  • Hi! Thanks for visiting the channel!
In this video, I am making some older models again. THe Airfix Scammell Tank Transport is a mold from 1961 in a Vintage new release, the Fujimi is from 1973. They are complemented with figures from Italeri. The vehicles are in 1/76, the figures are slightly bigger in 1/72, but maybe they recruited only giants!

The Scammell has to be one of my favorite Tank transporters! I enjoyed the build, well done!

Awesome video!! Brought back memories of growing up in 1970s. I would go and buy a bunch of tanks in this scale or 1:72 scale; build them; then go out in my yard and have battles with them. I would shoot a BB Gun at them and, after enough damage, set them on fire!! Seemed like the plastic of the 1970s burned easier then. Was fun back in them days.

Hi James! Shooting at them with BB guns sounds fun, but the smaller tanks would be quite hard to hit i assume!

The Valentine turned out far better than I expected. I put this down to your skill rather than kit itself. I vaguely remember the Scammell kit from the 1970s but as a child if it didn't have a big gun I wasn't interested. Looks like I missed out there. Thanks again for sharing.

Hi Mark! Thanks very much, i think the kit for the Valentine was fun to make, very quick. The scammel always sparked my interest because of his brutal look for "just" being a truck. Hope you have enjoyed the video!

Peter awesome build and video. I always like your dioramas, there awesome. For a small scale you sure put a lot of details into it. I thing I noticed about your dioramas is that you put wildlife in your dioramas. I think thats so cool. Again excellent work and video. Hi Chris! Thanks! I dont have many animals left, and i forgot where i bought them, but they make for a fun addition to a diorama, in my opinion! Have you got your vaccacine already? Hope you are healthy!

@@funinscale2892 hello Peter, I received my first vaccination and will receive the second dose on the 19th of May. I have not touched the Hikawa Maru on almost 3 weeks. Been really depressed lately. Its hard for me to stay focused on anything for more than 30 minutes at a time. Hard to sleep also. This happens to me from time to time, just have to let it run it's course. It does cheer me up when you put up a new video, thank you so much, you my not realized how much I look forward to a new video and build. Your a great guy and your awesome at building models. Have you got your vaccination yet? Hope all is well with you and your family. Stay safe and healthy my friend. Have a great weekend. 👍👍🇦🇹🤝🇺🇸

@@chrisC052 Sorry to hear chris! Did you have any side effects of the vaccine, could it be because of that? But its great you got yours, now its a little safer out there, im sure! I havent got a vaccine yet, probably wont be in the near future as most older people over 50 are still prioritised here in austria. Mental health is such a huge issue today, sadly, there is still lots of shame included in talking about it and everything. Hope you get better soon! I am super happy that my videos can help you, at least a little bit! Have a nice start into the week!

@@funinscale2892 hey Peter, feeling a little better today. Depression is something I have been dealing with for so time now. It seemed to get worse after I retired from the Navy. The only side affect I felt from the vaccination was a sore arm, it was my fault because I tensed up when i receive the shot. By the next day it was okay. Thank you for taking the time to write back that means a lot to me. Have a great week and stay safe and healthy my friend. Hope you get your vaccination soon. 👍👍🇦🇹🤝🇺🇸

I forgot another thing that I think will help is to get back into church. There is a Lutheran church not that far from my home that I was looking into. It sure can't hurt. Talk to you soon.

Hi Jerry! Thanks, glad you like it! Dioramas are always fun to make but they are much less viewed on my channel than ships, sadly. The white star was a universal marking from D-Day on, on most allied ground vehicles in the European Theater, as far as i know. I am just not sure right now if it was only used universally in D-Day and directly the following days or until VE day

I'm dang near 48 and I've never heard of 1\76 scale before. Tdhey from some foreign land,or just a weird scale?
It almost don't look like styrene! It looks like that old real slick brittle crap that was used by some smaller companies in the early 80s. Regular testors orange tube glue would melt it together, but these modern thin solvent glues won't touch it!! I tried to build a really old funny car model, and the Tamya extra thin wouldn't stick it together. Was out of tube glue, and I put it up. When got some tube glue, and pulled it black out,the solvent had just warped the hell out of the really thin round frame parts! Just wiped it out. But it hadn't melted any of it!! Weird plastic.
Ohh yeah...your truck driver's gonna wipe that signm out!!!! As a professional truck driver...just saying.

Hi Tom! I think 1/76 was a domain of Airfix and some Japanese manufacturers, it was established earlier than 1/72, but today, more manufacturers produce in 1/72. The airfix one is a molding form from 1961, but was recently newly manufactured with modern plastic, so it is mostly like other modern kits, nice to glue and work with, the fujimi one was really that old from 1973, but it still was nice to handle, i had no problems of dissolving parts :)
I wanted to make it look like the guys around the truck want to alert the driver that there is the shield (one of them would have a grenade in his hand, but it also looks like he wants to get the attention of the driver), but at this point, the easiest would be to just kill the shield and put it up again later :D

Tom, as a plastics engineer, the polystyrene used in the 50's 60's and 70's and even to an extent the 80's had a lower melt flow index (MFI) and tend to be a lot harder. I have never had an issue with the Tamiya liquid cements when gluing these plastics, you just need to let them have more time to work. Modern polystyrenes have a much higher MFI and tend to be a lot softer, which is why the glues work a lot faster.

@@gavingiles5079 Well thank you. That would explain why ,after I wiped it off and put the model away, the parts warped. I'm glad someone could explain it to me,as I've got a couple more vintage models that I'm planning on building.
Thanks very much. Take care stay healthy.
