whatever else one places their faith on or in or around.... @LivingChristian my wife USED to be very pro choice (as in regard to her response to the Gospel) as she has been more "Enlightened" by those that appeal to Augustines doctrine....she has recanted that and we have not had the most joyous marriage as I promote that God truly does love the world and ALLOWS us to have a choice in the most important relation man should have as the wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life and He desires none perish..but that all would repent and this is not forced... She claims to be a believer and sees no fruit in me and that I've become "obsessed" with this secondary issue... My rebuttal is did Jesus have secondary issues or was that something that man came up with so that we would just not have any arguments at all so as to not cause any doubts cuz "love believes all things". While I do believe that the man is to love his spouse as Christ Jesus loves the church....He never said....I'll be whatever you want me to be and we should be in the world...and not of the world...and while we are to not LOVE the world's system (like mindedness in everything except Jesus) just to recreate the mindset of the tower of Babel...we still should be representing Jesus as a light to the darkness....so the Holy Spirit convicts the sinner of their sin before comforting their walk with Jesus after the sins were dealt with.... Calvanism flips the script on Jesus... While I see the fight worth fighting and to keep holding on to Jesus and not just faith in faith itself....I see the enemy attacks the family first....and most.

I must say, I am blessed not to have been exposed to Calvinism as a young Christian because this issue has never been an issue for me. As many times as I have read and studied through Romans it was always just obvious to me that Paul was addressing the Jews in some places and the Gentiles in others...I mean it was for the church in Rome which was made up of both Jews and Gentiles. Do you think the misreading of this results from bringing a highly individualistic presupposition to the text, along with certain Calvinistic presupps as well?
