A phenomenal guitarist with a stunningly soulful voice, Devon Rismay is emerging as one of this generation’s finest young bluesmen out of Texas. Carrying the torch for the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, SRV, & Johnny "guitar" Watson, he seamlessly blends new and vintage influences, paying tribute to the legends while pushing the genre into thrilling new territory. Devon is a musician for the people. His songs are informed by a lifetime of triumph and struggle, giving him an authenticity that is impossible for audiences to ignore. With a steady stream of new material expected for 2022 and beyond, Devon is set to be a key figure in the modern blues scene, both in his native Texas and beyond.
Devon Rismay - Hoochie Coochie Man | Muddy Waters Cover
Had the pleasure of kicking it with the crew and covering & jamming to Muddy Waters song Hoochie Coochie Man! Definitely one of my favorite Blues Songs of all time by a great blues artist.

At the end with the picking he was replicating the sound the female dancers shoes
Saw vh 33 times in my 58 years. It was a way of life for this man!
thats white people music for ya :D
An incredible performance and credit should also be given to the bass player, Jim Leverton, and drummer, Jerry Shirley, for their great backing, which allowed Steve to really cut loose on guitar😎
Whats the pickups on the Custom Shop?
@@HighlightsandClips-vm7yq just the stock pickup that they come with
Roys right hand technique is Django level. But the most impressive thing is making the music flow without any hesitation or seeming hurried at the speed Roys playing thats not easy
One of my best experiences was seeing them Live just before Duane was killed. (Yep. I’m older than the hills)
Eddie is the effects. lol. He built the guitar. It's known as the FrankenStrat. But Sir VanHalen is the effects. He's a master.
I will say it,she is the Greatest 👑 take your bow Queen 👏👏👏❤️💥
Need lighter strings. I tried to play at 10. It's not the same sound. I'm glad that the blues is alive and that young guys are playing it
Steve Marriott said when they formed the Small Faces, they wanted to be Booker T & The MG's and he always kept up to date with their records. Take a listen to "Carnaby Street" from the album "Hip-Hug-Her" 👌
I realize that this reaction vid is over 2 years old now. (But just in case, right?) Devon, you said that you wish that the bassist had incorporated some slab bass technique but it probably wasn't invented until Marcus Miller came around (or made popular until he came around) But the person credited with popularizing that technique is Larry Graham (from Sly and the Family Stone fame). He did it way back in the 60's and he and countless others far predated Marcus Miller. Furthermore, slap bass had already been going on since the Roaring 20's on upright basses anyway. It was kind of underground and mainly only featured in jazz, rockabilly, etc. rather than pop music. But it was always there!
Yes that's the shw he played Malaquena on.
That guitar does not have a B or G bender on it.
U cant go wrong with johnny. R. I. P..he got m his props in early 70's he was king of the era for blues/rock. He was great at the blues ,gro wing up in southwest texas learning from all the old time greats. He also had a knack of running blues riffs thru a mess pf rock riffs.he earned the name "CAPTAIN SPEED FINGERS". HE REALLY EXCELLED WHEN HE & HIS BROTHET EDGAR GOT TOGETHER. THEN ALL THE YOUNG PLAYERS REALLY IDOLIZED & ADMIRED HIM. THEN THE 80's and heavy metal came around & kinda put the brakes on his popularity. By the 90's HE FADED AWAY INTO A CORNER. BUT AT ONE TIME HE COULDNT BE TOUCHED. R.I.P CAPTAIN SPEED FINGERS. LONG MAY YOUR SOUL & SPIRIT PLAY ON THRU ETERNITY ! ❤
Great reaction Sir! Welcome to (real) freakin' rock and roll!
Devon -- The new Joe is still mind numbing good and is very willing to share the stage with other great talents. Listen to "riding with the Kings' he is fantastic in a more subtle way backing the great talent Mahalia Barnes . Great review thanks !
If you like fantastic playing, take a look at Glen Cambell playing William Tell Overture. Brilliant (as was this, 😅)
Much success in your playing
Bucket is special
I normally don't leave a lot of comments but I'm trying to promote people checking out a Josh Cohen and a John Butler they are amazing performances as well thank you for taking the time to send this reaction out pieces
Great video, fantastic job. Keep up the great work and God Bless.
His tone is just 🤌
Eddie didn't use any pedals. He couldn't afford them when he was learning. What your hearing is raw, plain mastery of the guitar. No one before and no one since.
Roy Clark could play appox 26 different instruments and the same for musician Glen Campbell. You should check those two together.
I just recently heard this song and when you made the S.G.statement it nearly sent chills down my back as I was thinking the very same thing!. Wow.
Dude, im a 70 year old white guy whos lived on the blues, and your opening for ur channell is wicked. Man i just want u 2 know, U got chops .very impressive.Love ir brother !
I think Eric Clapton is the most overrated . I just don't get what people see in him. He spent hours studying Freddie King's style, yet he's rated above him...Oh and he's a racist MF. .
Really liked that Albert King lick!
Keep this up nice lick very tasty keep the knowledge running man good job
🤟🏾🤟🏾
Respect to this young lad for championing to get more recognition for Roy. He,s a good guitarist himself so he knows whats awesome playing
Loved your video. Loved your list. But I would make one revision: SLASH - Orgy of the Damned. I've heard a lot of great Blues guitar, but I just sat there, frozen, with my jaw hanging, like an idiot, staring at the computer monitor the first time I heard it.
I've watched the video of Joe and Eric cuttin heads so many times it's not funny. Classic show of two greats on one of Joe's sponsored blues cruise. There is a Dutch Blues guitarist that bears a listen by the name of BAS PAARDEKOOPER. Watch a live video of an original song titled : "HER SILENT CRIES". You will enjoy it I'm sure.
Play the 8 minutes of quitar, you will blown away, I am a 69 year old Australian, now I feel 18 again, Thank you
Awesome my man. Awesome
Monster of a player
I honor that amazing man every single day, Freddie, my angel 😘😇
Gary was the legendary god from Belfast.
Great as they are, they're all obvious choices. Plenty of other 'unsung' blues guitarists around today who are also helping to keep the genre alive and kicking too!
I like how you want to play with the song. Should do some more of that
ccr sang this way better than that gay dude
Danny Gatton and Roy were never going to be household names they didn,t look or dress like the guitar god profile. Danny looked and dressed like he,d come to fix your roof and Roy looked and dressed like your Geography Teacher
He s in the rock and roll hall of fame and rightly so.
#1 My brother Stevie Ray Vaughan. ❤❤❤❤
Please Do your Homework before going online 😉
You're playing your guitar upside down....
Was this version on tik tok or something? Theres countless versions of this song and all you TH-camrs react to the same one lol
What ya been up to, besides your music ? Good seeing you
School and work, just been really busy with the two
Great vibe bro❤
Devon, playing off some of the comments below, I heard that once, a well known rock guitarist was asked what it felt like to be the world's greatest guitarist, and his response was, "I don't know. Ask Roy Clark." He spent most of his time on a country music comedy TV program for years by the name of Hee Haw.
A lot of the live performances are heavily improvised as well. The recorded version of this song has so much emotion, you feel exactly the grief and loss he felt when he lost his aunt who this song is dedicated to.
