Siege of Sparta Rome Remastered Total War Historical Battle Very Hard
Siege of Sparta Rome Remastered Total War Historical Battle Very Hard joins the war on Sunday as we continue to ever think of the Roman empire, one day it shall be so. A return to a classic of the Golden Age of Total War, with an all round upgrade and I swear a legit change to difficulty.

Im glad that there are still youtubers of rome total war
You’ve got one of those voices suited to narrating history documentaries.
Thank you. Voice acting (even just narrating) is honestly becoming a dream of mine, means a lot to hear I wouldn’t be terrible :).
Oh my God, Thank you so much for the Help on my Childhood Game! It was full of challenging strategy!
Glad to help and good luck with your kingdom.
Great battle I also used a similar strategy to beat this one Basically the enemy hoplites are absolutely overpowered and will crush ur units even if you have 4 to 1 advantage,so this battle is just a war of attrition where you have to wait and slowly grind the enemy one by one until there are few left for the final charge. I placed my phalanxes and pikemen at the mouth of the entrances near the public baths in a U shaped manner. For some reason the AI decides to send units 1 by 1 so I took out the hoplites by outnumbering and outflanking them along with my ranged units grinding them down I also destroyed the public baths building and placed archers near it so that they can do the same to the hoplites which take cover in the inner part of the city Save your elephants for the last charge and that's it ig.Good video
Solid strategy. I’ve got a feeling I’ll be using similar tactics for the later sieges as I don’t think you have siege equipment in some of them (darn Roman’s, amazing soldiers, terrible lack of artillery). That said, the release order of this series is going to be so random given its difficulty haha
I always thought this was one of the most scariest and stressful missions in the game
Definitely stressful. I’m really not a fan of when total war just drops you in the middle of a battle. I’d much prefer a bit of time to figure out my units for historical battles. I get its an ambush, but outside of miss plays (clicking the wrong spot) I can’t remember the last time I got ambushed in a campaign. The historical battles just remind me why.
@ yeah, I remember reading about this and only few Romans made it out of forest, while reset were dead or got captured and toutoure to death
Ahh so this is what total war Warhammer is based upon good
I’ve never really thought about it, but you’re right. TW is based of Warhammer fantasy and Warhammer fantasy is based on 40K. An awesome game and incredible setting. Lore rich and full of moral grey zones. Or at least that is what a heretic would say, after all. The emperor wills it. If you’ve never checked out the hobby I’d recommend taking a butch at games workshop :).
"Iv had more pleasant conversations with Orks" Ya know he's probably not wrong, Orks are pleasent..... relatively speaking.
Good timing as ever for another Space Marine Video BROTHER BEAR! WOW thats more Blood stain then ship explosion, I forget sometimes the Terminid ships are Organic. Was watching one of my other TH-camrs and apparently Ogrnes are even stronger then Space Marines?! Now I want to see a Ogren get into a fist fight with a Space Marine just to see what happens. Then again, I think Darktide has a Space marine Class (minus the power armor) or at least I think so. Hmmm, maybe charging the plasma pistol makes it do more damage? Meanwhile across the multiverse the Illuminates have finally made their Suprise entrance into the Helldivers 2 verse. Truely, The work of slaying Xenos is never done.
Well met brother Jay. The Ogryn are powerhouses, absolutely 0 brain cells, but built like tanks. They’re often pretty adorable in the lore though, with commissars having to talk to them like children to get them to go into chimeras and take care of their equipment. I’ve seen the helldiver update, Christmas holiday is coming and I am looking forward to sinking my teeth into it! I’ll see if I can’t drop in to help deliver democracy with you.
@@BroughtToBear Good to hear Brother Bear. I must admit, THAT WAS THE BEST SHADOW DROP I think iv seen in my life yet. Like I had just gotten home from work, Tuned into the game awards, and BOOM helldivers BIT, que the update Trailer and then its like "oh btw, IT DROPS NOW!", Like THAT IS HOW HYPE PEOPLE UP! Player counts have recovered quite well too, regularly been over 100k on PC ALONE for the past week. (and if that wasn't epic enough, they drop a Warbond shortly afterward AND a as of late a KILLZONE Crossover.) Been enjoying these videos, looking forward to the rest of the series.
Well that is certainly a JUMP from last video, going from the tombs to the Druid Grove. Feel like I missed something. "Their must be a way to get in their, but how" Like Breaking down the door..... LOL ya got it! At least I get to see more of the NPCs personalities and Dialogue watching this, which is one of the best parts of the game. Hope you get to meet all the Companions, each of them truly is special in their own way. Don't worry too much, the Absolute is part of this games story, You will find out all about "her" in due time my dear bearded bard. "I can't believe this plan has worked" Best moments in DnD are when you can say "my stupid plan has worked!". OH GOD spells like HOLD Person are such a pain in the ass! Its just like "have fun being CCed in a game where you are usually OUTNUMBERED!" It sucked so hard for my buddy who was playing a Dwarf Besecker. (I tried being a Archane trickster and kinda misunderstood my entire role, plus far as i know the Hand you can summon is still bugged but I would ASSUME they fixed it by now) But oh yeah, Invisibility is so much fun and USEFUL TOO! Grease Bottles, also very useful (Their is even a spell for summoning that stuff) "I pretended I was a bard of soap and gave them the slip" _ Eggman, Sonic X.
That is a jump. I set up the upload schedule wrong haha. Feywild does some trippy things to time I guess haha. Totally agree on stupid plans being the aim of the game. Since this was real time, I was worried it would run out like half way through the grove or something. Going to be abusing that as much as possible, mostly for mischief. Ever so slightly annoyed I brought these out in the wrong order, but being so glorious a bard, I'll call it the prequel and none shall be the wiser ;).
Being the rat I am and the poor guy I was only owning the demo version, this was the only battle available to me but boy I had one hell of a strat. I would concentrate all my forces into the middle of the map and fight off attacks from the right flank before countering the attack on the plateau and climbing onto it from the right with the bridge without the stakes. Good ol Napoleon divide and conquer
good battle
Cheers. Final one for now unfortunately, might get lucky with some dlc, but back to the grindstone that is total war till then.
Yeah.... only Infantry Regiments have Anti Fortification grenades, Trench Raiders and Flamers don't sadly. Also got to love how the regiments are not as Fluid as one would hope when hoping between trench networks. (like you can see them streaming toward the trench, turn around and assume formation.... WHY?!) Many, Many minor flaws and annoyances aside, Still a good game. Really rings home that WW1 experience. Now, if only I had any Confidence in Creative Assembly to make something EVEN REMOTELY as good as this in Total War, it might even make up for that 100m dollar Money pit known as Hyenas. Edit: If I remember right Trench Raiders are supposed to be really good vs tanks if you can get them close to them that is.
I mostly only use the infantry in campaign due to the low cost to be honest so I never got to learn the other units too well. The movement between trenches has always been a bit buggy, but it’s definitely improved from release, just never quite got as smooth as you’d want. A darn good game nonetheless. I’d love to see a ww1 total war, though I doubt the day would ever come. Be a whole lot of trench development on the campaign maps for that and constant sieges. But totally worth it!
amazing battle, RIP alexendar
It’s a cheeky, but honestly great battle and I loved that the game just gave me this one after so many failures haha. Got Rome remastered to look forward to, might not get so lucky this time.
please note on most total war games, that in order to capture an artillery/siege equipment, you must kill the troops on it without destroying the equipment that way the games can claims it is captured. (P.S) not all total war are like that but i notice that feature on Warhammer, shogun, and most games that contains at least a siege equipment.
Noted! I’ve always thought that would be it, but I’ve never been able to consistently pull it off. Is it that no cannons can be damaged and all crew must be slain for it to count, or is there a little lee way?
Nice tonbe back watching your channel. Think Sho2 might be my all time favourite now that I've sunk a few "hours" into it. Side note, i don't think this video is in it's playlist, in case that was an oversight
Glad to have you back again :). Shogun 2 is definitely up there for best, never less than top 5 on any total war gamers lists. Thank you for the heads up on the playlist! I had put it in the Rome 2 historical battles playlist by accident.
Good Looking forward to new historical battles in this game(if they decide to add it)
Cheers, It's a big if though and getting any more beyond the final mission. As far as I'm aware there are no more battles planned, but I would love a new game to introduce a new front and some new mechanics. Battles are pretty darn good, but the campaign could use some new features, though last I heard talk of this kind of thing was back in 2023, and even then I don't remember seeing anything official.
@@BroughtToBearok We shall see
Considering Empire total war battles are a bit janky, will u play a Napoleon total war campaign? That game is my childhood
Napoleon playing as Austria if memory serves is on the channel, plus all historical battles (minus Trafalgar, that one I’m still trying to complete). Napoleon was the first total war I actually finished properly, so one hundred percent agree on the nostalgia for it. It always gets an honorary 1st place for me haha.
I completed this by having the English all leave through the outer wall, chasing my charge, then sneaking in peasants and my general in the back.
Using your knights as a distraction to have your peasants dishonourably win the battle? Solid 10/10 French role play.
Siège of vraks mod when
One thing I will say, SHADOWHEART in her default set up (her being a Shadow Claric) is quite powerful and Flexable! (particularly at higher levels) Depending on how you set up her spell book of course. Healing? She has it. Support Spells? She has it. Badass Battle Spells? Yup she has those too. But OH BOY, deciding on what to choose is the hard part. Anyway, if you look hard enough around this Area you should be able find Every Companion/ story Character in some place or another. Except the Dark One..... they are "special". "I want a little squirl companion", Well... I wouldn't know about a squirl, but their is a spell for animal companions. Speak to Animals is a pretty good spell to have if your looking for some Humor though, the Animals have some pretty funny things to say.
I’m still looking into spells as things have changed a lot in dnd in general for spells and seemingly even more so for BG3. Glad to hear shadow hearts good, genuinely thinking of keeping her as a main for the versatility. I messed up with the pig not activating the spell before hand, I figured there would be an option during the dialogue section. Also noticed while editing that I was barely using spells in general, need to get used to the whole “a short rest to replenish spells is fine” idea.
@@BroughtToBear Some Abilities will reset on short rest (world rest), others will require a Long rest (Camp rest). Magic Charges really make you think about what spells you use and how often you use them. But yeah Shadow Heart is Awesome, even without Tinkering her. Plus.... hehehe, thanks to her "faith" she even has a little bit of Necromancy. (spoilers? Nah.... not quite.) But feel free to Try all the Companions. The 1 annoying thing about CO OP is you take up a Party slot, which means less Companions. (my buddy and I where playing Co Op and well.... Shadowheart was the Medic/Support) Speaking of Necromancy would recommend, it's FUN. Obviously, you have the Minion Summoning classics (skeleton archers, Basic Zombies) among other things and can even talk to the dead (useful in some cases). While you can't exactly Summon a HORDE sadly.... IF you can get the Zombies to "prep" kills, you will quickly have a Zombie horde on your hands. Zombies when they attack something, it Infects them and if they DIE while infected they become a newborn Zombie, for "balance" reasons though they slowly decay over time though and are quite weak (10 hp and they take 1 Necro damage a turn). I forget what exactly happened but, I think I ether used Shadowheart's Necromancy or a scroll of Animate Dead and I managed to get like 5 or 6 Zombies During one of the boss fights.
Call me when Brought To Bear gets hella famous.
Finally, it only took 90 days :3
Haha my bad! Bg3 demands a bit more attention than other games and currently that attention has been going into building a 3D forest for my actually DND game unfortunately. Got a good chunk of free time coming soon though so hoping to get quite a bit further soon with it. Tempted to do some recordings of building the DND campaign, 3D printing takes so long it feels like I should be using that time for the channel at least.
I'm honestly surprised you only got a thousand subcribers, you sound very professional commenting on gameplays
Cheers for the shout. I guess I’ve finally appeased the algorithm, may it continue to shine its mercy upon me haha.
What movie you talking about that is up there with red cliff?
An excellent question! I would double check names, as my copies were written in Thai on the front covers, Three kingdoms : resurrection of the dragon (focuses on zhao yun) The lost bladesman (Guan Yu) There is another guan yu film, but I honestly can’t find it. I’ll update once I can find my full dvd collection, but I think it might have got lost when I moved house. And I don’t know if these count, but I love them. Hero (jet li) Little big soldier And of course, Disney’s mulan is my guilty pleasure.
@BroughtToBear thanks, little big soldier is great. 👍
awesome video dude :)!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Dude you have the perfect voice for a real time strategy youtuber
Cheers. It comes from years of teaching English and training my voice to be as posh as possible haha
Good battle very intense
Majorly. These historical battles have been a lot more intense than the campaign to be honest. Last time I played a full campaign it was on the top difficulty and it just turned into a full blown stale mate where I only won due to attrition. Might need to lower it and give the full campaign another bash.
@@BroughtToBearyes that is the authentic world war 1 experience Your review states that the game lives up to it name Good job on the battle and looking forward to more battles and videos on this game
I actually have a interesting story with this game, bought it while i still had my OLD PC. How old you ask? Id had it for at least 10-12 years maybe, STILL has a 750 TI in it. Much to my SUPRISE, it will Run Bolders Gate 3 on the Lowest Settings possible. At least MOST OF IT, once you get to the city of Baulder's gate itself the LAG really kicks in..... But yeah, was a Fun ride right up until I just COULDN'T stand the LAG.
I am honestly impressed the 750 TI could play it to begin with. Sucks you couldn't press further, I have barely gotten past the first part and I'm still loving this. Tempted to load it back up for the new pc?
@@BroughtToBear I am tempted to dive back in, but not like I'm missing much far as I am aware. plus Iv been playing so many other things. Once we got into the City outskirts the lag kinda started, then once we hit the city gates and the city proper OH GOD MY FRAMES! Game would straight up Crash from "running out memory" from what I recall every to we had to transition back to the City Area. Edit: It was a DELL XP5 if your wondering.
Everyone quiet on The Great War: Western Front
Lol
Game?
The Great War western front. There’s a steam link in the description if you want to check it out. It’s an acquired taste, so I’d take a look at a bunch of different reviews before buying though.
@BroughtToBear thank you 💕
Great
It really was. I was slightly worried about what the battles would be like for the great war western front, because the campaign (though I love it), is very much the same thing repeated again and again, but this battle was actually a good one. Game on for getting gold!
@@BroughtToBear hmm i have seen the gameplay for this game It kind of gets repetitive after a while but i didnt know it had a historical battles game mode Good job on the win
I still cannot wrap my head around this This is how they fought WW1 = horrifying
It really is. Modern urban warfare and the scale of weaponry used is definitely horrifying, but the concept of straight forward charges into MGs and artillery is just a whole different type of hell. And that's without adding in the logistics troubles and realities of just living in a trench during this time period. I enjoy the game for what it is, a game, but the cinematic intro and outros instils nothing but respect for those who made it through. It's like the colourised videos of the WW1 footage that Peter Jackson made, they just hit home. I love that the devs included these.
I like how the enemy cavalry just melts when they make contact with the legionaries in the remastered however they won't budge even if flanked on all sides
I am seeing this and hate it haha. I was looking over the stats for units and realised that owing to the experience and gold weaponry/armour, even skirmishers are actually on par with most of the players infantry. I've actually had to start studying units pre battle in order to plan. I resent the effort it's forcing me to give, but honestly that was something missing from how I play. I guess it's a good thing then... Going to dedicate this weekend to it I think. 2 hours remastered, 2 hours on Rome 2. I do not expect to win though haha
@@BroughtToBear take your time dude. I too am facing this and have noticed this, since i am new to total war i dont actually understand most of the stats and what those icons mean i try to do my best to optimally use the units but cavalry getting defeated by skirmishers was something new for me Still great video and keep doing what you are doing
Featuring the adventures of the brother of Thule, the most beautiful of pallid elves, it's time to see just how beautiful we can make this world. Which unfortunately started off with a resolution issue, though it's framing of our adventures is quite frankly, majestic. This will be changed soon, for I think youtube could only take one more episode of such a fabulous form. If you wish to be enthralled by such glamorous elven deeds yet further, then look no further - th-cam.com/video/WMSzgGJP-mQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BroughtToBear
Good battle You should also try out Rome total war remastered historical battles Literally they are so tough and also some battles I beat on the original in the first try but in the remastered version I am still unable to beat them like Battle of lake Trasimene
I totally forgot about remastered! Good shout and consider it done. Have to hope for some of the other classic total wars to be remastered too, get a second shot at medieval 2.
@@BroughtToBear i think the AI in the remastered version cheats in the historical battles That or I am just bad But some battles are just impossible to do on very hard difficulty
@vaastavmishra2035 I’m going cheats. Just took a go at asculum and the method I used in Rome didn’t work, at all. Thinking they must get a higher buff or our units are de-buffed more. Having triarii and principes break on contact, not to mention velite struggling to get through elephants is weird to say the least.
@@BroughtToBear exactly It took me around 10-15 tries to get it in that battle in the remastered But in the original i did it first try This was exactly my point
Very low level of gameplay 😢
Very fair, started this campaign rather sketchy. Though thankfully legendary difficulty is quite forgiving in three kingdoms.
8:27 weakest unit of spartan hoplites
A true spartan wouldn't even singe their beard against flaming onagers, and use those arrows and javelin to pick their teeth.
Remind me, Titus was a Captain in the Previous game yes? While it most certainly TOTALLY SUCKS, if I remember my Military Ranks correctly, Getting Demoted from Captain to Lieutenant isn't THAT bad when ya think about it. Hmmm, that Space Marine combat knife reminds me of a Bowie knife or something judging by the Tip. Although given its size its probably the size of a Roman Gladius. Meanwhile the Bayonets on the Guards Guns may as well be a Toothpick. Ya know.... odd as it might sound they should make a game like this but with the Mechanicus, the things you could do with Customization and Loadouts alone would be pretty Cool. After all, who doesn't want to play as a Leggio Cybernetica?
Yes, Titus was a captain and demoted when becoming a primaris. But I think that the idea is that he was a Black Shield(?) removed of rank and serving in the death watch. So becoming a lieutenant was a promotion from no rank to rank. Though that's just me trying to make sense of the story. What I do know is that chainswords are cool and Titus likes to use them =]. Although I would 100% play a mechanicus version, I'm still hoping for more imperial guard stuff. I want to play a Commisar, slowly replacing limbs as I loose them and bestowing the Emperors justice unto Xeno and Heretic alike.
@@BroughtToBear Hmmmm, So basically Cyberpunk but in 40k? DUDE HOW HAS NO ONE DONE THAT YET?! Warhammer 40k First Person RPG, has a nice ring to it.
Nice Gabriel Angelos quote.
His voice is how I imagine all high ranking space marines to speak. And that is not a bad thing.
Wait till you play operations, then you will use parry 😆
I didn't want to spoil anything, so I've only played the first operations mission. That said I always try to play as the honour guard, Sword and board + Plasma for the win!
DIDN"T SEE THAT ONE COMIN! But I'm here for it, Proceed to RIP AND TEAR until it is done. Wait.... thats a little too Khorne ish. Um..... yeah I got nothing, LETS PURGE SOME XENO HERITICS! Ya know, I'm surprised someone hasn't made a 40k Strategy game on a Galactic scale. Like Empire At War, but 40k. Cus LIKE HELL am I trusting CA to make anyone worthwhile that isn't Alian Isolation related.
Against the scourge of the Xeno, I'm sure the Emperor won't mind looking the other way. There are lots of mods for just that, Foreman was playing a really cool one awhile ago, but I've forgotten the name unfortunately. There's still always dawn of war thankfully. After playing Pharaoh in prep of the total challenge, I have to agree. CA is kind of loosing their way right now. Loved 3k, had issues with, but still love Warhammer 3. Troy and Pharaoh however are pretty hit and miss with character selection from what I've played. With more misses than hits unfortunately.
@@BroughtToBear Yeah Troy and Pharaoh Back to Back was a pretty bad move on their part. Especially when later on they added Greece to Pharaoh (effectively combining the 2 games), on top of that they _appear_ to have started to pull a "EA" by readding OLD features and calling them NEW. Not gonna lie though, the most likely FALSE rumors of a Star Wars game would be nutz if true. Because then they would have to fight the STAR WARS community and the Empire At War community. Now that Battle WOULD be Legendary! Of course, let us not forget they also have that 100 MILLION dollar loss with Hyenas, which I'm still puzzled how it got SHOT DEAD at the last possible moment. Sega must know something the rest of us didn't and if Concord was any indication, that turned out to be a smart move. The studio also got GUTTED as a result. Still, at least all the Alien Isolation fans are getting a sequel.
I remember when I played this battle for the first time. It was also my first historical battle, so I didn't know there is no placement time etc. Just after the start, i got surprised by the Teuton cannons that started to shoot, and when i tried to organize my troops, one of cannons hit my King, and I lost this battle, like, 10 seconds after it started, because Jagiełło cannot die to win xD
SAME! It's a dirty move to stick a cannon against you when the king's in range. A great lesson in getting the heck out of the way, but can lead this battle to being a matter of luck if they get hit, particularly right at the start.
Rus not Russia
My bad. I'm only a little familiar with how the meaning of Rus changed throughout history so I always get confused and then when Russia joins the mix, I completely loose the plot. Cheers for the shout, I'll add it to the back for this time period.
Best game ever
It’s up there. Medieval and shogun are in a weird position of being so different to the rest of total war, but still being some of the best games around.
Great guide! I love this game <3
Glad you liked it. The game that started it all, a true strategy classic.
Congrats on the 1k bro much deserved . Hopefully speak soon I sent you a message on insta .
Cheers mate, I’m finally going back to a reasonable schedule at work so will be able to set up a proper chat soon :).
Wassub
Wassup!
my buge is amazing I can't get out of the water. mission on the ship
I’ve read a variety of bug fixes (had a lot of game breaking ones myself) and generally they all come to same solution of reloading save files prior to the bugs occurrence. This lead me to having to complete an entire level again, but it did work in the end. It’s a good game and worth completing, but insanely buggy. Good luck with it, the only other alternatives I found were loading on different computers and bringing the save files (once you pass the section with the bug) back onto the original one.
"We have done every game from Shogun to troy..... and we haven't had a diplomatic game" Well it _is_ Total War after all, but well... lets be honest that was more down to Total Wars Diplomacy more then anything else. It didn't really "get good" till 3Kingdoms and so on. Speaking of Diplomacy, hopefully one of these days they make having Vassels worthwhile. Like bring back the "admin" tax and let us give Vassels LAND via diplomacy. The best thing this game added was the Resource system, something that I hope stays in Total War. Its funny, its one of those things we don't really think about till it becomes a thing. Something other then Gold to worry about to add a little bit of depth, after all "worth its weight in gold" is saying for a reason. Anyway, certainly going to be a interesting contrast between Historical and Mythical.
The total war diplomacy has always been a bane for me. Honestly it's why I learnt to hate allies, which was only made worse thanks to Shogun 2. I'm hopeful for this one though, particularly in the early game. The resource system has been interesting, definitely feels better to have more than just one resource be the determiner. Means taking settlements becomes a bit more a necessity and trade can actually be useful for once, rather than a cheep way to sell access rights for gold. Really looking forward to mythical. This is my first historic and I've tried the truth behind the myth, but mythical will be a first time too. Not sure who to play yet, thinking Amazon (love this faction) for truth behind the myth and Odysseus for mythical as I've heard good things for their missions.
Great man stay blessed🦵
Cheers, same to you.
