A Scotch Brite pad is fairly soft - I don't believe it scratched the boat. I waxed the area after cleaning off the rust and it looks great...for a 25-year old boat.

The oil is extremely thick - filling it from the top could lead to air pockets that won't be filled with oil. Filling from the bottom forces all of the air out and ensures the chamber is filled with oil.

Thanks for the feedback. It's mostly a cosmetic repair as it is so far above the waterline.

Sorry, works for me every time. Perhaps you have a different type of adhesive...you might want to try using a heat gun to soften the glue - you should then be able to scrape it off.

@@fixingstuff2647 No idea. It was a decal for a John Deere garden tractor. I finally used a citrus cleaner and a plastic spatula s using a slicing motion to peel it off.

@@fixingstuff2647 There is a guy doing a vid using toilet bowl cleaner and it does have some acid of some sort. I may not be able to find your vid to let you know tho.

@@fixingstuff2647 I did this as well, but went to a beekeepers store and bought 1kg oxalic acid for 3€. It works better than what you show here, no scrubbing, disappears before your eyes.

It seems unlikely that your lower unit oil chamber is blocked as it only contains oil. Be sure you've removed the upper drain plug so that the new oil isn't fighting against air pressure. Yes, all outboards have lower unit oil. You won't need to change the engine oil on a 2 stroke though because you mix oil with the gas.

There is oil in them what oil it uses ? 2 stroke oil?
