Summoning is the act of unleashing Djinn(s) on standby from an adept for an elemental special attack. Summon Spamming is doing this repeatedly by each adept in one turn for major damage. Doing so will increase an adepts elemental power, depending on how powerful a summon is.
Golden Sun's most powerful summons require 4 Djinn of the same element: Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Mercury. Seeing as Golden Sun has a maximum of seven Djinn of each element, defeating Deadbeard will require summoning a weaker power, before unleashing a maximum power.
Deadbeard is a 'Superboss', and considered the most powerful and challenging in Golden Sun. While entirely optional, it is a decent challenge while only accessible near the end. Boasting the highest Attack, Defence, HP, PP, and Luck in Golden Sun, more than Golden Sun's final boss, it lives up to 'Superboss' status. Luckily, it can be overpowered...
It is possible to take down Deadbeard in two turns with summon rushing. However, RNG comes into play, plus the very possibility of being OHKO'd due to weakened stats. I wanted to do this without any downs, hence a somewhat conservative strategy. Just make sure your party is generally faster than Deadbeard with Running Shirts and Quick Boots equipped if necessary.
Venus Djinn Ground is used to reduce Deadbeard's number of attacked it can use, while Jupiter Djinn Luff seals away it's Psynergy for two turns. This is also important, as Deadbeard has several element Psynergy attacks that can do powerful damage if left unchecked. Mercury Djinn Spritz is really just optional to replenish party HP.
Venus and Mars Djinni Granite and Flash both put up a barrier. This is essential to lowering the damage Deadbeard can do to your party. Putting each Djinn on standby greatly lowers each party member's stats, that are gained with Djinn normally.
It is also worth remembering that each powerful summon does damage equal to a boss' huge HP. Meaning it will do significant damage regardless of elemental weakness. This can be enhanced further with Elemental boosting equipment such as Gaia Blade and Feathered Robe. Just be sure to seal it's Psynergy away with Luff, as it may use Break to reset your Elemental power, thus breaking the Summon Spam strategy.
