Well constructed music, not inspired. The name is tricky, but the piece could be named whatever. The music is based on short sensations/ideas which are not connected to each other. It's a patchwork without any progression in the meaning of thoughts. It's a bracelet where you can change the order of the pearls as you want, and nothing would would change. The bracelet wouldnot become better or worse

Wonder who wrote this had Alison in mind?! “Let’s see who we can make them hate their instrument after they attack this!” Well…she did this justice and that’s an understatement!!! Love your music, Alison!❤

Uma verdadeira máquina rítmica infernal lembra Stravinsky e Ravel. Muito bom.

Um Bolero de Ravel Chinês ? Nada disso. A rítmica é incrivelmente oriental e riquíssima de melodias que vão se mesclando num crescente orquestral apoteótico. Fantástica e muito criativa. Minimalista? Não sei. Gosto muito da música chinesa contemporânea de Qigang.

I saw my violin teacher in this video who is now retired. One point I would like to mention is that Chen Qigang's original reason for writing this piece was because he had lost his son, who died in a car accident in Switzerland, and it is the greatest suffering on earth to send off one's son with a grey hair. Chen Qigang's experience of honour and glory followed by the tragic loss of his son has led to such a poignant and somewhat peaceful piece of work. I hope that Mr Chen can minimise his inner pain and that his son can rest in peace.陈老师有一段话我想放在这里：我的人生，可能悲多过于喜。没有吃过苦得人不懂得享受甜，也不会懂得喜悦得到来往往与痛苦相连，且最终不会停留于喜悦，而是消逝于无。悲喜同源，人们因得而喜，因失而悲，但皆有阴阳两面，悲与喜如同得与失，是一对不可分割的孪生，都是瞬间的过程，留给自己的只是虚无。岁月带给人宽广的视野，当脑子越来越清醒超脱时，也会感到肌体老化的反差感，还有所经历的苦难与境遇，表现一种撕心裂肺的失落感，但写的时候又发现，失落变成了一种温情，悲喜是同源得。用25分钟，穷尽起伏跌宕的心绪，通过25分钟的积累我希望悲喜同源最后能达到某种升华，给人以淡淡的感觉。首演前夕彻夜难眠，像等待孩子出生，而触发的源头确是丧子之痛，le joie de la souffrance

Truly, a Modern Romantic work: coherently complex and melodic throughout, and stands easily with the great violin concertos of all time - Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, etc. I thought such works could no longer be written.

把这么艰涩而枯燥的音乐吹奏的如此完美，真不愧为神级的美女小号大师！ To be able to play such difficult and boring music so perfectly, really deserves to be a god-level beauty trumpet master！

Qigang Chen’s music has the sonoroties of Debussy, Messiaen and Takemitsu. Therein lies his originality.

The composition is great! Is a pitty that the conductors chooses to play 20bm faster than the written tempo by the composer, that is why it sounds a little rushed. Other than that, the execution is excellent. Bravo for the orchestra!!

A solid pianist with a fantastic ears

Chen qigang has extraordinary ear, who writes exactly what he hears, not guessing or fillings. This is an extremely difficult piece to perform to any western instrumental players. Jia Lu's reading, learning and conducting is one I have not seen in any orchestras from China. Lu grasps and controls the orchestra masterfully.
