Spider-Man Life Story - Why Endings Matter
Ugh, another NERD telling me to read Spider-Man Blue, get in the locker, dork. /j
33:55 don't forget the symbiote helping Pete one last time 😢
5:22 What was even better for me was that I had no prior knowledge of Doc Ock, so watching Otto become this villain shook me to the bone when I was younger.
Writers love "one more day" and "sins past" because they think more suffering=more money
Just read this Comic... and actually Cried at Jamessons resolution like holy hell.
Beautiful
More like Ironboy to Spiderboy
Come back we need you spiderdude how else can I get your type of comic
I wish Chip Zdarsky write Amazing Spider-man.
Plz come back
Wish we have more Life Story like this.
What was wrong with the Civil War Spider-Man storyline ?
I was absolutely bawling my eyes out at the end of the story. One of my favorite modern Spider-Man books that pays homage to the original Lee and Ditko run as well as the many stories after. It's a true celebration of the character and love letter to the long time lore. Zdarsky killed it here
Gwen is his what if Black cat is the bad girl Mj is the one
You didn't see Turkish Spider Man yet
Forgot to mention hpw Yuri became a super hero with 0 questions & explanation
Ahh yes what want to see in a spiderman comic is totally and absolutely NTR OR cheating??? (....)
With great power comes great pain and suffering
Spider-Man agony gives me peace
how can they do this to her damn morons
😠
bruh why didn't you address the crappy mj shooting mission while Spider-man was leading venom away, which should've been playable instead of MJ
I came back after reading it and, my God, I am still crying.
This is a game I really love, but the story could have been more cohesive and the major moments could have hit more with proper building. Miles’ arc with Mister Negative was really great, but he was kind of cut off from Peter’s story and his cast of characters. Since Miles is the second and last character you fight Venom with, I think he should have gotten a more moments with Harry. Maybe Miles could have paid a visit while Peter was off doing symbiote things. And he could have definitely used a bit more screen time with symbiote Peter too, before the boss fight. Miles’ story is far more concise than Peter’s. And definitely way tidier. Perhaps it would have been nice to see him spend a bit more time with his friend group, but his initial obsession over Martin Li kind of shoved them to the sideline, which is a part of his arc. Weird thing is when he and Peter rescue Rio and Ganke from the symbiotes, he tells him he’ll make the time to hang out more. But the game ends with him being the sole Spidey for the foreseeable future, which, I’d imagine, leaves him with less time to spend with Ganke, Hailey and co. A character in this story I’d happily call a 10/10 is Kraven. He clearly was the biggest threat the Spider-Men had faced up until that point. Until Venom came along, of course. Kraven’s motivation makes his, well… motives understandable. But he:s still a cruel, evil, irredeemable guy. And it’s a nice change of a pace that a major antagonist has absolutely zero ties with Peter Parker/Miles Morales for once. Those villains can make for emotional moments, but it often feels like a bit too much of a suspension of disbelief for me, that so many people close to Spider-Man become his foes. Kraven mirrored Venom nicely as two sick people who did bad things as a result of that sickness. The guy was a badass and was so intimidating in every scene. And the fact that he actually won is great in my eyes. My only little gripe is that I’m not too big of a fan of him having an army of hunters, but it works for a videogame. You need goons to punch into pulp. Honestly, I liked Kraven so much in this game that he inspired a character in a story I’m writing. Venom was mixed, for me. Peter and Harry’s relationship was honestly just really wholesome and sweet in the beginning. Lovely bromance. Harry was just so endearing. Seeing him became a Spider-Pal for a little while was really fun. He was so optimistic until Peter’s near death. That’s where the first seeds of Venom are sown. I do get how his relationship with Peter starts to crumble during the second act. Harry feels like Peter owes him. He gave him the symbiote, that what was keeping him healthy and when he needed it, Peter eventually refused to give it back. I didn’t like how the ‘Norman sees Peter as his son, which angers Harry’ scene was shoehorned in. It doesn’t suit this version of Norman. And I never got the idea Peter was that close to him. Perhaps he could have been built up as the next father figure Peter trued clinging onto, after what happened with Otto. The third act is mostly where I am going to have some issues with him. The third act is where the pacing gets at its worst and Venom is no exception. First off… Harry should not have gotten the symbiote back the way he did. One if the annoying plot contrivances this game unfortunately has. Such as the fridge. I do think some of Pete’s plot contrivances can be traced back to his not so great mental state the game clearly tells you about. But some moments are still just kind of dumb. Back to Harry… the Venom gameplay sequence was simply spectacularly superior. A great power trip. A great setup for how much of a threat Venom would become. And great closure for Kraven’s story. I adore Venom’s design and voice. In those respects, Insomniac Venom is the best he’s ever been, in my eyes. But his motivations get scrambled too much and they contradict each other. He is mad at Peter for not saving him, but he wants him to join him as well. Venom keeps flip-flopping between those two motivations. Pick just one of them, please. I’m personally not too keen on the symbiote invasion for Venom. It works as a perverted version of healing the world, but I prefer Venom to be more focused on Peter and not really have ambitions for world domination (which is essentially what this was). And personally, I don’t like the wings that much. It’s cool to buff him even further and make him more of a threat, but I just prefer a slightly more toned down Venom.
Oh, Peter Parker. There’s a lot to unpack with you. I think his story could have been amazing in this game. And I still think it’s really good. But there is wasted potential. The premise of him burning himself out is honestly such a great one. And such a Spider-Man thing. Peter burns himself out by trying to be Peter Parker more, focusing on career and his friendships and relationship with MJ, but also Spider-Man who continues trying to helping people, to maintain that promise to uncle Ben. It’s a really good premise that just exudes classic Spider-Man dilemmas. Peter tries to say to himself ‘I can do both’. But he cannot. Spider-Man start to falter here and there. Miles honestly did most of the work against Sandman. Peter would have failed saving the people on the rollercoaster. And Kraven… it was a probably a mix of Peter not being at the top of his game and an element of surprise as to how serious of a threat Kraven really was. People criticise this game for making Peter look weak, but that’s mostly the point. Some of the ways it’s done feels a bit contrived at times, but I don’t mind that Peter is weaker when he’s not in the right mindspace. It makes total sense. When Peter struggles the least, is with the suit. He can contend with Kraven and eventually best him. He could defeat a Lizard bigger than the version he’d fought before. Due to the symbiote Peter could ‘do both’. At least for a while, before he gets too immersed in the suit. Then, his Peter Parker life starts to crumble, but he’s too drunk to notice the ramifications of that. I still think it’s kind of weird how Peter’s spider sense was… useless in the chapel sequence. He let the brute hunter hit him and he had all the time in the world to react. And somehow his webs were disabled… even though the symbiote now provides natural webbing. Odd. I like how Peter is extra cocky, whilst still being quirky, during the hunter invasion of Emily-May. And Harry kind of incentives this. He knows the symbiote is strong and Peter should have no trouble dealing with the hunters. It would have been nice for symbiote Spider-Man to get just that bit of extra time to simmer. A dash of extra missions and cutscenes would have come a long way to make the story more cohesive. A bit more Bully Lowenthal, if you will. But the third act needed to most fleshing out. The Scream boss fight was really cool. And it was a great way of addressing the relationship issues. I just wish we could have gotten more of Peter and MJ talking about their troubles without symbiotes being involved. Or a bit more of clearly displaying MJ is not fully content with their relationship, but is not eager to tell that to Peter, because she doesn’t want to hurt him. That would have made Scream more impactful. The birth of anti-venom was a good culmination of mostly Miles’ and Li’s arcs. I liked it. Though I like Spidey being a bit more plain, if you will. I like the symbiote because it gives Peter extra power, at the cost of his goodness. But, with anti-venom, it’s none of the drawbacks, which isn’t as interesting narratively. It’s good from a gameplay standpoint and to wrap up Miles and Li, but it doesn’t truly feel like Peter earned it. I also find it a bit weird that Peter and Li only get two short scenes together. Of course, let Miles be the focal point of why Li’s in this game, but Li is partially responsible for May’s death. And he had a pretty good relationship with Peter in the first game. Not nearly to the same extent as Otto, but Peter looked up to him as well, for being the good man that founded FEAST. Symbiote Peter tried attacking Li immediately when Li told him where Miles was held. And Peter had like two sentences to him after becoming anti-venom. Miles should have the greater anger towards mister negative, but Peter should have probably been really distressed by him being out there, somewhere, a free man. I like how Peter dreads having to lose someone again. May’s death led him to a worse place mentally, from which he’s still not recovered. Adding Harry to his pile of suffering, he couldn’t handle it. It would have perhaps been a bit more potent for Harry to die, but for Pete’s sake I’m glad he still has a chance. I don’t mind his (temporary) retirement at the end of the game. Spider-Manning has left such a big toll on him. And it’s all been piling up for a literal decade. Perhaps, through Emily-May, he could do even more good as your plain, old Peter Parker. His keen mind and strong sense of morality are perhaps greater powers than his spider sense, super strength, durability and agility. Peter deserves a break. If there’s a way for me to describe this game, I’d call it a ‘moments game’. The game has great moments. Great set-pieces on a bigger scale than the first two games ever had. But also same baffling moments, or contrived moments. And a lot of moments that are great, but could have hit a lot harder if the story had more meat on it. The first game just feels way tidier. And I feel like there is a lot more room for scenes outside of the mask, which makes the story feel more balanced. The first act still had that, but the second and third act gave very little time for that. A shame, in my opinion. I kind of feel like Spidey spectacle was chosen instead of unmasked dialogue. As well as MJ missions… they were decent this time, and when they popped up, they were at impactful story moments, but still… I’d rather play as the Spider-Men. I don’t mind MJ being brave, but she feels a bit too overpowered. I feel like Spider-Man 2 ups the scale nicely, but unfortunately loses a bit of the groundedness the first two entries had. The first crescendoed so nicely by having the Spider-Man and Peter Parker elements come together fully. And I don’t get the same feeling here. I feel like this game misses moments like Peter getting evicted, Miles getting sad when the death of Jeff appears on the TV he just fixed (and then Peter swooped in to prevent Ernie from hurting Miles more). Spider-Man 2 tried to cram more ingredients into the a game of the same length as the first. And that’s a big part of what makes the cracks appear. The third game in the series has the most (main) characters thus far and that’s been part of what made this game feel unfocused. It’s a pity. Act 3 was initially supposed to be so much bigger. Symbiote invasion of the Bugle, chasing Venom around the city. This act could have used more content to make the symbiote invasion feel more dire. Some smaller things… Why do so few QTEs not have actual consequences now? It’s a little thing, but I liked these little, almost what-if-like, cutscenes of Spider-Man failing to save people, or losing a fight. I think a lot of Peter’s suits from the first game were cut. And I mean, a lot I would have liked to see return. Especially in favour of the Kumo suit of something.
The third act feels rushed because it is. There was a lot of Venom content cut from the game ... and I mean like ... a LOT. Sony should have let Insomniac cook longer tbh
={[ D
It kinda feels like a web of shadows remake in a weird way? Lots of similar strengths and weaknesses.
Woke garbage
They could had played with all the responsability thing, peter wants a normal life, he wants his girlfriend, he wants a job, but he has the responsability of being a heroe, i thing spiderman ps4 did a got job, when peter needs to decide between his aunt and other people he doesnt even know, but then on Spiderman 2 they throw that sht by making peter take some vacations, like, dude, you let your aunt die for your responsability and now you give a f
W edit🔥🔥🔥🔥👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️
" Brilliant but lazy" I want that on my tombstone.
story that actually starts in 50's and ends in 2010's on peter's sacrifice is great loveletter for spiderman
32:15 Sukuna moment
The fact that I got the venom three trailer right when we got into the 80s is hilarious
This movie actually made people appreciate the amazing Spider-Man 2
idk anybody spotted this detail, but even in No Way Home, Norman's clean white teeth shows when Norman is in present. And Green Goblin's rotten a bit unbalanced teeth (which is real Willam Dafoe's teeth btw) show up when Goblin's present.
I’ve always thought Spider-Man ends up dying after defeating his enemy. Succumbing to his wounds sustained in battle. Going down like the old hero he always will be.
19:09 i understand what you mean... but gameplay wise, you just can not escape it at all! Why, you may ask? Take a good look at the boss fights, my friend. Without the parry mechanic, we could have never gained boss fights that had challenge and depth. And yes, Spider-Man is an acrobat, but he can block and be an acrobat at the same time... you just gotta learn how to improvise amidst the challenges.
*sigh*... the stakes, the drama, the pasing, and the characters were too safe for my liking. It was rushed, and they confirmed it. In Spider-Man 3... they better not mess this up, ESPECIALLY when we're getting a guy like the freaking Green Goblin. He's the guy that will bloody push peter parker towards his freaking limits.
MJ actually knew Peter was Spider-Man before he told her in 616 continuity as well.
Film was so bad that it killed bro
Ngl, this has to be one of my favorite alternate takes on Peter Parker. Like, he's not exactly "comics accurate," but I love the way they made him work while still staying true to who Spider-man is as a character. One of my favorite parts about Spider-man is how many different interpretations of him that there are, and Mcu Spidey being my favorite movie version of him definitely shows that in a way.
The writing in this game is embarrassingly bad!
Okay, listen. I am probably gonna get hate-spammed for this, but i thought Spider-Man Lotus was pretty good. Was it a little slow? Yeah. Was it kinda meh in terms of dialogue? Of course, all fan films are. But even through all that, I still genuinely enjoyed watching it. And i personally think that if you consider my perspective, the perspective of a man who was going through his own shit back when it came out, it's really not that bad. It's like it was saying to me "it's okay, man, you might think your happiness is gone, but you still have other people, other things that make you happy and make you believe your a badass." At the end of the day, my opinion is just my opinion; everybody can have their own opinions on it, and here's mine. So yeah 👍
All fan-made films are shit.
You’d be happy because now it has a proper animated adaptation
