That xcite bait I'm guessing you are supposed to use like a Zara spook. Try walking the dog with it. Snap the wrist and immediately give it slack. Get that rhythm going and I bet you will have more success

It's great to be out enjoying nature...but one heads up. Brook trout have a protective slime layer that keeps them from getting infections when in the sometimes not clean water. Handling the fish with dry hands damages this layer and can kill or make the fish more susceptible to sickness. As an angler in this area, always wet your hands if handling a fish or net and release. Single, barbless hooks are best. It's possible you know this by now as it is a couple year old video, but I wanted to let folks who see this video know. All the best on your channel.
