    The final Criticism of Marxism isn't quite accurate but it's a good point. Yes, people are brainwashed by media and religion and other forms of education, but not everyone, and it's possible to undo. I think since Marx himself unbrainwashed himself, he was aware that it was possible and that "people are brainwashed" was more of a general statement.

    Good video, but in terms of criticism 1: You’re right that there wasn’t and international revolution by the proletariat that Marx’s predicted, But huge revolutions did happen under the influence of Marxism, with five communists states still existing today (though they’ve definitely deviated from Marxist beginning)

    Holy moly! One of the most succinct and objective critiques I have ever seen on TH-cam. I would still object to critique #3 as the masses are still “brainwashed” by the bourgeoisie propaganda as evidenced by societal support of the militarization of police in 1st World countries, increased penalties and incarceration by the State, manufactured consent by the media in Western Liberal countries (it’s disgustingly obvious now it’s joke) and the division of the Proletariat to continue to struggle amongst themselves as a means to maintain control of them by the Capitalists, instead of rising up in solidarity against them.

    Do you actually believe that by pretending that African American men don't have an epidemic of violence perpetrated mostly by and against themselves (51% out of 6%) that you are being more kind towards black people. Of course you could look at the criminology statistics which show this not to be the case, but I would be interested in knowing what other reasons you would have other than the underlying assumption that this is just somehow inherent to African American people which makes it Not nice to speak about, This is one of the most racist assumptions I think I've heard in the century. Is there something I'm missing here?

I'm not really following your point tbh and don't understand how you've reached your conclusion...

      I don't know the question, but it sounds like it might be tricky. A crime by a big corporation that did significant damage to society but wasn't punished heavily would be easy to connect to Marxism. Highlight how the ruling class make the laws themselves therefore the laws don't punish rich companies. An oil spill might be good.

      @@thesociologytutor2449 You read "expert" from that blurb of a comment? I fear you grant me more than I can claim. I have, however, seen enough Marxism videos on TH-cam to have an impression (albeit anecdotal) that the algorithm either does not uncover, or content creators cannot make, an "explanatory" video that describes the philosophy in a manner that is a straightforward description of what it is and how it in fact functions... and without ANY appeals to morality, authority, or by "description by negation" i.e. Trying to define it by explaining what it is NOT (capitalism). If it's a "scientific theory" as I have often heard it described, then it can be expounded upon and explained without any prescriptive moralizing. That seems to never be the case. Makes one think it is philosophy, not science.

    • @thesociologytutor2449
      @thesociologytutor2449 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps the unspoken assumption of the people making the videos is that Marxism is a philosophy and not a science? It's hard to see to how the theory and methods of Marxism/socialism are akin to those of the natural sciences. I don't think Marx frequently described his work as scientific.

    • @thesociologytutor2449
      @thesociologytutor2449 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe, depends how we classify hard work. 30% of wealth in the UK is inherited (not worked for). The wealthiest groups are inheriting huge amounts of wealth. That's in addition to the inbuilt educational advantage that comes from being wealthy.

    • @wilson7262
      @wilson7262 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thesociologytutor2449 ‘the wealthiest groups are inheriting huge amounts’. Pretty broad statement. Tell me of the 30% that is inherited how much is inherited from the bottom 90%. You sound like a 16 year old that has heard of Marxism for the time and can only think tunnelled thoughts with no understanding of adversity reactions. Communism and Marxism has proved itself to be nothing but malevolently terrible to anyone who has been subject to its practice in history with countless deaths as a direct result of it. The only way to get that scale of equality of outcome is a if a nefarious dictator seizes so much power that there is not a choice in the matter as to which economic ideal you subscribe to.

    • @thesociologytutor2449
      @thesociologytutor2449 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      'how much is inherited from the bottom 90%' - that wouldn't be inheritance? Your original statement implied society is meritocratic 'peoples hard work'; the overwhelming evidence is that it isn't. There are countless studies on inherited wealth resulting in unequal opportunities and outcomes (a simple Google search will pull them up) It goes without saying, or at least I thought it did, that Marxism has been an abject failure in practise. This is a sociology channel where we encourage people to think critically about concepts like 'hard work'....

    • @wilson7262
      @wilson7262 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thesociologytutor2449 huh? You realise anyone can inherit wealth. Like if my mum passed and I inherited the £10,000 she had saved up that is still inheritance. Your implying that the 1% have access to information that no one else does, this simply isn't true all universities and public colleges have access to the same books and information, it is gaining admission to certain ones that set them apart, Your talking as though 30% is 100%, yes it is too high at 30 but that is not true capitalism that is crony capitalism and even crony capitalism has an infinite higher quality of life for EVERYONE than any 100% socialist regime.

      Yes, I understand inheritance. It wasn't clear from your message what you were referring to. There's a middle ground between capitalism and communism. Scandinavian and some European countries have the highest standards of living. They're the most regulated economies in the world therefore the furthest from 'true capitalism'. I've worked in schools in poor and wealthy areas and they don't have access to the same resources. I suggest reading Professor Danny Dorking on educationwww.dannydorling.org/?p=6674
