Thanks. Starting the YT channel has made me look back into some of the stories from the past. I'd forgotten just how many stories have been done over the past eight years for the Republican-American.
I still own my first car i got a week before i turned 16. I just turned 47. Its a 72 cutlass s supreme 2 dr hardtop. Came as a basket case. I was helping my dad restore cars in his freetime. He had a 70 442 2dr fastback at the time. Mine has gone through so many changes over the years. My mom used to help work the jack for me when dad was at work, and i would be changing rearends or transmissions. Mine was frame off in like 2005.
It's hard to precisely say how long each story takes as many appear first in the Republican-American newspaper in CT. I always try to fill the newspaper's needs in 10 hours or less. That includes identifying a subject and scheduling an interview, driving to the location and recording the interview on video, shooting still photos and getting clips of the vehicles out on the road. Once back in the office, I sort the photos and pick appropriate ones for the newspaper. I then transcribe the interview and write a 750 to 1,000-word story. After that, it's write a script for the video (which later gets repurposed here on the TH-cam channel), record the narration, edit the video package, and upload it (either to the newspaper or to the TH-cam channel for stories not done for the newspaper). The newspaper pays a flat $175 rate for the written story, 10 +/- photos, and a three- to five-minute video, which works out to slightly more than minimum wage - less than minimum wage if you take into account the cost of gas, photography gear, SD cards, and computer equipment. For instance, just bought a new 14TB external hard drive for about $300 as I was running out of storage space. Repurposing the stories on the TH-cam channel enables me to wring a little more income out of each story; roughly $20 to $30 per week. Why do I do it? For one, the cars and the people. Get to see some great models and interesting folks. It's fun. And, two, having worked in the news business for 50 years, I care deeply about the state of journalism and the future of reputable news organizations likes traditional newspapers. I don't want to see them go under. That's the long answer. The short answer for a story done just for the TH-cam channel is maybe five hours once everything is collected. Of course, repurposing a newspaper story on TH-cam - changing out the logo, adding a new voice tag, uploading and promoting it, etc. - takes maybe a half-hour. Coming later this week is a story on an old International Harvester Scout.
Another great story. Keep 'em coming !

Wonderful story and super great car from another era.
Thanks for watching!
Darn nice cars man💯😎
My best friend had a 71 442 4 speed back in the late 80s. That car was so cool. And it was quick.
Still is cool!
@ride-ct-classiccars absolutely. I miss those days!
Oldsmobile 442 W-30! Glenn
The guy talks like he’s STONED out of his mind!!!

Nope, he's just mellow. Does love his Oldsmobiles. Has a great shop at his house.
Olds guy as well. Why settle for less. My first car was another classic 57 Chevy

Good for you! The Cutlass S was - and is - a nice car. My Dad had three Cutlasses over the years.
All 442's have that roof line - the Supreme has the notch back ...
@ not true. Theres 442's that are not fastbacks, and also were convertibles.
@ likewise you can get a supreme, or f85 or s as a fastback
Great story! I garaged my car at Site X to hide exploits from Dad!
How many hours of post production work for typical RiDE-CT video?
