I originally set up this channel to showcase vintage stereo consoles and record players that I have restored as a video demo for customers on my Etsy store: www.etsy.com/shop/MidCenturySound, and my own website store: www.mid-centurysound.com/store
It has since morphed into a channel to also allow people to remember the good old days of analog stereo!
Feel free to leave comments, but remember, this is not a forum where you can prove your superior knowledge of all things stereo and leave negative comments, you are "persona non grata" if you do.

Restoring the Magnavox Concert Grand Stereo Console.....
Until a few months ago, I had an older version of this design. The speaker and cab looked identical, but the electronics were tube-driven and the changer was a Garrard. I had rescued it from a thrift store, and had a local guy who restored old radios do a restoration for me. He did a brilliant job on the amp and cab, but not so much on the changer. It worked OK but needed a complete restoration. It was so pretty but unfortunately I never found a good place for it to live in our home, so I recently gifted it to someone who has a great mix of mid-mod and shabby sheek in her house. I think it found a good home.
NICE EQUIPMENT,I BEEN ALWAYS LOVE THE ELO MUSIC TOO.
Nice job. I have upgraded a few myself in this manner. It's a great hobby.
Back in 1982 a buddy of mine sold me a used set of round floor speakers just like those in the thumbnail. Now I know they were Zenith. The quality goes in before the name goes on! Remember those great commercials? 🤗❤
I have one! It works fine and is just cool.
Cómo podría conseguir una consola cono la que muestra
My next door neighbor had one of these they sound great!
That is way cool looking. How loud were you playing it? You would think with the speakers on the same stand as the record player it would skip or at least cause feedback if played loud enough.
When I was young, my Uncle Dan had this stereo. We used to play air guitar and drums while listening for hours. Great Memories
Beautiful console. Your restoration work will give this unit another 60 years. Let’s hope the younger generation can grow to appreciate the true, warm sound of analog and care for these historic and quality (not to mention beautiful) items.
Quick turnaround 😎
A little half inch hole on the bottom may increase speaker movement, due the small enclosure.
Where's the Disco...Ball...🪩....lol. !! Nice presentation and set-up 🍺 👍 🔈 🔈🔈.... !
NICE!!!
Very cooooooooooooooooooooool. :)

I had no trouble installing mine

@@SteveScarlet Thank-you.
Love your work...incredible commitment to preservation Of sound...keep up the great work and content...😊
Awesome stereo console re-vamp! I love Dean Martin! 🤗❤ Started collecting his music, movies, TV shows, etc when I was 7 years old back in the 70's. I've been in the process of designing / building my own custom stereo console unit. The Wrensilva consoles are way too expensive for me. Plus I don't really care for the turntable, receiver and speakers they use. The wooden cabinets they manufacture are beautiful though! 😊 Again, awesome stereo console you've completed! Stereo HiFi 😊👍reborn!
Just ran across your video and I’m also trying to update mine. Can you share the brand specs, or do you have any others listed. Didn’t see any on your eBay account. Thank you.
They were a close out, all gone....
Excellent work as usual, Steve! Sounds great!
There is magic in these console stereos that always take me back to my kid wonder years. I simply love these. Thanks for posting.
In 1969, my mother bought me a GE c717g. I blew the outputs to it a year later. She said I will not repair it. So, I repaired it. I used the same schematic you are using here. I was 15, then. Fun times. This unit is their 150W unit. About 25 Watts per channel RMS. You have a split power supply, +- 24 volts, which is why one of the caps goes to ground. Ground for that cap is more positive that the -24v rail. The outputs were germanium GE3s.
Thanks for the video! Just got a Kubrick 563g and getting ready to tear into it. Would you happen to know where i could get a schematic for it? Lights up, and nothing else, so i will be spending some time on it. Thank you!

@ Thanks!!
Great choice for the song demonstration, love Roxy music!
Good job. I like the idea, and choices to keep tube amps (pre-amp), but for me, I would hate to give up FM. I am still listening to the Radio everyday. Tan fabric would have looked more appropriate for the console, but may not have been available and I'm splitting hairs. The Black/Grey looks good. And agree that speaker cloth looks and sound right. I would love to hear it even on TH-cam. Those big woofers look like they should sound great and speakers have improved tremendously since the 1970's. This is good inspiration if things ever fall together for me.
When I was in high school, mom and dad had a fairly large console stereo record player/receiver with an 8-track. It wasn't audiophile quality but it would get loud and that was good enough for rock n roll. I miss that old behemoth.
The hole in the speaker baffle is not for a horn. It’s a vent for the woofer in my opinion. I do speakers so my educated guess.
I can see that, but it will be the first time.....
Beautiful!
Time Machine
Wow❤
Love it 👍
Beautiful work
Just discovered your channel, really liked the GE mod! I have an old console from late 40's that I had been planning to mod to stereo. I am going to watch your other videos to get more ideas, thanks!

Laminate - brilliant lateral thinking Steve !! I'm trying that myself 👋
I just finished this unit up: th-cam.com/video/RzKfny_eCjI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SQcLQdE8NNKSjoqs
anyway to integrate an FM/AM tuner? or recommend one?
The Dayton amp has Bluetooth....
Sweet! Thanks Steve! That will speed me on my way with about four of the consoles I have here
😲👍👍
Beautiful job! Ya, those later GE electronics were on a par with fold-down portable phonographs, just awful!
Noice!
Very good! Such fun.
That looks great! Good job!
I want to hear it
Ditching the AM/FM?
You can get any radio station in the world through Radio Garden.....
I've done basically the same thing with mine. Good job!
😊👍👍 Nice job as always !!!
