      I speak about the shipping in the video. I go over shipping costs at 20 minutes into the video. It was included in the price of the haul. This is a complete, accurate comparison. I really wish that there was more support for each other in this space and less of other channels tearing each other down. I never go on other channels and make negative comments. Thank you for doing this video. You do live in a remote area and I can understand why this would be cheaper for you. However, in the area of the United States I live, Azure is significantly more expensive than the local organic products we can get locally. For example, we have a local wheat mill Company (who offers Organic) and the products are less than half the price of Azure Standard. I tell everyone I can to shop around and buy the best product that you can afford for your family. It doesn't make you a horrible mom if you can't afford everything organic. If you can't afford to buy all organic you will survive. Azure Standard has become a TH-cam product and is being endorsed by many channels. Don't forget that many of these channels get a kick back from Azure. This is one reason why those who use it on their channel can afford to purchase it.

    • @Thehomesteadinghills
      @Thehomesteadinghills หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. You are lucky to have choices when it comes to quality food. I can not tolerate foods that are not organic. I have a medical condition where I am unable to process out toxins. So for me it is imperative to get the cleanest food possible. I also have not received any “kickbacks “ from Azure as no one has clicked on my link. I have made no money back for doing this video. I did my original Azure video to get folks to think outside the box when it comes to sourcing their food. This video was a request from a subscriber. I personally don’t plan on being a grocery haul lady.

    You calculated shipping cost for azure forgetting that you need to drive to Walmart. With the cost of petrol that's no small thing. Thank you for this video. I am going to look into getting an azure drop in our local area. The nearest is about an hour and a quarter drive away since we live very ruraly.

    • @Thehomesteadinghills
      @Thehomesteadinghills หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. My Azure Standard drop is about 1 mile from our local Walmart. We have a car that gets 45 to 50mpg. It cost me $0.10 (10 pennies) more to pick up our order. So for us it is not a significant consideration. I hope that you are able to find a drop closer to you. I believe that you can sign up to be a drop coordinator? You might look into that on their sight?

    Maybe helpful for anyone interested in Ezekiel Bread: The standard Ezekiel Bread is about $7.69 per bag at Walmart here in Nebraska. In our last Azure haul, I got the six loaves bulk option for about $5.37 per loaf. That's a good deal.

    If people can make the transition to slowly buy in bulk, the prices are more attainable. We eat only organic, and started the transition to buy in 25-50 lbs about 8 years ago. I am unsure of price comparisons with conventional, but the switch was most logical when comparing to the prices of small portions of organic in stores. Costco is a good source for organic frozen fruit and organic maple syrup. I think the biggest difference for us was needing food that was not cross contaminated. Many of the smaller packages may contain major allergens, so we were somewhat forced to go this route with allergies to the top 8 and more in my family.

    Love your video & thorough information. I'm a long time azure customer as well. One thing about your comparisons that you may not have considered, but that I did when I first started shopping w/them, was, when adding the shipping into azure costs, depending on how far you would have to drive to your local Walmart, AND the time involved to do the shopping, mileage/gas/time can be similarly added to the final Walmart cost. With azure, you shop online at your convenience, pay and go pick up your order, locally, when it arrives. With Walmart, you must drive there (time and gas) and spend time shopping inside the store, waiting in line and driving home (more time & gas.) I did this same comparison to my local organic markets for several things and found that the convenience and overall excellent quality was worth it for what I could get through azure versus my local Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Sprouts. I will go to those places in between orders if I end up needing something last minute, but the shipping costs (especially for me across the country) are still surprisingly low for what I get in an average order.

    • @Thehomesteadinghills
      @Thehomesteadinghills หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching. The cost for shipping was added into the cost cited in the video. I took that into consideration. Shipping was factored in. The difference in drive time for us is 3 mins and about a mile distance. We have a vehicle that gets 45ish mpg. It adds .11 (11cents) to the cost. You are fortunate to have the ability to shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Sprouts! We literally have Walmart, Harps, and the Dollar General. Our Walmart is not a super center so it doesn’t carry many organic options. It doesn’t carry any pasta that I can eat. So, for us for many items that we use our only option is Azure Standard. We do have an Aldi about an hour’s drive from us and a Costco 2 hours away. But there both those options take much more time and gas money. And again Aldi doesn’t have many items that aren’t fortified.

      @@Thehomesteadinghills Yes, EXACTLY! So many folks don't live near to organic/non-gmo-centric markets, and that really makes the azure option attractive. Even WITH those markets only about 30 minutes from me, I usually go for azure bc of the convenience AND the fact that they are small-farm-centric and, not for nothin', but Oregon hasn't been b*stardized yet by any toxic spills or accidents, really, so I trust the produce coming from there more than from here in the SE part of the country. Thanks again for your great & thoughtful content!

But if i have an appt in the valley (Phx) I will go to WinCo (2.5hrs away). Is this milk straight from the cow or can "whole milk" be used?

    • @Thehomesteadinghills

      This milk is straight from the cow. But, you can absolutely use whole milk from the store 😊. Give it a try with store bought whole milk! Thank you for stopping by and commenting!

      @@Thehomesteadinghills I don't know where else you can buy it but Whole Foods by me sells low heat pasteurized non-homogenous milk. I take it that would be a great substitute from farm fresh, and am assuming which is non pasteurized non homogenized milk. I do have a farm a little over an hour away to get farm fresh raw milk. But am afraid how long I can have it unrefrigerated for.

    Could you use lemon juice in place of the citric acid powder? Most people don't have that on hand.

    • @Thehomesteadinghills
      @Thehomesteadinghills 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can substitute lemon juice or white vinegar for the citric acid. It might impart a slightly different flavor, but should work. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment.

    Could you please give us a guess estimate of how far you had to drive to get your Azure vs Walmart loads? In miles approx. would be nice. Thanks.

    • @Thehomesteadinghills
      @Thehomesteadinghills 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! Our Azure drop is 2 miles from our local Walmart. We are fortunate to have a vehicle that averages 49 mpg (a diesel Volkswagen). I did the math and with current gas prices it would cost us 0.14 (14 cents) more to get to our Azure pickup. I appreciate your comment so much as I will be sure to put this in our next haul video! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! It means so much!

    I am loving those jars! I have the taller 1/2 gallon but those have wider lids! I got lucky and got canning jars at a yard sale! 3 dozen various sizes for $5! I could not pass it up! We also only drink whole milk! Costco for us is over 2 hours in Greenbay Wisconsin! I miss Tillamook White extra sharp cheese. We can't get it here. I got a bunch of organic maple syrups for a markdown at the grocery for next to nothing! I try to have all of the above in salt! I love having variety in all my things! I get the gardening thing lol. Our gardens ..yes gardens! Every year in Washington we added more garden space especially since Covid. We grew almost everything! Except Broccoli, cauliflower potatoes, and melons. Never had much luck with any of those. But everything else was pretty over the top! We are so on a curve here! Later plant date making for a shorter growing season. Our Crooked yellow squash has just now started producing. We got a few cucumbers and our tomatoes are all still very green! Our soil where we planted seemed very sandy so we added organic soil to it. Most of the things went into raised beds we made. We will get it figured out! It will just take time is all!

    • @Thehomesteadinghills
      @Thehomesteadinghills 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great score on the jars! Love it! Our Costco is a two hour drive as well. Yes the garden thing is a challenge. But, I know both of us will figure it out! I don’t recall if you mentioned it, but do you guys have a high tunnel/green house to extend your growing season? That is one thing we need here. We considered the UP. (Just didn’t make it that far north in our property search 😉). It’s so cool to hear y’all’s experience.

      Oh my! What a small world. I wish we would have got to meet you guys before we all moved! Kevin was born in Yakima and grew up in Kennewick. His family still lives there. I don’t really miss the desert or the WA state leaders, but I do miss family. I also took for granted how accessible supplies were.

      @@Thehomesteadinghills I was also born in Yakima. I knew nothing but irrigated desert so I had nothing to really compare it to lol. Unless you count the times I escaped to Cali, Ore, Wy, etc for a week or two! I do miss the minimum wage and all the shopping available. I really miss WinCo! I loved buying in bulk especially my spices! I miss my family and friends but like you I do not miss the leaders in WA! From what I understand Inslee is suppose to retire this year. What I do not miss is the crime, homelessness, and drugs! We don't even have graffiti in our city! Washington State is falling apart! Cost of living is way too high!
