I use plaster and mix it with very cold water from the refridg. Gives me about 1/2 hour working time. I put the mixed plaster in a old plastic mustard jar so I can squeeze out just as much as I need when I need it. Not as messy. I mix the plaster a little runny and it will almost flatten out if you tap the table as you squirt it out and it will need not so much working.
Thanks for your comment. Woodland Scenics recommends proportions of two parts Smooth It to one part water. I would recommend a little more water which makes it easier to work with and gives you more working time. This is a plaster product so NEVER put it down the sink during clean up...Harold
I appreciate the comment. The layout is never done but I'll keep working on it. Please look for the next video which is about assembling the Waffle House kit...Harold

Good idea. I especially like the mustard jar...Harold
Looks good Harold. Too messy for me though. Haha. On another note, I plan on painting my track ties but I’m sticking with walnut ballast. Compromise.
Mark...It's your railroad so go with whatever you like best but you should paint both the ties and the rails...Harold
You made it seem so easy....got my smooth it and paving tape....gonna be doing this soon 😊
