DIY Power Rack Attachments using VEVOR Bench Grinder
I like Ritfit. I ordered their Preacher Curl bench, and had some questions beforehand. They were very nice and responsive. I may some day sell my Leg Press and get their Leg Press Hack Squat combo, the new one with a high weight capacity
I received box 1 of 3 today for their new Leg Press. Box 2 and 3 should arrive tomorrow. That review should be out later this month.🤘🙏💪
Hi- great video! Question if I may: With my power rack, what do you think of using the same method and materials to build DIY Pin & Pipe safety bars for my bench press? I would need a 36" pipe and I would secure on the front frame and the rear frame, on both sides. Thanks!
Updated Version of this video is here: th-cam.com/video/ZT26I7Ss1A0/w-d-xo.html . Your idea will work if your rack has 1" holes. That being said, you could just use 1/2" plumbing nipples instead of 3/4" and then you will not have to do any grinding. The 3/4" will be able to handle a greater load than 1/2" though. Either way - these are hollow pipes and will bend if a heavy load is dropped on them. Honestly, since we are dealing with safety here and the fact that those 36" nipples are not cheap...I would just buy pin pipe safeties. In fact, these ones from Bells of Steel MIGHT BE cheaper than DIY-ing: tinyurl.com/DBL-BOS-PPS
Great vid!
Thank you, Brian! I appreciate it!😎
Great design. I would like to build one of these but use it as a surf trainer (similar to the vertical skiergs) but i would be lying on a bench and the unit would be in front of me. How would you incorporate 2 ropes/pull handles to simulate surf paddling/ thank you
Wish the inside was matte black and the text white. 🤷♂️
Aren’t there already tons of options that fit that description?
Actually insane your timing on this review. I had narrowed my selection down to either of these and helped me choose ritfit. Unfortunately the M1 Pro with aluminum pulleys is a little too pricey - will it make a big difference if I go with standard pulley cables?
If you watch this video, I compare the M1 Version 1.0 and the 2.0. Link here: th-cam.com/video/XX20RmsN0OE/w-d-xo.html The Version 1.0 is also very smooth. You should still be goo to go with the Version 1.0
@ thanks for the quick response! I’ll check it out
When are you going to do a RitFit BUFFALO review/overview?
Hopefully soon... @ritfit.sports - the people want this to happen.😄
Thanks for the review, just went ahead and bought my ritfit M1, excited to get it in the mail.
Awesome! You will be very happy with it! 🤘🙏💪
If there only more people like you to review stuff on youtube lol. Got my like
Thank you so much, Guighee! I appreciate it! 🤘🙏💪
This is making the mikolo look baaaaaad
Based on what I showed you, how much would you pay for the Mikolo M4?
@DesignBuildLift assuming I’m Elon musks son and he passes away and I inherit everything I would pay $5k. Assuming I’m not I would say $500
$500 it is. 😄
@ how long do you honestly think a ritfit m1 2.0 would last?
Regular use? Multiple years, and then you would likely yearn to upgrade to a 3x3 rack.
Have you reviewed the M7? How does it compare to the M1 2.0
I have not. It looks nicer than the M4, and is only $150 more. The M7 might be way better than the M4 - but maybe only marginally better. A few things that concern me: The website description of the Smith component for the M4 and M7 have the exact same description: “Linear Bearings Smith Bar for seamless movement” … and as I demonstrated in this video, the M4 Smith sucks. Further the M7 has the Smith design where the hooks go into holes (instead of attaching to pegs). I prefer pegs. I saw a review recently on another budget smith (Brand = Snode?) where the hooks actually ripped the steel (with low weight). Not sure about this…but purely speculation on my part since I have never actually used the M7.
I have the M4, i actually chose Mikolo over the Ritfit because of the side storage, I have Olympic plates and not bumper so do not have the storage versus pully issue. This video would have been valuable when I bought the M4 on Prime Day for $850, I would likey have chosen the Ritfit had I seen the comparison back then. I replaced the nylon or plastic pullys with alloy on the main pully slots. I dislike the smith functionality the most and agree it is very rough. But the cable attachments and benching from the j-cups is fine, no complaints there. I wonder if Mikolo fixed some of the issues brought up in this video with the M7.

Do you know if eva foam is ok for bedrooms instead of home gyms? Does it need to go on underlay or can it go directly on timber floorboards?
I am unaware of any issues. Kids bedroom?
I've watched several reviews on this equipment and your review is the best so I appreciate it
Wow! Thank you so much! Very nice of you to share that with me! 🤘🙏💪
Need a comparison of the b52 major fitness
I would love to do a head to head comparison between those two products!
Mikolo M4 shakes noticeably, many design flaws.....
Yep. Trash.
So didn't your video already show no magnets? Chrome attracts magnets and stainless steel doesn't, so you're responsible for what you say.
This has a very shiny chrome layer on the outside (mirror like). SS is dull. I have never heard of anyone covering stainless steel with chrome. Also SS is more expensive, and would not align with all the other cheap decisions they made here. 99.999 % sure this is not stainless steel (but I can’t prove it).
The ergonomics are way off
Definitely has opportunities for improvement.
Great job!!! I really enjoy the video style and details you provide like measuring the smith bar height! But was this filmed before you posted your previous review of the M4? I mentioned in the comments on the M4 review video that they've updated the listing photos on AMZN/WLMRT to specifically call out the front uprights are aluminum and now it's been changed AGAIN to say stainless steel front uprights! Probably would've been good to mention this or show screenshots! I don't know if I can trust it at all lol but if it really is stainless steel they may have now one-upped the RitFit with better uprights. Who knows, we need someone to order it now with the updated listings and confirm 😂😂. I know they silently update things about it because your version has a few small differences compared to mine which I got in October-2023 when this revision of the M4 first came out. For example, my low row foot plate is easily detachable/removable and can be folded down flat on the ground too. Alternatively, you may have gotten a defective unit because my model doesn't have all the same issues you experienced. Did you contact Mikolo about some of the problems like the slop in the smith machine? They also may have just lowered the quality on some components like the smith machine compared to what came with mine which is unfortunate if true. I wouldn't completely disregard Mikolo due to your one bad experience though. They have some decent/unique options like their M7 with its leg press feature (including hand-activated safeties), better hole spacing, and seemingly better spotter arms that I don't think anything else in this price range has. Also, I don't think you mentioned (or I missed it!) the M4 comes with a leg holder attachment for doing pulldowns, this is super important for that exercise and something you'll have to buy separately with the RitFit to do that exercise properly. You can also attach this leg holder directly to the upright using the cable trolley side hole and this lets you get very close and achieve a vertical line of pull closer to a real dedicated pulldown machine which most other attachment options won't get you because they place the leg holders farther in front of the upright. The Mikolo also includes springs under the cable system plate-trolley which dampens the impact when it comes back down and can reduce wear/damage to the rack. Another thing the RitFit doesn't have. Also, the pull-up bar is higher on the Mikolo at 87" since it's the highest point of the rack which may be nice for anyone a little tall to not have to bend their legs as much. I also think the plate storage issue isn't a big deal for anyone that uses iron plates. Just store your 10lb ones up top, 25lbs in the middle, and 45lbs on the bottom and you end up with a better storage system than RitFit because like you said the plates are on the side and more convenient to access and load the cable system more easily. If you use bumper plates, don't get the M4 or just know you won't be able to use the top storage pin. I'm not recommending ANYONE get the M4 because of the weird deceptive upright situation, and overall, I do still agree with the conclusion that the RitFit M1 2.0 is the better entry-level all-in-one with smith right now but think this may have been a bit too harsh on the Mikolo.
Thank you for sharing your perspectives here. I appreciate it. So the fact that all the listings keep changing…Red Flag. And if their website contradicts what is said on Amazon/Walmart…Red Flag. And what they emailed me contradicts that…Red Flag…..The Bottom line: the product they sent me sucks .I have no interest in speculating which version of their inconsistent advertising might be true. All I can do is merely evaluate what they sent me. MAYBE they accidentally sent me an old version? Maybe. MAYBE they sent me the newest version? I don’t care to investigate how they screwed up (if they screwed up) - because this same issue could happen to any customer who PAID for this product. Rit Fit sent me a product - so here are my opinions on the product that I was sent. Mikolo sent me a product - so here are my opinions on the product I was sent. Everyone is going to have different opinions on things that I should have included or excluded in a review…but the fact is I shot a lot more footage - but edited a lot of it out to keep the video shorter and paced fairly well. No one wants a 40-minute review video. I said up front - I am not going to cover every detail - just the major items that I think are the main differentiators. But again - thank you for your perspectives. Much respect.
@@DesignBuildLift Their website and other store listings now all seem to be in sync and say the same thing about stainless steel uprights, just a heads up. I agree it's not instilling confidence that it's changed multiple times and like I said ultimately agree with the conclusion too that the RitFit M1 2.0 is better, but just felt some of the positive aspects about the Mikolo were downplayed or ignored. I know you can't cover all aspects, but even the ones that were mentioned didn't talk about the advantages of the Mikolo like the leg holder for pulldown (which is pretty important IMO) when listing all the included attachments and demonstrating that the plate storage is fine with iron plates in a pretty standard orientation of 10lb (top), 25lb (middle), 45lb (bottom) which is how many people would do it anyway. Btw, I'd love to watch a super in-depth 40-minute review video from you! 😁😁 I really like your review style and detailed coverage and if I were looking for a rack or comparing ones it'd be great to have a video of all the nitty gritty details to make a super well-informed decision. But I know I'm probably an exception because I'm obsessed with lifting and home gym equipment and a total fitness nerd 🤓. As you can likely tell by how long my comments are haha. Also, all companies mess up, big or small, I've seen the most expensive products still arrive damaged, defective, or broken. Doesn't mean the entire company is no good. When issues happen it seems like a great chance to test their customer support experience and also provide insight into that which I think would've made an even better review! Customer support is a major aspect for most products so instead of just assuming the product sucks I think it would've been great to check if you got a defective unit instead and do a little investigation and talk about the results of that in your videos, detailing your experience. Again, to be clear, I think this was still overall a great video, you're correct in choosing the RitFit as the overall better one, and really appreciate the time and effort put in! Total respect for you as well! Just providing some potential ideas to keep in mind for future coverage. Hopefully I'm not coming across as a heated fanboy that's angry or trying to flame you or something lol. Just trying to look at things as objectively as possible. If I could buy again right now, I'd pick the RitFit too.
Nice Head to Head Battle
This was more of skirmish than a battle 😂
Stainless Steel might be non magnetic depending on how its made and alloys used.
Wow, 14-gauge is like the bare safety minimum for a rack and Mikolo is even less than that and they are dishonest. A hard no.
Hard pass!
Those front uprights send me man. I do like mikolo lateral raise, leg extension attachment, and their cable tower is prettty good too and uses 12 gauge
Thank you for your support, Luke! I have not used any of those other Mikolo products- and pretty sure they will not offer to send me any of them at this point 🤣
@ Hahahahah bro, they should know better with this and good on you for calling them out!
Really like the ritift m1 2.0 and its $999, solid deal!
I totally agree, it’s a great deal.
I have had the Body Solid smith machine since the early 2000's, and I love it BUT it doesn't have the cable pulleys. It only has the low row pulley. Maybe I will eventually upgrade. I love your equipment reviews. Thank you so much! Danielle
Thank you, Danielle! I appreciate it. The Body solid equipment that I have used is rock solid, and has a fantastic warranty. Body solid doesn’t currently have an all-in-one rack (half rack, smith, and functional trainer) like the RitFit M1, but they do offer Smith Machine single-cable attachments. Link here: shrsl.com/4rmgi 🤘🙏💪
This is awesome. I assume you're using locknuts rather than screw collars so you can wrench up the compression on everything? Screw collars look cleaner, but they are probably difficult to apply compression with.
Yes, you are correct - locknuts for the win! I found that if it was not extremely tight….the plates (or rope) would “skip” at the top of a rep (where they would rotate independently of the threaded rod).
A needed comparison! I don't know where they come from, but the number of Mikolo fan boys on Reddit and other forums is crazy. If you're gonna be at this price point, RitFit is the best of the bunch for sure.
Thank you, Tim! Glad I can now get rid of the Mikolo out of my garage. This video was its final appearance on this channel. 🤣
@@DesignBuildLift Duuuuude, I know that feeling so well! And Kudos on not continuing to pimp out affiliate links for a bad company. I know how hard that is to do. It would be so easy to just roll the boulder downhill and take advantage of all the marketing. There's a few channels right now making a stupid amount of money recommending garbage every day. Really like your approach!
I had it down to two the ritfit and the major fitness I went with the ritfit m1 so far so good.
I have not tried the Major Fitness B52. However, if the functional trainer on the B2 is anything like their F22 functional trainer, the Ritfit M1 beats it, too. The F22 trolley had some degree of friction on the guide rods, and the M1 does not have that problem. You probably made the right choice!
1st!
1st to comment on your comment!
Damn this is very clever. Well done!
Thanks, Chad! I appreciate it! 🙏🤘💪
Does the leg roller pad adjust for short people (ie my wife is 5'1")?
Kind of. You can flip the pad above the arm - or under the arm. If you flip the the pad under the arm (which would be better for shorter people) it is 14.5" away from the edge of the seat.
@DesignBuildLift Thank you! Considering adding this to our home gym.
What a terrific design on their part. I had a pendulum leg extension/curl that I hooked up to a low cable, and that worked pretty well fixing the resistance curve, but this looks so much better. Great review.
Thank you so much, Ken! I appreciate your support.
Do you think you can use the pull up bar from the V1 with the V2? I’m looking at getting one for my basement but have 7 foot ceiling joists with 7’10” between my basement floor and upstairs floor. Really wanting to pull the trigger on one of these with the Black Friday sales going on!
Yes. I checked. The holes line up perfectly. 🤘🙏💪 i would purchase the 2.0 normally (Black Friday discount aoplied at checkout: bit.ly/RITFIT-DBL so that you lock in that sale price, and then email customer service for them to mail you a 1.0 pullup bar.
Great video!!! Quick question, how much workable space is required above the rack in order to actually install the Ares?? Like, with an 80 inch rack and an 83 inch ceiling, will I even be able to install it? Thanks again!!
Thank you! I just measured. The highest point of the pulley is 81.75". Yes you have enough clearance to set it up. Definitely get a straight barbell though...no multi grip pull up for you (unless you hang it upside down - which I would still not do unless you are very short). Please let me know if you have other questions as you navigate through this Ares Builder: bit.ly/46cSE2q
I love how honest you are
Thank you, Willcox! I appreciate it!
Wow.. i see a pulley. Could this be connected to my fuctional trainers ???
If you position the unit in front of your low cable pulley system I don’t see why you couldn’t connect with a soft loop tiedown strap on this unit’s weight horn.
I subbed for tip number one alone
Thank you Brother! I appreciate it! 🤘🙏💪
Genius! Thank you so much. Saved me from getting a dedicated leg press machine.
Fantastic! Glad to hear that!
Good critical review thanks
Glad it was helpful! I appreciate your support! 🙏🤘💪
Looking for a budget setup and I nearly pulled the trigger on this one with the black friday deal. Your review saved me from a mistake! Checked out RitFit and already night and day seeing an actual company with a US address and real customer service.
+@nukezat Nice! Glad I saved you from a regretful purchase! Check out the Ritfit review here: Ritfit M1 Multi-Functional Rack VERSION 2.0 Review th-cam.com/video/XX20RmsN0OE/w-d-xo.html
This or the body solid gleg?
The GLEG has a better overall construction….thicker steel, better quality padding, etc….and If the GLEG had better quality wheels and those wheels were moved from the front post to the rear (the end where your head goes) to make the unit easier to transport/maneuver, then I would say the GLEG. However, until that happens …I would go with the Ritfit option. By design the GLEG is supposed to be transported to/away from your cable machine, However, the wheels on the GLEG suck and it is hard to move it around. Therefore, since Ritfit option is stationary by design, I have only been using this Ritfit model - and stopped using the GLEG. The Ritfit is also considerably cheaper. I will likely be selling my GLEG.
You should sell these, I bet you would have a ton of orders.
Thank you! I am considering that. 🙏🤘💪
That’s a great review, all the details showed is what I look for when I’m looking for a new equipment.
Awesome, thank you! I really appreciate that!🤘🙏💪
Even better than the preacher pad is Rep's replacement GDH pads which only cost about $60 and are the exact shape that goes on GDH machines
Interesting. However, based upon the pictures it looks like those pads are two independent pads and not one contiguous pad - so they might separate when in use using this hack. DO you have this Rep GHD Pad product?: tinyurl.com/DesignBuildLift
Love you measuring the resistance!
Thank you, Brother! I appreciate your support! 🙏🤘💪
I'm going to make it and use it as a skyerg
Awesome! Please let me know how it turns out! 🙏🤘💪
I would like to know if the trolly/ carriage for the pulley system has the same linear bearings as the smith machine. I've emailed RITFIT with this question only to receive a reply asking for an order number. No one doing reviews on this piece of equipment mentions this. Can you please specify?
No it doesn’t. However, both are very smooth. I hope this helps you make your decision.
That's cool, finally a lying Leg extension machine which is what you actually want to train the rec fem. Similar to a sissy squat/reverse nordic but more easily progressible Looks like you can rotate the seat forward to lengthen the hams more. Does it work well for seated leg curl in that manner? Looks like the first machine that could actually do the correct lengthened leg extension and seated leg curl which would be incredible for the money
The seat does not adjust at all. You cannot do a seated leg curl. The leg roller is design to only move upward. It would need to pivot downward to do a seated leg curl.
@@DesignBuildLift thanks, by adjust I meant the pins that the seat back rotates on. It looks like it would be sufficient. I saw a Fargus machine that has a swivel leg curl stabilizer pad that moves out of the way for lying Leg Curl which would make this perfect. It was cheaper but did not have the cable cam system
I wanna see you compare this to the Lionscool model which overall looks way better but I want to see the catch for that $385 price
Looks like that might be better because the seat seems to move further forward . Both have a pulley housing where you could weld on an upper leg pad so you could do seated leg curls without having to fight to stay on the seat. Can't comment on feels but they both seem to recline far enough to do a lying Leg extension which is better than seated. Neither seem to have designed for the seated leg curl so they may have some issue trying to work with it but they seem like they both would
I would love to do a head-to-head comparison of this and the Lionscool option…Lionscool if you are reading this - Hit me up!
