I like the “plug meta” as me and my friends call it. Everyone is fighting over the final cashbox later in the game and not waiting to swoop in last second. It’s more engaging

I really enjoyed that cash out article by Matt. Fantastic info. I haven't really been keeping up on the day to day of EE hunts, but I'm curious - since the last patch(ish) I've been seeing single scene images flash by after the "rules" screen when a match is loading. Is this part of an EE puzzle or just a visual bug? 😂

I've gotta personally disagree and say that the state that The Finals launched in was great - especially when compared to the sorry excuse of most AAA+ titles these days. But even then, the sad reality is that Nexon (or any other publisher really) would've still said refused the idea of marketing it as early access. That label kills hype, it scares investors, and not to mention severely reduces people spending real cash on the game during the whole early access period. Why buy cosmetics in a F2P game that isn't finished yet? It would've made the finances for Embark even more uncertain. And with that said, I've played enough (read: way too much) live services to say that Embark is still doing it right with experimenting the way they do. I'd rather have a game that moves and changes constantly, rather than gets stale and boring after 2 seasons. The mentioned design doc on cashout balancing shows that they highly prefer players' tactics and strategy around towards objectives to outnumber any kill-count; "(...)as it has always been our goal to make an objective-based shooter, where decisions and strategy matter just as much as your aim." If you don't like that type of game, then trying to make the devs balance gamemodes and objectives into that is a waste of everyone's time.

I agree that they basically had the game on early access until now, I actually thought the same around the start of season 3 But at the same time, I don't think it would've been right for them to release an early access or a beta with monetized cosmetics, I feel like people would not respect them as devs as much as they do if Embark did that

Defender bonus is almost meaningless now with how far a coin spawns you from the objective and the rest of your team. It rarely benefits to coin now. They need to fix coin spawns.

we are always so focused on what's beyond the walls......... But have we ever thought to ourselves that maybe there is nothing beyond them? how do we know if the walls we pass just leads us to another wall, a challenge that just leads into another challenge, an endless cycle of looking over the walls to just see another wall.

My biggest issue with the game was not addressed at all. Casual does not have any focus given to it at all. They're catering entirely to a competitive playstyle. I agreed with you on that the first year of the game should have been called "Early Access". But too little too late. I've lost any motivation to play or support The Finals. At the moment I have no intentions of ever touching it again. I'll keep watching content creators because they're the ones I want to support now, and not the game itself.
