Most of you people in the world think that advancing in technology is always the best thing and here is a perfect example that it is not. I would never take a chance on my life with one of these inflatables and I come from the newer school era. I'm only 32 years old and again in this case I'd definitely go old school=full foam insert vest/jacket.
Good info! I had the same thing happen to me. I was struggling to get the bobbin off the stem because that material was still inside, but then I realized that I could just run it under water to dissolve what was left and it slid right off.
I have the same life jacket. It started to rain lightly while i was wearing it, so I hung it up in the house to dry it out. About 3 or 4 days later, it deployed while in the house! Thanks for showing what kit to buy to rearm the PFD. How can you view the bobbin expiration date while it's mounted in the life jacket? The date seems to be out of view.
Thanks for the video, I’ve been trying to rearm my BBS A/M 33 and when I went to put my co cartridge in my vest inflated. Watching your video I see that there is no seal that you mentioned at 7:30 . What does that seal look like, is it just a rubber O-ring ?
Glad it helped! Yes it’s a small black rubber O-ring that seals the cartridge in place tightly. I didn’t know there was one in there until I started replacing the cartridges. There is a chance that life vest might not, with one but likely it should
You have to replace the bobbin anytime you replace the cartridge. And should replace them at least every five years even if they don’t go off is the recommended timeframe. No it does not work without it. Thanks for the comments!
How about all you boneheads skip the advancements in technology- that isn't always the answer. In this instance it's best to go old school with pfds that implement full foam inserts that way one does not have to be concerned about a failure even if failure rate for these life vests are just 1%, it's still a Chance you're taking with your life. In another video a gentleman had his inflatable PFD rip at the seams= N😂 Thanks.
I (one of the boneheads 🤣) get your point and agree with you… “advancement” in technology aren’t always the answer… sometimes more of a problem. the only good thing about these life jackets is the bulkiness of the full style you speak of. That’s what ppl like myself try to avoid especially when fishing in colder weather and have the need to wear heavier clothing like jackets coats etc
I had this exact same thing happen today. Thanks for your video, is a great help!
Glad it helped! 😀 thanks for watching! 👍
Thanks for sharing I will definitely be changing how I store my life jackets!! Thanks for great video
Glad it was helpful!
My west marine went off by itself in my garage. Thank you.
It happens… 🤦♂️🤣

That’s a good tip also. Thanks for the info! And thanks for watching!
Thank you. I couldn't pull the bobbin out of its holder, and didn't want to force it out. Your tip was helpful.
These things sound like pieces of s*** and the companies still have a long way to go to get close to perfecting them.
Wow who would have that would happen when storing them. Great tip thanks for sharing it
Thanks for watching! 😀👍
Helpful. Bobbin trick was great. Thx
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Thanks..same thing happened to me
Sorry to hear that!!! Hope this video helped!

You won’t be able to see the expiration, it will be hidden… just gotta remember when u bought the life jacket or when u replaced it.

When you remove the bobbin? Put it back? Does it work without ?
You have to replace the bobbin anytime you replace the cartridge. And should replace them at least every five years even if they don’t go off is the recommended timeframe. No it does not work without it. Thanks for the comments!
Dont store in the trunk of your car either
