Thank you again Gemma!! i would love to see a comparison video between these, the caran d'ache and polychromos colored pencils and the use of zest it on them to see how they react to it. lovely content as always!! thank you!
You didnt really say much about the compairson between Derwent lightfast and Polychromos regarding the feeling of the colored pencils on the paper - which of the two feel harder, which softer, which have more abrasion and which are easier to layer and blend? ❤love your channel, great video❤
I just bought them and hate them with a passion. The Derwent were sticky in feel which when using them in a heavy layer caused them to be rather blotchy like with little clumps in it. It was like the pigments were sticking to itself and gathering unevenly. The mars orange was the worst colour with this problem, not all in the complete set were affected but there were many. I would test out just the mars orange first if you're considering them and if you don't like the feel of it then at least you won't waste your money like I did. I got a couple of holbien to try and almost cried as they were so much smoother and produced perfectly flat even colours without the blotching, streaking and clumping in the Derwent. Between the Derwent and polychromos they're about the same hardness with Derwent maybe only slightly softer ,but the polychromos you can achieve a even flat heavy colour without the problems of the Derwent. I'm so angry at myself as I can't afford a different set and it took me 2yrs to save up to get them, now I'm broke for a set that will waste away on the shelf unused.
Im trying to get a top notch derwent set for my collection. Im not worried with lightfastness. Which derwent set is the most fun to use? I cant get them open stock as i live in a place ordering online is difficult. Im limited to ordering only a handfull of times a year lol.
Thanks for the video! Lovely Duck drawing :) I LOVE the DL pencils, they are my faves overall, as I find them creamy, and they blend very nicely. Would love to see you compare these to your Polychromos, Luminance and Prismas. :)
Your a Gem Gemma bought a set of 100 at Christmas they were on special still cost me $500.00 Ausy dollars nice to use with the Caran de arche luminance pencils .
Very informative video. I love how you blended the duck’s head, the colours were so realistic. I have a few questions. What white pen did you use around the eye? How well do the Derwent lightfast pencils sharpen to a point? I have Derwent Chromoflow pencils which I love the colours but hate how you really can’t sharpen to a nice point or they break. I also have Polychromos so I would like to see a comparison video with the Derwent lightfast. Thank you so much
Thank you 😌 I'm so pleased with how the duck's head turned out. I have only sharpened the pencils once, they managed to get to a pretty decent point with a faber-castel sharpener. I used a Uni-Ball Signo pen amzn.to/3OPTA6I

Zest it is oil, it's orange oil you get when you squeeze the skin of the orange.
Was wondering if these can be used on canvas for tiny details with oils. Are they too hard in your opinion?

Nice looking duck 😀because of their colours they seem great for animals, but I think I would miss the red/pink colours even if they fade horribly 😑
