What I love about the 302 is it looks like something that really could come out of the Lockheed-Martin Skunkworks. Just like Daedalas and Prometheus look like they could have been built by General Dynamics Electric Boat.
@johnmiller4859 Yes, I agree the designs are very plausible, and that is what makes Stargate good . The tech progression is steadily advancing, and once the tauri figure stuff out they reverse engineer the tech and build their own form of tech like the naquadah generators F-302, 303, 304, ARG to hand held life signs detectors even the beam weapons for the fleet.
If you think about it there are a number situations where the F302 should have used its hyperdrive to bypass impossible to penetrate shields and save the day
-The Ori satellite and saving the Prometheus
-The Camalot Battle of 4 Ori mother ships.
-The Assuran stargate powered satellite laser that attacked Atlantis.
-A missile built with micro jump hyperdrive could have destroyed all 12 Hive ships in Atlantis first Season.
It's basically an unbeatable weapon
@saquist yh and that's why I don't count it for the mass-produced F-302s as we don't ever see it used again after anubis Super is destroyed, so I figured it's dropped from the design
Well with the Hyperdrive developed for the Puddle Jumpers by McKay they probably have a improved version. i can see it being used like the turbo boost on the original Vipers in BSG to get close really fast in a few seconds burst or cross a system like a stone skipping on water in multiple micro jumps.
Wouldn't even need a warhead in a hyperspace missile, imagine it just opening a huge unstable window INSIDE a target and ripping it apart like a opening Stargate vortex
@@thanqualthehighseer hmmm very very true. That could have been done by any ship. It's a very good practical weapon
I love your content. thank you so much for your break downs!
@@Skorch88 your welcome Im happy you enjoy them
13.62 is close to 44'6". So it's probably built in imperial units like most American stuff.
@IRMacGuyver most likely, I use metrics myself. i grew up learning mm cm m km for building or drawing measurements miles for distance, mph for speed, feet and inches for hight of people, stone for weight of people and grams kg tonnes for all other weight
Great video about the F-302, hope with it's dimensions can help when Goa'uld Death Glider, Wraith Dart and the BC-303 Prometheus are shown next.
next video is going to be trying to figure out destiny's FTL speed then the Prometheus breakdown is after also the death glider is around 14m wide, smaller the the F-302
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Ydestiny ftl speed=ludicrous speed
It was a decent fighter but in terms of design and loadout, it could've been better.
The wings should've been outwards and foldable like the ones on the Super Hornet.
The missile loadout should've been equal too or greater than the those of earthly fighters like the F-15 and the Super Hornet.
@@Stinger522 yh i agreed the number of missilse are a bit under numbers as 4 seems a bit to few for a long battle I reckon 4 to 6 missiles each side totaling 8 to 12 aim 120 that enough for a long duration fight and with the shape it was definitely designed to emulated a death glider but yh in shots it sits so close to the ground it surprising it dosent catch on take of and landing
Second! Yayyy!
X-301, X302/F-302 is one of my favorites sci-fi aircraft designs. Perfect video. Also about the AIM-120s. Aren't they naquadah enhanced too? It would actually make sense since they took down an Alkesh in three hits and i don't think a regular AIM-120 could do that on three hits. But maybe i am wrong too. Who knows?
@7:07 i say the aim 120 missiles are naquadah tipped and with the F-302 i fell in love with it the moment i saw it as a kid for the first time its my favourite fighter
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y Ohhh...than i missed the naquadah part, my bad. 😁
@martinantab3520 No worries, my speaking is a little fast. sometimes it is probably my fault for not being clearer
I've always wondered why they didn't upgrade it with beam weapons
@jamesamy1963 maybe the beam cannon itself is to large for the F-302 or it could be a power issue you never know
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y Given SGC's propensity for reverse engineering things I don't doubt they could have miniaturized the beam weapon, but iirc the F-302's power supply is a naquadria reactor which has a much higher output than a standard naquada reactor but also gets increasingly unstable the higher the power demand is. That is why they couldn't use the hyperdrive as the power supply got too unstable at that load, so it could be the case the same would happen if they tried to power the meme beams with one.
Did they really need the 302 to have the bent wings like the death gliders?
The 302s were built entirely of naquadah? I don't think so. Although they never mentioned what the 302s were made from, they mention that the X-303 is made from a combination of trinium, naquadah and titanium, wouldn't the 302 be made of the same stuff? Mentioned in the season 6 Prometheus
@dragonweyr44 it's more a naquadah composite, and the design of the 302 to be similar to a death glider is an interesting concept and is imo the so what correct way to go if your trying to in a way copy your enemy
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y I can see why they had the bent wings on the 301, because, as Jacob Carter said, "You ground a death glide, slapped a US Air Force sticker on it, and called it a day."
But the bent wings don't make sense on the 302. They nearly touch the ground with the landing gear down
It would be worse if they can't come down
Like Cam Mitchell could attest to
@dragonweyr44 yh the x301 was a repaired death glider, but the f -302 is man made, so it does make me wonder why it copies the shape of the death gliders maybe the shape has meaningfull purpose if it does its never stated. I just think that the tauri just went lets build our own death glider, and th e 302 is the result." That's my guess
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y You would think that it would be for lift in atmosphere, but it doesn't work like that
Also, why didn't they give it a name, like the F-15 Eagle, or the F-16 Fighting Falcon, or the hornet or Tomcat?
Yes!! 57 seconds ago and im on this like a tramp on chips
all i can say is thank you for the support enjoy the content

What about Babylon 5 earth fighter
@moxgion ah the starfury now that's a great fighter it also was one of the first fully cgi fighters on screen and it had very realistic engines for space flight definitely up there in my list of favourites
Scale seems off a little to me. I think it's about 50% smaller than 26 meters wide.
@TJAllcot it's hard to tell, but it's definitely around 20m wide due to the size of it in the hanger with people. If it was 50% smaller, it would be the same width as the f18, and in every shot on the show shows, the 302 is much larger
@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y it's a shame that the set plans for the actual prop F302s aren't available.
@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y if you look at the hanger image, especially the guy standing next to the cockpit, the top of the cockpit is about elbow height and at top of the intake is about shoulder height. The digital estimate has that intake higher. My initial 50% is definitely wrong, maybe 20 to 25 percent smaller. Might be closer to 20 meters wide.
Why can’t it be while numbers?
Because the writers
@sg-24 whole numbers buddy
