    Actually, in SG-1, Earth ships can do intergalactic travel from the beginning, but it would take MONTHS to make the journey. With a ZPM, that trip would take just a couple of weeks. We see this time and again in SG-1 where the power available and the efficiency of the drive system determines how fast a ship can travel in hyperspace.

    What I love about the 302 is it looks like something that really could come out of the Lockheed-Martin Skunkworks. Just like Daedalas and Prometheus look like they could have been built by General Dynamics Electric Boat.

      @johnmiller4859 Yes, I agree the designs are very plausible, and that is what makes Stargate good . The tech progression is steadily advancing, and once the tauri figure stuff out they reverse engineer the tech and build their own form of tech like the naquadah generators F-302, 303, 304, ARG to hand held life signs detectors even the beam weapons for the fleet.

    So how big was the Prometheus (X/BC-303)? It was definitely smaller than the BC-304, but it was also designed to carry and launch a complement of up to 8 F-302s, which means that its given length of 195m makes no sense. Just taking the 195m length, then multiplying it to match your scale for the BC-304 gives a length of about 630m for the Prometheus, but I'm unsure if this actually makes sense given what we were shown on-screen. Also, how big must a Ha'tak be, then? Because they were always portrayed as significantly larger than a 304, but the official figure is 700, long, which would make them smaller in at least one key dimension than a 304, which doesn't make visual sense when we look at what the show gave us.

    It was a decent fighter but in terms of design and loadout, it could've been better. The wings should've been outwards and foldable like the ones on the Super Hornet. The missile loadout should've been equal too or greater than the those of earthly fighters like the F-15 and the Super Hornet.

    Something I think you missed... I didn't hear you mention it either when talking about power supply, or the FTL engine, but... While it can be powered by the ZPM, the Hyperdrive is normally powered by a Naquadria reactor, regulated with a special regulating buffer component, as Naquadria is highly unstable. To be fair, it's described as how the X-303 promethius Hyperdrive works, not the BC-304s, but considering the 304 was designed before they got a ZPM, or Asguard power supply, you have to assume that they still used this as the Hyperdrive power supply as a default.

    • @SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y
      @SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y วันที่ผ่านมา

      @bobingabout in my research the 303 and 304 received asgard hyperdrive along with the shields the asgard hyperdrive are powered by naquada generators not naquadria only the human built hyperdrive engine use naqudria as a short cut as earth didint have the means to generate the immense energy needed but with the asgard engines they use powerful naquadah generators the show moved away from naquadria engines after the prometheus engine core blew up cause after that they retro fitted an alkesh hyperdrive engine then late upgraded to asgard engine so no from the show info and info I reserch for the video they don't use naquadria generators also the zpm was a add on power booster same as the asgard core the ships own power was only naquadah generators

    • @bobingabout
      @bobingabout วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y Considering for the most part "Put more energy in, Ship goes faster" is a general rule (Which is why a ZPM can get them to Pegasus in 2 weeks, rather than 2 months), they'd either still need a Naquadria generator to power the asgard hyperdrive, or a significant improvement in the Naquadah generator technology. Asgard technology doesn't actually use Naquadah to power their ships, they have something called Neutrino-ion generators. So unless the Asgard shared this technology, and it was incorporated into the 304, then the 304 likely still uses Naquadria to power the hyperdrive. I mean, I'm not going to outright say you're wrong, I'm sure the Asgard hyperdrive is more efficient than the Goa'uld design, but it also goes faster, so unless you can point me to specific evidence that it isn't using a Naquadria reactor to power the hyperdrive (in the absence of a ZPM), I'm going to assume it is.

  • @AC4ace
    @AC4ace วันที่ผ่านมา

    I hate videos that argue the BC-304 is so massive, because they all (yours included) use the F-302 as their yardstick. But your figures for the fighter are verifiably wrong. Because unlike with the 304, the 302 has been shown carrying not one, but two real-world objects that have known sizes. The first is their missiles, the AIM-120, which are 12 feet (3.65 meters) long. The second is the Stargate itself, which did have a full-sized physical prop that was 6.7 meters in diameter (outer edge to outer edge). And when you use those objects OF KNOWN LENGTH as your yardsticks, then the 'official' figures for the size of the 302 having a 26-meter wingspan is too big. By my reckoning, those figures need to be reduced by about 1/3. Now I'm not arguing that the 225-meter length for the 304 is correct when you revise things, just that your calculations are based on a clearly flawed starting point. But there's another underlying issue with the whole 302/304 scaling issue that videos like yours completely ignore. And that is, to my understanding, the 'official' size figures for both ships came from the same source. They clearly don't mesh with each other, but videos like this automatically assume that the figures for the 304 are wrong, yet those for the 302 are somehow right. If they have the same source, and that source is clearly incorrect, then why do you use them at all, instead of making an honest effort to come up with an accurate yardstick? SG1 provides sufficient visual evidence to determine the size of the 302 without having to rely on the suspect 'official' figures, so why doesn't anyone do that?

    • @SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y
      @SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y วันที่ผ่านมา

      @AC4ace I understand your point, and I agree and disagree with it. The sizes for the 304 online are conflicting sizes yes so I tend not to believe ither one on face value but i lean to the larger size now for the 302 it is stated to be 26m wide from wing tip to wing tip and we see a few shots in the show with people next to it showing it to be definitely wider than say an FA 18 so using that size of 26m W which yes can be wrong I then use a shot from the show to estimate the position relative to the hanger doors the 302 would be and scale from there as there is nothing eles to use as a measuring device this method is the only method I can come up with that can figure out the size of the 304. now if you wanted to change the size of the 302 to say 20m W it would still be the same number across so we can do the math 20mx28=560m L now that's more reasonable in length than 728m and this can work on any size you scale the 302 to let's say 15m wide 302 so 15m×28=420m now we are getting small about half the size of the 728m and 100m larger than the nimitz so as long as my estimate of the 302 position in the hanger door is correct we need to find the correct size of the 302 find that and do w×28= and boom size of the 304. I found and used the 302 size of 26m wide, which looks right to me, so that's what I used it probably too big, but again, it might not be the only way to definitely find out the size of the 304 and 302 is to ask the creator for it and unfortunately I don't have that information so I'm using what I can find I appreciate your comment and accept your premises

    • @AC4ace
      @AC4ace วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y There IS a definitive way to estimate the size of the 302. Look up "X-302 Testflight" here on TH-cam and you'll find a video of the 302, from its very first onscreen appearance, carrying the Stargate. The Stargate has a known, well-established size of 6.7 meters. We know this because there was an actual physical, real-world prop, and it's a matter of record how big it was. Checking that clip, it's clear that the 302 does NOT have a 26-meter wingspan, because if it did then you could fit nearly 4 Stargates side by side, when it's clear in that clip you could barely get 2. All that aside, your use of the 302 exiting the hangar of the 304 is a flawed premise to begin with, because the VFX artists for Atlantis are on record saying that they would alter the scale of the digital models all the time in order to achieve the best dramatic footage. They weren't the BSG reboot team that kept everything to scale, so using two different shots of the 302 next to the 304 could result in completely different size calculations.

I know it takes practice but it will be better for the channel in the long run. As for your breakdown, the Destiny had significantly quicker travel time between Galaxies than the hyperspace equipped ships did and I'm almost certain it's mentioned in the show that it was a more advanced drive than the traditional Hyperspace. It is just my theory, but i think, that ancients, when sending the expedition of Seeders and Destiny, prepared even for a situation, when A) too much of the Seeders got destroyed/lost/crippeled, and/or B) Destiny itself get too old to fly onwards, cripplingly dammaged or destroyed. In those cases, the WHOLE expedition is ireversibly busted. BUUUUT if the whole system (especially the Seeders, wich have yet unexplained extensive outer surface machinery, are probably capable to mine resources and contain factories to BUILD the stargates, while comunicating with Destiny and sending informations back and forth - possibly even serving as external memory banks and back-up coppies to the Destinys research) can be set up to (in threat of critical fairlure, like points A and B) to flock the Seeders around unocupied resources and build another seeders (or) build a total coppy of Destiny (including the re-upload of informations from its AI). If ever the Tauri expedition gets any reinforcements, those people should have 1) the best tech aviable to Tauri/Atlantis. Possibly including some tauri version of Puddle jumpers. 2) automatic mining and fabricating engines, 3) Seeds of majority of edible (and medicinal) vegetation, possibly even biological samples of smaller animals (fishes, chicken, rabits). Preferable technology to bring, would be some version of "replicators" - because THAT kind of technology would allow to bring through the gate even big ships (cruiser and bigger). Not to mention, IF the Destiny gets enough of its "bateries" replaced for new and fully working, it could be able to connect the gate to the Milky way again... BTW, i think Tauri should do its best to create its own version of ancient drones. I can immagine that as a torpedo like shape (say same shape and dimmensions ans one of the aerospikes of F302s - 3 meters long, meter wide and half of meter "tall".) One such drone would have single railgun (to spare actual drones when facing simple, fragile and relatively "cheap" starfighters and dammage the BIG targets BEFORE they get actually hit by the main warhead). That kind of "Superweapon" can be extremely ussefull in Stargate setting for numerous reasons, one of wich is the fact, you can send (and still pilot) the drones THROUGH the stargate in both offensive way, or simple transport of material to the other side (say to re-arm the other side). IF the Tauri wants to make its superweapon with more bang, They can use the Tauri-drones in long-range mode (let it gain extreme speed close to 1C) and than smash into the target. IF Tauri needs more quicker BIG BANG, they can try to reverse-engineer the FTL, slap it on the drone and use it as FTL kamikaze. Alternative to that would be MICRO hyperdrive, to simply "blink" the drone with (probably naquadria) warhead INSIDE the big target. AAAAAAND of course, you can hang those things on almost ANYTHING (even F302s could haul 2 to 6 of said "drones"...). Not mentioning, you can FIRE those things even from the surface of planet (simply from its storage).

    They found that the Destiny and the seed ships had the capability to make stargates and setup nodes for their use. It was thought to be the primary function of the seed ships(to expand the stargate net). They found this out when a seed ship showed up which had been taken over by aliens. Also most of the ship was unexplored. Supposedly due to how poor a shape the ship was in. Large parts of it were blocked off. Loved the show and wish they had finished it with the return home or to a place from which they could return home. Instead, they just left it with all but Eli being put in suspended animation. It needed and indeed deserved an ending with a bit more closure.

    Ok info, but I'm kinda wondering, if the ship was made to be unmanned, why is there crew quarters? And when rush and the crew opened the gate to destiny why would the co2 scrubbers be shot if no crew was on board what would be the purpose of running oxygen and gravity in the ship? And after millions of years wouldn't the AI attack anyone who was not an ancient for trespassing on the ship?

    • @SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y
      @SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      the premises of the ship is it was launched automatically from Earth to explore the universe, and one day, the ancients would board the ship, the ancients ascended before that happend so destiny was forgotten until earth figured it out. now don't forget that humans are descended from the anceints and thecniclly are the same species so humans are able to use ancient tech with realitve ease and with the co2 scrubbers the ship is millions of years old I imagine the compound used in the scrubber went bad over time. I don't think the co2 scrubbers were running until the icarus crew arrived, so when destiny fired up the life support, the compound used had expired. I imagine Destiny had a replacement compound in a random cargo bay, so the ancients could fix it easy, but for us humans who don't know anything about the destiny it was harder to fix plus don't forget is was the creative decision by the writer to have the first half of the first season to air, water, power so on. and as viewers, we can only guess what happened to the ship.

      @SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y I guess it's wide open to interpret the actual situation, on certain humans had the ATA gene and everyone else may have gotten the treatment, the life support situation is when they fell through the gate, it should have been a hard vacuum with no air to turn on life support and the gravity was already working, not to hate because I love SG1 and SGA , I'm trying to get into SGU, but after watching the Expanse some of the stuff is hard to go along with, your specs of the ship are great

    Small correction. The Prometheus and the Daedalus are not sister ships. That would imply ships within the same class. Those two vessels aren't anywhere near the same class by any measure. I also take issue with the use of the term Battle cruiser. Let's be honest, they chose that term because it sounds cool. But that's a whole different conversation. One thing I never liked was that everyone forgot was the Earth-symbol was actually not the Earth symbol. The dotted triangle was the SECOND symbol used for Earth. Earth's original symbol was an underscored circle. So in Destiny, which was millions of years before Ra deployed to Earth the Giza gate, the "Earth-symbol" must have had a different meaning. I presume it means "Avalon".

    Sci-fi Nerd, one point, though perhaps it's understandable. Your Stargate at the beginning was an Avalon gate, but it only had seven active chevrons. Since this is SGU, I think nine chevrons should be lit, regardless of whether an Avalon or Destiny-class Stargate is used. Okay! Well-played! The first gate had seven, but your viewing gate had nine.

      I believe I have positioned the f-302 in the correct position in relation to the hanger doors has the hanger doors are smaller than the actulal size of the hanger itself. Look at the image with the front view. I looked at the image from the episode the f 302 is flying out the hanger with atleast half the size of the 302 remaining each side of the door with the 302 in the middle so going of that I placed the 302 in the hanger door in the same place with the rough space remaining each side of the 302 then I kept that scale and did the working out now I'm not saying I'm correct I'm just saying that the shows scene determined the location and intern my calculation of the size of the 304 but again this is a rough estimate I could do it again and place 302 to fit the entire width on the hanger door the ship would still be big but as there'd space each side of the 302 in the doors I've opted for this scale
