I was born in Scunthorpe! Steel Town. Twice in a single game. The roundabout said "Frodingham Grange". This is one of the villages that became Scunthorpe and the actual area I was born in.

Smashed Liverpool without moving in less than a minute, then struggled endlessly with Gatwick and still didn't get it (settled on wrong branch of currency express). Scunthorpe x2 both fine, recognised the motorway junction in the second one very quickly once I realised I wasn't in Rainham, Essex. Mildenhall I initially confused with Meadowhall in Sheffield but once I realised I was wrong I found Littleport which is very near my sister in Ely - beautiful part of the world but too many American airmen ;)

The RAF base you mentioned in the last round was featured in not one, but two movies starring Pierce Brosnan, The Fourth Protocol and Tomorrow Never Dies! Another fun game :)

RAF Mildenhall is a USAF base as is RAF Lakenheath.

I was quite proud of myself on this one, but clicking the wrong street on Round 2 dropped me down to 4th place.

Round 1: Couldn't quite do this without moving, but nearly so. An easy round nonetheless. Round 2: Gatwick Airport north terminal for the second time in two games! This time I was able to get 4 yards away without moving, so definitely happy with that. Round 3: This one did require moving as a high street like this could be just about anywhere. I decide to move east and find a Cooplands bakers, which says we're in the north of England (possibly specifically Yorkshire but I'm not certain on that), a bit further on the council have helpfully painted the coat of arms on the street and even more helpfully that includes "Borough of Scunthorpe" on it. It took a minute to remember where Scunthorpe is but once I do I get 6 yards away. Fun fact about Scunthorpe is that it's most famous for the "Scunthorpe Problem" whereby automatic online content filters block mention of the name because of the second to fifth letters of the town's name. Round 4: Nearly went very wrong with this! I saw a sign on the stadium saying what I think is "Rainham Steel" so I spend time looking around Rainham in Essex failing to find anything like this out-of-town shopping centre (unsurprisingly given it's proximity to the huge Lakeside shopping centre). A bit more moving and I see "North Lincolnshire Shopping Park" then a sign for the A1077(M) (the UK's newest motorway number; google "A1077(M): Pathetic Motorways Style" to read more about it, it's worth it). Round 5: Sainsbury's helpfully tells us we're in Mildenhall. I know that has an RAF base but I don't remmeber where in the country it is. A bit of moving and the sign to Thetford and Bury St. Edmunds is all I need to find the town and the Sainsbury's turns out to be prominent on the map. Overall 19 yards away across all the rounds in 26 minutes, can't complain about that.

Just south of Bromley in Keston, legend (i.e. probably made up) has it that Julius Caesar was setting up camp and needed water. He spotted a raven 🐦‍⬛ returning to one spot in the woods. That spot was the source of the river now known as the Ravensbourne that runs through Bromley, a tributary of the Thames. So that is the reason for the raven mascot.

As a fan of brutalist architecture I noticed the last round straight away, just behind The Forge retail park were the now demolished Gallowgate towers. I would recommend having a look at them on Google to see just how dilapidated and dystopian they looked just before they were knocked down.

London Oxford Airport is a lot further from central London than Southend but they renamed it some years back to include the 'London' as a large part of their business is for private jets who (they say) can land at London Oxford then take a helicopter trip to Battersea for less than it would cost them to land at the main London airports. So one for the budget-concious private jet+helicopter taxi brigade! Perhaps Southend is similar.

Palm trees are not too uncommon in the south of the UK due to the Gulf Stream keeping the climate mild. Warm summers and relatively mild winters compared to other countries. I was surprised to learn how palm trees do survive winters.

Keilaniemi tower: Old HQ of Neste Oil. Used to be called "Tooth of Raade", built in beginning of 1970s when CEO of Neste was Uolevi Raade; a famous personality who made even Napoleon seem modest.

Tried it as a no move challenge. Last round wrecked me. Although weirdly I took about 10 steps game says only 2 but then it also claims I took a step on another round when I didn't. Still, 3 steps perfect score and 38 total yards I'm happy with

At 15:58 or so, there's a building that has the text "pupusaari" on it. That means "bunny island" so I had to google what it is. It was a small chain of cafes, but seems like they went bankrupt two years ago, because of Covid. Too bad.

3rd round really confused me for a bit, but managed to get all of them eventually. @4:03 The area is called Keilaniemi, "Keila" can mean "(bowling) pin" among other things. Although that is not where the name of the area comes from, I believe the exhibit with the bowling pins was made with that in mind. The building is called Accountor Tower btw, built in 1976. Used to be the tallest high-rise building in Finland until 2006 and it still is the tallest office building in Finland. @15:09 Finally figuring out how Espoo is pronounced :D

There's some geomagnetic storm going on at the moment. According the news the Northern Lights have been seen even in southern parts of Europe. In Finland it's been rather cloudy and rainy so chances to see them has been limited. People living in the north are of course yawning. As must a US person do when viewing Finnish skyscrapers. Now and then there's a heated discussion in Finland about whether skyscrapers are needed or if they just ruin the skyline and landscape. Not the most obvious place for a company like KONE to origin from. You might have seen this already: "Inside The Lab That Tests Elevator Free-Falls". Maybe a dream of seeing skyscrapers in Finland led some Finnish game developers to develop this game about building them: "Engineering the perfect ONE TILE city in Cities Skylines!". Getting back to astronomy, it might be able to see the comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS in some parts of Finland in following days. Relating also comets, Dr. Pekka Janhunen, of the Finnish Meteorological Institute, has been thinking of how to take humans to space and to colonize places where no man has gone before: "What is an Electric Sail? Another Exotic Way to Explore the Solar System" and "S01E15 "Building Space Cities Around Ceres" - featuring Pekka Janhunen".

Yet another nice map by Miika. 3 of the rounds were in my home city :) Anders Adlercreutz whose election ad you saw at 13:32 is a politician and he is currently the Minister of Education of Finland. 15:10 perfect pronunciation. Letter O is always pronounced like that and double OO is just longer. Never like in English word "boom".

Yeah most of the high buildings in Finland are in Capital region. Of course there are some in other cities but those are in minority. The end of the tunnel sign: It marks the end of tunnel area. Those areas have specific traffic laws related to them. Like no parking, no stopping, no passing and keep your lights on. So law requires there to be end of tunnel sign to notify drivers when this special area ends. As you can see the area extends out side the tunnel proper.

I think tradition dictates you're meant to put up Christmas decorations on Christmas Eve, but people usually do it quite a bit earlier! The one real rule is that all the decorations need to be down again by Epiphany, so you have to take all the decorations down on the 5th January (or the 6th depending on exactly where you think 12th Night falls...).

There is absolutely no point to have that "tunnel ends" sign but the idiot law makers claim that since there are specific laws, eg. no stopping in tunnels etc. that it needs to be there to tell where the laws concerning tunnels end. The government would save money to not put those stupid signs. Anyone can tell when the tunnels end.

FINLAND FRIDAY🥳🥳🥳

Plenty of tunnels on the main highway between Turku and Helsinki. The second building was one of the first high buildings in Finland. Built in 1976, originally an office building of the national oil refinery Neste.

Nice video :D I've actually been to all these buildings somehow and recognized every one of them instantly. 3 of the buildings were actually in Espoo and only 2 were in Helsinki :)

Ipswich round I spotted the Premier Inn in the streetview right away and when I zoomed in on the map the pin for it just jumped out at me. Was painful watching you pan round the Premier Inn on the map. As for palm trees, you mostly find them either South Coast such as Cornwall or sometimes on the west coast of Scotland where the Gulf Stream keeps them warm.

I think the large bowling pins in Keilaniemi are there as an artwork because "keila" means 'bowling pin' (among other things).

This one was unusual for me because I saw a shopping area in Hull that I have been to quite recently, and then for the Bath one - it placed me a walking distance from a place a stayed on holiday about this time last year. So those two were probably the easiest Geoguessrs I've ever had lol

Most people in the UK put their Christmas decorations up at the start of December. Supermarkets and other places do it a lot earlier though, usually at the start of November once Halloween and Bonfire Night are over.
