Did you ever find a concertina sketchbook that had better quality paper? So far I’ve only really found the seawhites which is only cartridge paper or they’ve got the ‘octopus sketchbook’ which is still only 220gsm cartridge paper so I’m not sure would hold much wet stuff although reviews comment on it being good for painting. Also what good value but can withstand a bit of mistreatment (ideally gummed) watercolour paper would you recommend? Ideally Not surface. Either that or a mixed media which could be used for watercolour and doesn’t resemble the smooth bright white of a cheap GCSE sketchbook. I’m kind of finding it hard to narrow down what to get for mixed media (sketchbook or paper pads) that’s primarily going to be started with watercolour but could go all the way up to alcohol markers and it’s harder when making those decisions online or in a shop where the pads are sealed anyway. So far I’ve just been using what I have lying about/can pinch off of my mum but that hasn’t really narrowed it down because they’re all over the place brand/media/texture wise. A paper video showing all your sketchbooks/paper pads would be useful content I’m sure!

I have cheap acrylics to use & they are not thick at all so i m gonna play with the cornstach 😂 The straw stuff is funny but there are other medias easier to use 😉 Gesso can work to prep some coloring books pages if the paper is not really friend with wet medias! Quite surprised by the boiling water hack!!😜 And Pablos (caran d’ache) which are colored pencils water resistants are really great for the resist technic! Moreover you can draw in colours then paint with watercolours 😃 😉 🌸🦄🌸

My prismas used to break until I switched sharpeners, they no longer break like they used to, could be your sharpener is to blame!

I ordered full sets of all three. Prismas have their place. If had to only pick one id pick prismas.

I love getting from the Works their Canvas Pads - great for oil painting. Although best to gesso it first before using it.

Just bought the 150 pack online the waiting process for them to be delivered is brutal I’m very impatient 😅

I honestly think it's your consummate skill as an _artist_ that made these paints look good, Gemma. They're unfortunately far too transparent for my liking - I think I'll stick with the Amsterdam student range - still highly-pigmented, and much better coverage!

Oh no,I had watched this before buying the Prismacolors. 🙈 I love the luminance but I am searching an expensive alternative. I hope it will work, but now I am not sure. I didn't know that the lightfastness of the Premiers is so bad.

Alas, the range store by me hardly stocks the amount of art supplies as it used to.They have moved the majority of it's art stock online.The problem there is you can get similar art supplies cheaper from amazon,so they loose out on sales,not a clever move on there part.

I bought these markers a while ago and loved them. My only gripe with them is the lack of light blues and greens. And the sketch pad paper isnt the best. But for the price and what you get is great

Never heard of this store. But i have seen hauls in last few days. I think discussing good products a store offers, best options from there vs other stores and on overall best items avail in general is good. Im sure haul vids will keep going on but imo it just seems like the 6 year old who runs to show strangers (at the door) all their favorite possessions or latest gift and toys 😂. Not very smart of young kids if stranger is a robber. But apparently today w social media the 20 year olds show off what they got 😅😂... to the world.

i'm new to painting so didn't have anything to compare, I found it hard to paint, i have to really load the brush and sometimes the under layer will come off...so I'm glad you reviewed this and it's not just me being rubbish. I bought them 2-3 years ago so I'm wondering if they have since improved the quality. However, I'm going to buy the windsor and newton ones...

es soll angeblich ein Trick geben, wie man die Prismacolors (dessen Mine kaputt ist) diese wieder reparieren kann. Im Sommer bzw. an heissen Tagen, kann man die Stifte einfach direkt an die Sonne aussetzen. Es kann ruhig den ganzen Nachmittag sein. Die Mine beginnt leicht zu schmelzen. Danach diese, am Abend, vorsichtig reinholen und abkühlen lassen. Danach sollte die Mine wieder fest sein. Mehr als nicht funktionieren kann es nicht.

hi! i’m nearing the end of y11 and i’m planning to take art, photography and CS at a-level, i want to go into game development, specifically the art side of things (concept art, character design and such) and i have unis in mind. however from what ive seen on all the universities’ websites it doesn’t seem to say what a levels are required, just the grades and that a portfolio will be needed. i think i should be all set however do you know if there are specific requirements in terms of what a-levels are required for most art courses in unis?

The way I saw a W&N rep use it was to take a color pencil (same color as the swatch he’d painted out with blue wc paint ) , mix water to the pencil scratch on paper , and make a paint out of it - then drop some medium in to that and mix it up - then take that and with mostly the side of brush, brush it over the blue wc he painted in the swatch - not over the whole surface - just swipes here and there. This gave the effect of shimmer of light on the blue , making it look like shimmer on water. What I did not understand was why he did not just put the medium in some mixed up blue wc he had for making the swatch sample - why use the blue water color pencil, mix it up with water and then add the medium and use that to transfer to his swatch to get the highlight on water effect. Can’t figure that out. :)

Silly question...should I get the fabell castell 24 or 36? It seems like the 36 has a lot of repetitive colors that don't look that different

They’re real. The colour number is different on each pencil. The more messy your pencil means it’s real. Unfortunately.

Have both brands they are great to use have a different feel prismacolor are a lot softer than the Fabercastel polycroms.
