Call me weird but I like smaller books. Black hammer size was way too big for my personal taste. Reckless size is perfect
We are ALL weird here! I get it. It is a handy very carry friendly size.
Awesome video!! Thank you
You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
If only there exists a horror film about myself.
well maybe one day!
I have been hoping for an all time top 10 movie list from you since you’ve started doing this!
Thanks! I will have to do it!
I want to see your list of top 10 favorite movies of all time. 🙂
Thanks! That's one vote!
Great list. Fright Night might be my all-time favorite on it. I never cared for An American Werewolf in London. I didn't think it was funny and the fact that the werewolf was on all fours was a disappointment. I actually liked The Howling more. The Werewolves in that one looked like the one Bernie Wrightson drew in Swamp Thing#4. Just an opinion not discounting your personal taste.
Oh I get it! The Howling is another GREAT one! I do sort of prefer the upright walking werewolves too...just love that John Landis movie despite that fact.
Excellent picks Larry! Happy Halloween! 🎃
Thanks! Same to you. I KNOW you love Halloween!
great list!
Thanks Mark!
Some entertaining movies, I liked Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned and the fun pop video nod to The Cabinet of Dr Caligari. Another tough list, considered The Fog, Let the Right One In, The Hunger, ended up with ten of my favourites that I've probably seen the most. Sixth Sense - 1999 White Noise - 2005 Nadia - 1994 Dagon - 2001 Alien - 1979 Event Horizon - 1997 The Thing - 1982 Frankenstein - 1931 Bride of Frankenstein - 1935 Night of the Demon - 1957
NICE! Thanks for adding those! I do need to re-watch those Universal Frankenstein movies! I did LOVE Event Horizon & the Sixth Sense too!
@@LarrysLibrary The Universal classic horrors are such good movies, one film was niggling the back of my head since posting and I remembered it this morning .. Innocent Blood 1992
@@ellesse3862 I forgot about that one! That was another great John Landis film!
Nice list! I'm not a real fan of horror movies as most of them I find quite idiotic but there are a number that stuck with me. For me, the vibe of the movie is what really makes it interesting and not so much the amount of gore. I'm going for a mix of cult and modern, in no paticular order: The Thing (1982) Suspiria (2018) Cannibal Holocaust (1980) 28 Days Later (2002) Interview with the Vampire (1994) Exhuma (2024) Hereditary (2018) The Fly (1986) The Blair Witch Project (1999) Barbarian (2022)
I kind of forgot about the 1986 the Fly! That was so awesome. Jeff Goldblum was terrific in that. I remember liking Blaire Witch a lot too.
The Thing!
John Carpenter's or the OG or both?
@@LarrysLibrary Carpenter's 100%. I think it's the greatest remake of all time and a perfect film.
@@peterlinfield I need to see it again. I was always partial to the original as it is the first film I remember ever seeing. I should watch them back to back!
Thanks for the list Larry, I was wondering what to watch this month I appreciate the material
Glad to help. Thanks for watching
A funny thing about this list is that I have a different idea of what horror movies are… but every one you listed here is one I love 😅. All would be in my top 100; a few are in my top 10!
Cool! There are so many to choose from it's hard to narrow it down.
Great list with a lot of my favorites. Now I'm inspired to rewatch some of these for october and check out the night of the living dead sequel reboot for the first time.
Let me know what you think of that Tom Savini Dead remake. I was prepared to hate it and I ended up loving it.
I recently read 10 Thousand Black Feathers and at the time, I didn't know it was part of this bone mythos series. I liked it a lot until the end. I was completely confused by it. I thought, maybe I needed to read one of the others first, but based on this review, I'm not sure it will provide anything. I'm still intrigued enough to give this one a shot.
Hah...next review is 10 Thousand Black Feathers so I can't comment on this! I WANT TO! We will have to compare notes again next Monday!
@@LarrysLibrary nice! I can’t wait!
Thanks for sharing! I’m going to check out the movies I haven’t seen over this Halloween season.
Awesome. Thanks for watching
My 10 favourite in no paticular order: The Mist, Alien, The Thing, 28 Days Later, The Exorcist, The Haunting (1963 version), The Shining, The Birds, Suspiria (original) and Jaws. Also love many of the others on your list!
The birds is a great example of a movie that did not stand the test of time 🙈 I watched it a decade ago and could only think how silly it actually was. But I do love nearly all the other movies in your list!
Thanks for watching and adding you favorites! I love most of yours too
In no particular order: - Evil Dead, The Thing, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Christine, Hellraiser, Candyman, Pet Semetery, Pumpkinhead, The Descent (director’s cut), Alien
NICE! Thanks Deathtone
Great list! If you like zombies you have to check out Train to Busan, 28 Days Later & Shaun of the Dead. Also The Cabin in the Woods is excellent and unique in how it mixes different styles of horror (and it stars Thor!)
LOVE Shaun of the Dead and Cabin in the Woods!
How do you feel about the remastering of the 90s Night of the Living Dead film about 15 years or so back that darkened the image in several scenes? Were you able to see that version? I believe it was the one that Twilight Time used for their Blu-Ray. Though, I've heard that recently another newer master that Sony put out has helped correct a lot of those issues, but I don't have that Blu-Ray and I haven't seen it on TV for about 6 or 7 years.
I'm not sure if I've seen that one or not! There were so many versions over the years!
Appreciate your honesty!
I try! Thanks for watching!
there is just something with italian artists
Yes...I like the highly detailed panels a lot
I love this duo ever since they did New 52 Green Arrow and Gideon Falls. The two series that follow this one are much better, it's all part of their world building. Keep 'em coming!
Will do...I am reviewing the whole series!
I've only heard this one isn't good, so I skipped it. I haven't heard a lot better from the other books, so I'm not sure if I'll ever jump in.
I get it! I have reviews lined up for all the parts
Thank you for the review. As a fan of Lemire, and a huge horror buff, I wanted to love the Bone Orchard Mythos books but sadly haven’t. Feels like the wanted to do some connected universe but gave up midway through. Tenement was the most fleshed out but even that one felt unfinished to me.
Thanks for watching! I have more to come
great review
Thanks mark!
Great review, Larry.
Thanks Deathtone!
Love this style of over view. Good stuff larry!
Thanks for watching!
This was such a pleasant listen. You're very wholesome and have good opinions. Ive searched for a review immediately after reading this book and I really agree with you on the ending. I'm subscribing and curious for more! 🫶
Thanks so much. Sometimes I think about quitting TH-cam but then I get a nice comment like this one and it brings me right back!
I could tell when I finished that the ending was going to be very unsatisfactory for a lot of folks. I tried to give a sense of it to someone without spoilers and the best I could do was say, remember the series finale of the Sopranos? If you’re ok with how that ending left that story, then you can probably find this ok too. 😅
To me it's just a NON ENDING. Not good
Really appreciate the honest review. I was on the fence about this book, but your honestly has likely spared me some disappointment.
I'm glad I could help...just wished it was a better verdict!
Instead of giving us endless remakes & reboots Hollywood should be adapting this. Helen Mirren would be great as the kick-ass Granny. I've only read the first half of the story in trades. As it would cost as much to buy the hardcover, I'll probably buy this edition. Then I'll have to buy the first hardcover edition to match it on the shelves. Darn! It's a double-dip trap.
It's the best kind of trap! Great movie idea!
Hey Mark!
Great review, Larry.
Thanks Deathtone!
Wish I would have found your channel sooner. I had no idea about in stock trades. I just ordered a bunch from Amazon cuz it was cheap but I always worry about them damaged the books. In stock trades packages those so nicely. I’ll definitely need to start ordering from them in the future .
Thanks for watching! YES - IST is a real game-changer!
I used to pre-order all brubaker books but after this one and where the body was, I'm gonna stop buying them before reviews hit. It's a great duo but I'm starting to think that Ed is out of ideas
Well it has to get harder and harder for someone that has had this much hugely successful and popular books....always being compared to past works.
Yo check his Captain Marvel run
I hear great things about that!
@@LarrysLibrary Yeah it's awesome!
@@LarrysLibrary you got Comic Geeks btw?
@@NoobM036 not sure what you mean
@@LarrysLibrary'league of comic geeks'
Thanks for the review Larry, I guess even Brubaker can have a bad day in the office.
Appears so yes!
Loved Where The Body Was but this & Night Fever were somewhat disappointing. I don’t think horror is really Brubaker’s strong suit at least not anymore. The twist of *Spoiler* being bad was so obvious. On the one hand I was surprised by the ending but on the other hand if someone said the ending was lazy it would be hard to disagree.
I liked Night Fever a lot but I am in the minority on that one. This is the first one that really let me down!
Where the Body Was is my favorite of their recent stand alone books. Even that one I think needed to be about twice as long as it was. Just when I was really getting into it, it was over.
This is the first one that's really let me down
Thanks for the honest review!
No problem. Thanks for watching!
If you like the story of this, you might like Department of Truth. There are some similar themes with the satanic panic stuff in that as well.
Yes that one sounds really good too!
Great review, Larry. Perhaps Ed is stretching himself out too much. He’s writing these books and has his hands in a number of television projects.
That could be it!
Completely agree with you on the ending. So disappointing and really ruined an otherwise great book. I wasn't so hot on Night Fever or Where the Body Was, so reading this and it starting out so strong got me excited that I'd finally really love a book since Reckless, but nope. I think this is the worst work they've done unfortunately. I've been tempted to do a video on it, but didn't know how to approach it without being too mean 😅
I nearly didn't make the video as I don't usually even go this negative!
@@LarrysLibrary yeah I don't blame you, but I think it's worth doing for something so high profile
@@LarrysLibrary appreciate your honesty!
@@ShogunZIlla Thanks I try!
I couldn't agree more with giving this book a bad review!
This is the most negative review I've ever put in a video!
@LarrysLibrary It was way too positive still!! 🤣🤣
@@HarveyPekarsGhost Well I really did like it until that non ending
I bought this a while back but never found time to read it though.
Well it's a very quick read.
I got this volume along with Fantastic Four Vol 1. $200 for the pair was a steal.
Very NICE!
I picked this one up in recent sale, I have FF/spidey/avengers Vol. 1 in the super duper version...unbelievable quality!
