    I’m the least handy person in the world and hate going to the hardware store, so I’m dreading it but this is by far the best belt squat solution I’ve come across, so thank you for this video!
    The depth, the fact that you don’t have to load it from the bottom, and the footprint is all better than any machine I can find! Awesome awesome stuff!

      I’m glad you like it! You can do it! It's really not that difficult. Please let me know how it turns out!🙏💪🤘

    Amazing! Definitely building this. Btw when I need casters I just a buy a harbor freight rolling cart for like $12 and get them off of there. The weight capacity of the cart is 1000# (I believe). You normally end up saving a couple bucks. They are as nice though.

      Awesome! The casters I bought were also from Harbor Freight. Got a good deal on them.

    New sub here. Most of my equipment is DIY. From ceiling mounted pull-ups, to my folding multi-position bench, everything is diy. Love the mobile base for plate loading.

    I would love to see an update using more weight. I guess I am worried about the sway of the plates between my legs.

      run some light bands across the loading pin at the top to damp the swaying

    Built over the weekend and hit my first leg day today....my legs are beat. The only downside is that all that i have are bumper plates. Im 6'2" and this feels very wide. I had to reduce my weight from a regular squat to compensate.

    • @DesignBuildLift
      @DesignBuildLift  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice! This is the reason why I do not like using 450mm plates (the size of your bumpers and the standard size of 45LB Iron Plates). I much prefer iron 35s for this, which allows for a narrower stance. Plenty of used iron 35s on Facebook Marketplace. Good luck, prhjister!!!! 🤘

    Great job! I'm on the fence as to whether to make these, or make taller step-up benches that could double for the belt squat. Gotta think about that one!

    I would like to see this 'system' with real weight. With 150kg hanging between leg, the rolling cart doest seems a practical idea

    • @DesignBuildLift
      @DesignBuildLift  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The cart can handle whatever weight you can squat as long as you use good wheels with the proper advertised weight capacity. I used casters that have a capacity of 250 lbs PER CASTER…. Since I used 4 Casters…the weight limit will exceed what is possible for 99.9% of us performing belt squats. So I think you should be good. 🤣Also remember- you don’t wheel the load around. The cart is stationary when the load is on the cart.

    • @mkeboyd

      I put 200lbs on it and used it no problem. It’s a lot heavier than regular belt squats. So I’ll eventually get to 300lbs and let you know. The only time I move the dolly is without weight but it holds the weight fine.

    Could you do a version with the buckets? Maybe add something inside to make it stronger? Just a thought as I saw you testing the squat height :)

    • @DesignBuildLift
      @DesignBuildLift  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I guess you could, but I think my design is more practical and more versatile than strengthening a plastic bucket.

    It is an interesting belt squat system design. However, how much weight on the loading pin can the rolling platform hold? It seems to me that the wheels on the rolling platform are the weakest part of the rolling platform. Can it hold a fully loaded loading pin with 45 pound Olympic weight plates?

    • @DesignBuildLift
      @DesignBuildLift  ปีที่แล้ว

      That comes down to the quality of the swivel caster wheels you choose of course . Buy good ones like I did! Definitely strong enough to hold any amount of weight you can throw at it!

    How about this scanario.. heavy load.. getting tired.. using the rolling handle, but put to much pressure on it, that it tilted and caused you to fall forward.

    • @DesignBuildLift
      @DesignBuildLift  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As I mentioned in great depth in the DesignBuildLift.com article, these dimensions are specifically for 35 lbs plates. The load’s center of gravity is always in the center of the cart as long as the plates touch the handles when racking the load -- making tipping over difficult. If you want to build for 45 lbs plates you can make it larger. Also while I appreciate your concern -- the same concern could be applied to everything in the gym-- What if you are benching, and your hand slips and you drop the barbell on your head. What if you are squatting and mis-rack the barbell and it crushes you. Etc.

      @@DesignBuildLift its not when loading or offloading.. it is when using the cart supportet as a handle, when its pushed infront of you, i am thinking could be abit of a hazard. I i dont understand the design, i apologise. The idea is pretty original.. i am thinking on getting to beams welded to each platform, that you can telescope larger beams into, and then a cross pipe for a grip. But i am using the landmine/barbell belt squat, so i guess its abit of a different scenario.

    • @DesignBuildLift
      @DesignBuildLift  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don’t have to hold onto the handle when performing the exercise. Just roll the cart out of the way (leaving it within reach), perform your reps, and then grab it again to roll it back to rack your weights.

      Thank you for subscribing! I really appreciate it. Yes - that would work too as long as you only want to use them for standing on. However, I also use these as utility blocks. Great for dumbbells and plates. The stall mats will take the impact and not scratch up your bar/plates/dumbbells. I plan on doing a follow up video soon- showcasing all these other uses soon! Thanks again!!!! 🤘🙏💪

    Would you personally recommend this system vs the rack platform you previously built in another video?

    • @DesignBuildLift
      @DesignBuildLift  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends how much space you have. If you barely have enough space for your rack As-is - then go with the “platform” - but if you have the space…definitely go with the blocks - So you don’t have to first adjust the rack’s safeties, move your bench out of the rack, etc….Plus I have found a ton more uses for these blocks which I will showcase in an upcoming video. 🤘

      @@DesignBuildLiftnice bro. This is an awesome idea especially for the footprint. I’m pretty psyched for this. I can’t fit a belt squat in my garage gym set up and I’ve maxed out the lever arm belt squat. I really liked the “freedom strap” adjustment for the lever arm though.

    I might use this method but with all home depot buckets 😅stack em when not in use. Add 3 14"x14" plywood top layers. Find a way to keep em stable. 🫤🤞🏾
