    I think I would’ve done a pretty good job of building this model and had it done while you were putting on those corner clamps. I’m guessing those clamps cost more than a couple of those kits but hey to each own

    I don't have too much of a problem with (well made) plastic wheels on simple rolling stock. One benefit I have found is they NEVER short out on turnouts, or anywhere else, for that matter...they can be painted to look good, a rusty flat brown works for me 👍 and if the axle is part of the wheel, they are almost always in gauge, and of course will STAY that way. Naturally, I only do this on cheap, run-of-the-mill rolling stock...

    Goo gone why didn't anyone tell me this sooner and rubbing alcohol for train wheels very clever but i am having a track problem it one of those ez tracks and there is a plastic piece that looks like a road crossing implanted for vehicles to cross every time my trains hit it it derails all my engine's i couldn't figure out why til i had my dad look at it the first words he said was this isn't right so he measured it eel here's the problem some dumby got the measurements wrong it's three inches higher then wat it was supposed to be so my question is what type of Sandpaper do I use or a small sandpaper block if this isn't fixed it's going to tear the bottom of the locomotive's out or put a hole in it that's my biggest worry

    What’s the difference between splicer plugs and linker plugs? How would you use each?

    • @nssherwoodsub
      @nssherwoodsub ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. When you buy a splicer plug package, you get 12 splicer plugs. They connect two bare end wires together. A linker plug package contains 6 splicer plugs and 6 pigtail wires each with a female connector on one end. Example, the linker plug package would be used to connect a street light which has bare ends to a pigtail wire which is then plugged into a light hub. In reality, a linker plug package is more useful...Harold

  • @d.wendalattig5116
    @d.wendalattig5116 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the article. Just a thought comes to mind: Since it appears that the panel is mounted onto a facia material. If that material is thick enough it would provide protection from accidental brush-by contact with the toggle switches. If not, perhaps a pull-out "frame" or drawer mounting might be another option. (No broken switches or snagged clothing.)🚂🤔

    • @nssherwoodsub
      @nssherwoodsub ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment. The plexiglass itself is strong enough to resist accidental contact. Your point about the toggle handles is a good one as they could easily snag some clothing. Fortunately, this has not happened. For my next control panel, I'm planning to use plexiglass with low-profile momentary pushbuttons which should minimize this risk...Harold

    Goo gone is made from limonene, a citrus-based solvent. While Goo gone is non-polar (that's good for electrical contact cleaning), limonene residue ages into a pitch-like paste that's non-conductive and very difficult to remove. Goo gone gets the metal surfaces very clean at first, but the limonene residue will age into a non-conductive pitch-like paste, and heaven help you getting it off. Prefer a non-polar solvent that doesn't age into something bad -- use mineral spirits instead.

  • @joefugate2296
    @joefugate2296 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, professional electrical contact cleaning instructions ban the use of IPA for cleaning in electrical contact surfaces. Yes, it gets things very clean, but IPA is a polar solvent, which means it makes metal surfaces oxide up again rapidly, getting dirty very quickly again. Instead for electrical contact surfaces you want to prefer a non-polar solvent like mineral spirits. The cleaned contact surfaces stay clean much longer when you use a non-polar solvent to clean them.

    Greeting Harold, I am a newbie. I have installed Kadee # 158 couplers on a new Kato P-42 HO locomotive. I have also installed them on (5) Bachmann 85ft Dome Cars. The couple on the loco are lower than the dome car. I'm have uncoupling issues. If I change to a standard head #148 and connect a #142 (Overset Shank) coupler to the dome car will that help me with my coupler height issue? Is the #148 and the #142 compatible? I also was told that the standard heads are better. I would appreciate your thoughts.

    • @nssherwoodsub
      @nssherwoodsub ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question. I have not used standard head so I can''t comment about that. My experience with Kadee is that most of their couplers are compatible with each other should you should be ok,,,Harold
