Thanks for your video showing an alternative process. The darkroom is a place and I spent over 40 years doing my large format photography. It was a special and magical space where I was insulated from the outside world and could work uninterrupted. Sadly that is not the case with the digital world of noise. Happy to see you are living your combined Mexican culture and America dreams to be able to pursue your art. Mexico has so much to offer an active artist, plus the food and the people are great.
Hola Viviana!
a suggestion, would a "laminator" work?, as some can do the rollers cold, aka without the heaters on, so pressing the ink onto the paper, like an offset press; or better yet a book press, so you can vary the pressure exerted, as you say you do it to vary the transfer on different parts.
thank you for the interesting video and sharing so much about your life. I do quite a bit of Alt process, I would love to see you do more videos on the topic :-) its especially fun to see another woman in the darkroom and doing altpro.
lovinggg your journey! creating art fulltime is a dream but I can only imagine the struggle aswell, Can't wait to see more. I would use alternative process in highschool & it was such a fun way to share photography :D
Very interesting process you shared and that’s the amazing part of photography that the end result in whatever process attempted makes it fun, interesting and unique. Thanks for sharing your story too, it’s always great to know the background and journey of an artists. We all have a story and through connections with social media we are able to share it like you just did, once again thanks and I’ll stay tuned for your next one😊
Hiii! I just wanted to say that I found your channel a few days ago and have watched all of your English videos. This is one of my favorite channels by far! So far I have been inspired to pick up my first medium format camera as well as finally finish building my darkroom! Keep it up, you're awesome!!!
Just found your great video, and am now adding this technique to my repertoire. Most of the alt-printing I have done so far has been the traditional monochrome techniques. I do have a question. I am seeing that some of the dried hand sanitizer is left behind on the paper especially in the area not covered by the transfer. Is there an effective way to clean this off? Thanks again for this channel! 😊
yes, you are a 'negative person', only in that you possess a darkroom, and print film; negative, in this context being defined by the form of an image, not thinking in a pessimistic way ;-) and we all love you for it, and for your generous sharing of your journey.
Alternate processes are cool and a great distraction from digital photography. I’m sure you know this already but there is a thing called ‘transfer medium’ a whitish cream that hobby shops sell. This cream allows you to transfer images onto different media, paper, ceramic, etc. If you think about it, photography started with what we might call alternate processes; albumin, cyanotype, salt print, tintype. Your house looks cool.
Thanks! I have tried it. But I think I should give it another try. I remember a class mate let me use some of hers and it was fun yet challenging. I tried transferring on pieces of wood, fabric and stone. I love alternative process photography! We made tintypes during my alternative process photography course and it was amazing!
V, with this process is it similar to what happens in polaroid PN stock, aka the print from the negative?, and if you wanted to do 'digital negatives' to print wet, is this how you do it, but instead of scanning and going neg->positive, you go the other way, and print with the 'film' in the negative carrier.
This is soo amazingly inspiring. Am going to try this myself. And just a thought, if we cool the sanitizer down with a refrigerator, it won't evaporate that rapidly, atleast theoretically. Then won't it will be must easier to do the process ? Atleast you don't need to do it in a hurry.😅 Just try if you can and let us know
Thats an awesome idea! I have noticed that the temperature does affect the process but I never thought of cooling it. I ran out of ink 😅, but once I get more I’ll give it a try. I hope you like this project. Not sure if you had a chance yet to give it a try.
¡Muchas gracias! Me alegra mucho ❤. Wow, es increíble todo lo que investigaste sobre los químicos. Espero un día entenderle tanto como tu. Yo aún batallo mucho 🥲. Seguido cometo errores, pero si voy mejorando. Poco a poco ☺️. Muchas gracias por compartir esto conmigo.
Hi! How long are you leaving the transfer film on the watercolor paper before pulling it off? I do no more than 5 minutes. Maybe you're leaving it on for too long? Thats all I can think of at the moment. But I'll think of other possibilities. Let me know! :)

I didn't know this technique before, thx for the Video :)
You’re welcome! I’m glad you liked it.

That makes me so happy 🥹! Truly does. This is why I make content. Thank you ❤️.
Thank you for the video.
Thank you! I’m super happy to share it ❤.
Whoa, awesome. I'm familiar with phototransfer to wood with prints from the laserprinter and photopotch. That process seems interesting as well.
It is! 😊
Thank you so much for the video!
Glad it was helpful! ☺️
This is awesome! Tysm for doing this for us ❤️
I’m super happy to do so! Thank you ❤.

Can this process be used on fabric?

Is that an inkjet printer???
Yes. But I don’t recommend this brand though. I struggle a lot with it for this specific art project.

So trying this the transfer pulls up some of the watercolor paper. Any suggestions?
