I need to remind myself that taking it slow does not mean I have failed in any way. Being a full time artist is still so new to me. I feel so much pressure to create the most and best art because I no longer have a waitressing job to "distract" me. Just remembered one last point lol 7. Lastly, Try to match the clips with the beat of the song, for example in this video, after 2 drum rolls or in some parts one drum roll, u can change scenes or just changle the angle to the same scene or just zoom in or out to make it match with the song

Thank your sharing your darkroom experience. I did Photography at school in the 1970's and have embarked on building a darkroom in my garage in Adelaide, South Australia. I shoot 35mm and am also a camera collector. It's really good to see someone printing photos on paper again. So many people only view photographs on back-lit screens. And some photographers get their films developed at a lab, the scans are sent and they don't even pick up the film, go figure. I would also like to experiment with printing off a smartphone screen in the enlarger. Also glad to see that FB means fibre based and not Facebook. You are the Vivian Maier of the 21st century.

Hola.

Will do! I think that’s a great idea. I actually did that for an upcoming video which I will share in September. It’s a project that I can’t share more at the moment but I’m super excited about! The only reason I didn’t do it before was because I’m super bad about scanning my negatives 😅. I find it be tedious and boring but I agree it would be helpful to do so.

Great photo, great print. It has a lot of emotion and personality, Maggie comes through strong! Also, hi Vivianna's husband :) I'm more a fan of matt paper, recently I've been playing with glossy and semi-matt warmtone papers. Glossy is still too much I think but I'm digging the semi-matt, I like the deeper blacks I can get! For the warmtone, I'd suggest to try using warmtone developer and then lightly selenium-tone them (I do like 30s in 1+4 diluted Harman selenium toner). Too much selenium toning seems to make the warmtone prints purple but just a little takes away the greenish cast and I get really beautiful, warm blacks... Either way, thank you for making these long, patient darkroom printing videos, they're really enjoyable and I think they ought to show new film photographers the beauty of the process...

Wow! You are a wonderful human and an inspiring person. I can resonate with so many things you mentioned in this video: I have been slowly accumulating darkroom and processing equipment (via thrifting/good deals) for just under 2 years now, but I kind of do+don't have a proper space to use them all. (No ventilation for trays but it IS dark and mostly cool). Also I have been (and still) am a waiter and like you I tend to prefer staying back from this complicated, confusing and quite frankly overwhelming world most of the time. Often going to work is my 'social peak' for the week; but I want to share my passion more also. It is not yet time for me to start a channel (workflow incomplete), but I am always considering and moving towards. I am so so happy that there are a decent number of people out there WHO ARE interested in the FULL film practice. [I learned B&W in college 10yrs ago (are we twins?) and recently learned that they shut and removed the facilities there; kind of insane considering the resurgence amongst the "younger ones" in recent years]. My goal and desire is to connect and share my love of this art/medium with as many people as possible. You are already doing this in such a wonderful way!! NAMASTE AND GRACIAS from "the top of the continent". 🍁 📸🎞💖🙌🙏 ✌😎🤘 -JC

Hola, Vivianna Magdalena. Saludos s Luis. DIOS los siga bendiciendo!

Agreeing with the other commenters, your darkroom is amazing! I'm lucky to have some of the things in the video! I love my Jobo Mistral film drying cabinets... For drying prints, I built a similar print drying rack myself. One thing I'd mention that I really came to love is my Heiland Electronic enlarger timer / f-stop analyzer gadget that plugs into their LED light source (which replaced the dying Beseler 45S color head for my Beseler 45MXT enlarger). The enlarger timer replaces a normal timer, but it comes with a light meter that you can use to measure the light projected by your enlarger, and a computer thing with a small display and a few buttons. You set your paper + film type and it calculates the exposure / contrast grade you need for a basic print. It works pretty well and I can make do with a lot less test strips now (a godsend when I want to make a quick print after work). You can set your contrast and time using the gizmo, but you can adjust your printing / burning times in f stops rather than seconds, which is really convenient... It's really smart and sometimes I think it's cheating, but I can get to a first print a lot quicker and it leaves more time to work on perfecting the print or dodging+burning <_<

Maybe you can order chemistry with Fotoimpex or Nordfoto. I sometimes make my chemistry myself: Caffenol, Parodinal, Wineol with different ingredients. I have made a Caffenol paper developer recipe that's in fact better than commercial developer. Making a clip test before every development and fixing is a good way to test if it is still working. For fixing double or triple (T-Grain) clearing time.

TH-cam suggested this video. Great work! I helped my father in the darkroom when I was little and when I was 11 he gifted me a camera. Since I moved to Germany with 30 I started to take darkroom courses and I am still at BW film photography. For getting your chemicals to temperature they use a sous-vide here, which I think is very practical.

Thank you! 🌸 I love how you were introduced to film photography at such a young age and by a loved one. That must be such a special memory. Thank you for sharing. And I’ve never heard of a sound-vide. I’ll look into it 🙂.

@@filmphotovm Thank you so much! Yes those are special memories. Off course it was during the analogue days, as I am now 52. But I am very happy to have kept on shooting mostly BW on film. So much knowledge was lost in 15-20 years. For the sous-vide stick you can search the internet. They're originally for cooking and they keep the temperature and swirl the water/chemicals. Do you know Pictorial Planet here on TH-cam?

Great! I really love your darkroom! I would like to have the same space… may one day. Have you build the sink yourself?

Thanks! I really love it. I wish you all the best with your future darkroom. I had my sink made. I wish I could have done it myself but I’m not talented in that way 😅.
