    Yakuza are Japanese gangs. The yakuza has their own blocks , so they do have gangs, but Yakuza are respected.. that is how they have order..

    What was it she said at 18:30 about "I was born in Japan but I love this culture", it sounds like a huge piece of my life I have missing, I've always felt like it was inappropriate to deviate from my culture, but this is making me feel otherwise, and I'd love to know if that's a term that represents that! Yani Modo, perhaps? I'd love to know, please comment if you know!

    • @beyondtheboulevard4185
      @beyondtheboulevard4185 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’s perfectly fine to embrace other cultures. I strongly encourage it actually. Ya ni modo is Spanish, something along the lines of “oh well. it is what it is.”

    The same people who hate on our japanese peeps(who btw have had good relations with mexico since the 1600s!) who dress this way, are the same people who cant even speak to our paisanos down south. Who cares what those sensitive weirdos say, they actually know the culture and are not disrespecting it, much love to them!

    Great interview. The writer/director of the film Allison Anders had a pretty traumatic upbringing. Her father abandoned the family when she was 4. She was gang raped at age 12. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 15 with her mom but had a mental breakdown and went to a psych ward. She was eventually placed in foster care. She was somehow able to get on her feet and earn a film degree from U.C.L.A. and shortly after graduating in 1986 she was living in Echo Park.
