An incredible performance and credit should also be given to the bass player, Jim Leverton, and drummer, Jerry Shirley, for their great backing, which allowed Steve to really cut loose on guitar😎

Roys right hand technique is Django level. But the most impressive thing is making the music flow without any hesitation or seeming hurried at the speed Roys playing thats not easy

Steve Marriott said when they formed the Small Faces, they wanted to be Booker T & The MG's and he always kept up to date with their records. Take a listen to "Carnaby Street" from the album "Hip-Hug-Her" 👌

I realize that this reaction vid is over 2 years old now. (But just in case, right?) Devon, you said that you wish that the bassist had incorporated some slab bass technique but it probably wasn't invented until Marcus Miller came around (or made popular until he came around) But the person credited with popularizing that technique is Larry Graham (from Sly and the Family Stone fame). He did it way back in the 60's and he and countless others far predated Marcus Miller. Furthermore, slap bass had already been going on since the Roaring 20's on upright basses anyway. It was kind of underground and mainly only featured in jazz, rockabilly, etc. rather than pop music. But it was always there!

U cant go wrong with johnny. R. I. P..he got m his props in early 70's he was king of the era for blues/rock. He was great at the blues ,gro wing up in southwest texas learning from all the old time greats. He also had a knack of running blues riffs thru a mess pf rock riffs.he earned the name "CAPTAIN SPEED FINGERS". HE REALLY EXCELLED WHEN HE & HIS BROTHET EDGAR GOT TOGETHER. THEN ALL THE YOUNG PLAYERS REALLY IDOLIZED & ADMIRED HIM. THEN THE 80's and heavy metal came around & kinda put the brakes on his popularity. By the 90's HE FADED AWAY INTO A CORNER. BUT AT ONE TIME HE COULDNT BE TOUCHED. R.I.P CAPTAIN SPEED FINGERS. LONG MAY YOUR SOUL & SPIRIT PLAY ON THRU ETERNITY ! ❤

Eddie didn't use any pedals. He couldn't afford them when he was learning. What your hearing is raw, plain mastery of the guitar. No one before and no one since.

I've watched the video of Joe and Eric cuttin heads so many times it's not funny. Classic show of two greats on one of Joe's sponsored blues cruise. There is a Dutch Blues guitarist that bears a listen by the name of BAS PAARDEKOOPER. Watch a live video of an original song titled : "HER SILENT CRIES". You will enjoy it I'm sure.

Devon, playing off some of the comments below, I heard that once, a well known rock guitarist was asked what it felt like to be the world's greatest guitarist, and his response was, "I don't know. Ask Roy Clark." He spent most of his time on a country music comedy TV program for years by the name of Hee Haw.

A lot of the live performances are heavily improvised as well. The recorded version of this song has so much emotion, you feel exactly the grief and loss he felt when he lost his aunt who this song is dedicated to.
