at 76, I feel like Frick'n Superman!
Since 2011 I have slowly turned my health around, but nothing I tried could get me out of the "Obese weight range" because I believed the "expert" advice " Eat Low Fat, Low Calorie foods, avoid Saturated Fat, Eggs and Salt... do lots of Cardio"
50 very active years spent on miserable starvation diets and never could stay below 235 lbs (107kg) for more than a month.
Now the weight simply melts off at a steady pace and my metabolic system is repairing.
I love the food I eat, love the lifestyle and I am always satisfied... so much so that I never snack anymore. Zero temptations. Life is much easier now.
As I near my 77th birthday, I honestly feel like Frick'n Superman!
Life has always been awesome... but this is a game changer!
I am very stoked for what comes next!
I may start a new chapter on my channel, or a new channel to share my experiences and thoughts about this gigantic change in everything I understood to be true about achieving good health. Please comment if that is something that you would like to see.
Please like and share....

Awesome SUP surf session yesterday! It was windy and wild.... with some really lined up shoulders! Almost hypothermic after 2 hours in relative cold with howling offshore winds... I was at my limit for minimal wetsuit. My core temp had dropped to a point where even catching my last wave made me happy! When I got my hair all soaped up in my shower.... the water went ice cold. SUP foot position for all conditions - Modified Surf Stance
มุมมอง 5K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a good look at the stance I use on all my SUPs in surf or flatwater. The modified surf stance is what I find most stable and comfortable in all conditions because it offers frontto back stability as well as side to side. It also requires the least amount of "correction" when I get bobbled by backwash or chop. Many prefer the "wide parallel stance" but I find this works best for me. Plea...

What if anything do you ride during those strong FL onshore days?
Very nice Rick.u'r my only "influencer" since i start about 3 years ago. I 'll try to go florida this year (2025)in May. What are the best places to go? Keep strong💪💪💪
Thanks Roger, I appreciate that! Cocoa Beach area is about as good as it gets down here. Lots of breaks that you can catch empty in early morning! I have surfed the entire are and found people to be generally friendly and accepting
@rickweeks thanks fpr the ttip. I hoje some day we sup together,i'm from portugal * parede beach My daugrhers wont to go to florida in holidays so I must have to choose a place with waves.😁😁thank you
Ahhhh, The Wall, great place with an awesome Crew! I had my best sessions in Portugal with my friends there! I lived in Sagres, but I’d run up to the Wall to hide from the North wind! Your daughters will love Cocoa….. funky little surf town with lots to do! Email me when you are coming! supthecreek@gmail.com
Good for you, cutting down the beer has helped me. In the UK they're doing alcohol free beers with mood enhancing botanicals and they seem to work. You get the buzz of a good cup of tea which tastes like decent beer! It's getting me through dry Jan easily. What price on health eh, hopefully be surfing as long as you? Look up impossibrew if interested?
I got lucky as a kid and always hated beer! I do enjoy the occasional vodka and Diet Coke but if I have one every two months, that would be a lot!
Hey Rick, great job with the videos. Carnivore diet is the way to go, it really is life changing. Moving back to Daytona area in a few months and looking forward to SUP surfing again. Your videos have me motivated to get back out there.
Awesome Steve! Easy lifestyle for optimal health and weight management.... and effortless! I'm an hour south of Daytona in the Cocoa Area if you ever want to share a session, let me know in a reply to a video!
Rick good for you bud . I am coming up to 60 soon and I am trying my best to shead the pounds off too for the 1st time in my life I have gone meat and veg only no carbs . I am hoping this will help me drop a few board sizes . Thanks Rick keep on pushing 🤙🏽
Good start Hearty.... if you never eat and other carb again, then you are on a wining path!
Great video and wise words, Rick. “Don’t give into the fear and caution.” The secret to youth.
Yuppers, i Totally get the subtle message!
Agree with others - Inspirational! Thanks!
If you are a kook Surfer and loving life, then you are in the right place!
Thanks for the continued stoke and inspiration Rick!
Thanks Joe... I greatly appreciated your support!
Everything will kill you - pick something fun!
exactly!!!! 😊
Looking good, dude and congratulations -- love the "don't give in to the fears and cautions" mentality
Hi Steve! Super Stoked That you found missing tech to let you get some add back some details
Hell yeah, man. Too much cardio can produce excess stress hormones such as cortisol!! So it can actually make you fatter!
Thanks Dora It is quite amazing what we have believed since the 60's and they never seem to update recommondations as new studies come out!
95% of North Americans do not have to worry about too much cardio. Most aren't getting nearly enough.
Great video Rick, keep it up. Very inspirational for all us suppers!
Thank You Yama, this is much appreciated!
Félicitations !!❤❤ from France
Merci Layla !
Get Some! Good Stuff! Keep on posting videos and chasing the STOKE!
Thanks Adam, I will keep chasing and sharing the stoke!!!
It's interesting. We're both playing around with new board sizes but are actually coming at it from different ends. You lost weight, and I gained weight! Need to find our new volume norms. I was lucky enough to go to Dana Point to talk with Dave Boehne about it. I took some inspiration from you and made a video about it. th-cam.com/video/unLyPwey5hM/w-d-xo.html
Great video Derek, you have editing skills my friend! I had already watched your Maui vid. Odd that I never surfed Chuns... in 1978 if I wasn't at Sunset, I would hit Jocko's or Leftovers cuz they were never crowded in those days. Dave's a great guy, I met him years ago at the Carolina Pro Am, where I was the oldest contestant. (Got 4th in Open Mens) Good luck with your custom, Dave knows what he is doing! I rode a 9' Wide Speed last summer and found it to be a fun board. ha ha, board sizes.... Some days I will ride a 14' Surf Sup then an 8'3 Tomo style design I switch boards a lot, so I don't usually have a learning curve when I swap boards.... I love them ALL!
I listened to two locals debate if sending me to Leftovers was a good idea. In the end, they decided no, better to send me to Chun's for paddle surfing.
Thanks Rick, I needed that!
Stoked that you enjoyed it Popeye!
The Creek you steered me to just arrived from Thailand. I took it out this morning in head high. It goes! And it looks good doing it too. Beautiful board.
Stoked Mark, thanks for the update! Have a blast on it and please let me know what your thoughts are after you get onto some of the more distant points in some size.
Epic video! Never knew you were THAT heavy. Amazing weight lose you've achieved. You're a full inspiration to keep at it, Rick! Creek on!
Thanks Cookieman! 50 years of failed dieting.... who knew it could be this easy!
rick what is the stuff u are eating like a typical breakfast lunch and dinner
I eat 2 meals a day 9am - Chuck Eye Steak & eggs or ground beef and eggs - Pasture Raised 3pm - any one of these: Chuck Eye, Burger, Salmon, Cod, Chicken thighs, shrimp.... and eggs 3 days a week I eat a tin of wild caught sardines packed in water Redman's Real Salt (absolute BEST!) Only drink Spring water My fridge is basically empty, Freezer is empty, don't need a pantry. No Canned, bagged or boxed food Shopping is quick and cheap since I don't need all the millions of organic veggies and supplements I have been a total food (carb) addict all of my life Now, I love what I eat, eat plenty to be satisfied and never even think about food after 3:30 pm It's like I have been released from a food prison, where my body forced me to eat endless junk, because I wasn't giving it what it required to be healthy. Once you give it the necessary things to run the body, your brain releases you from your addictions to Carbs and sugar. I have no cravings and the weight just slowly melts off of my once large body 😊
@@rickweeks how do you cook your eggs and what size steak I am a big dude been SUPPING for 8 years now but still big boy brah How much ground beef in the morning one pound th-cam.com/video/7JVE4so8Jqc/w-d-xo.html
Definitely SUPER RICK MAN ;-) Another lovely and inspirational video. I'm always looking forward when i click on suscriptions to see the new one coming up. Keep it rolling Rick and thank you !!!!
Much appreciated SUP art! Thanks for being a subscriber, your support matters!

The challenge is remaining a real surfer in your 70's, not a supper. Keeping the shoulder tendons strong ,and the fast-twitch muscles firing to pop up.
Please let me know when you have earned respect in OH Pipe and maxed out Sunset with compliments from Peter Cole. I ride what I love... you ride what you chose, but you have not earned the right to lecture me on what REAL surfer is.
@@rickweeks I don't 'lecture' anyone on anything. At 72 and still charging on a 7'2'', I've 'earned' the right to say anything I want to. Dropping in , especially dropping in late, are the most difficult and the funnest part of surfing. Sweeping in with an oar with a 30 yard head start is fine and dandy, but it's not surfing. It's stand up paddling.
@@jaydickey1049 ok... you came to aa SUP video, voiced your hate.... I hope you fell better 😊
@@jaydickey1049 You are totally lecturing this guy, especially claiming to be a 'real' surfer. Just be stoked this guy is still out there enjoying the waves when most 76 year olds are not - anytime you ride a wave, on anything, including your body, it's surfing.
@@rickweeks Hate? What's hateful about my comments? Gotta admit though, not to fond of entitled suppers who catch every wave because they can.
Obrigado! Sr . Rick! Você inspira muitas pessoas!!! 🇧🇷
Obrigado hyub, Eu aprecio muito!
Thanks Rick,i just turned 60 and have been paddleboarding for 5 years it saved my life
Awesome isn't it Casey??? Yewwwwwww, stay stoked!

Qué alegría de verte nuevamente viejo loco!!! Un ejemplo para muchos, nunca bajar los brazos🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
¡Gracias Leonardo, eres muy amable! ¡Gracias por ver el vídeo!
Great! I hope that become older like you.
Thanks Tora.... never fear, you will be ripping into a long future!!!
That picture of you at 60. We need a bigger SUP 😂. I’m 55 and living inland is a bummer and COVID was a struggle for me as I ate and drank too much. Only good thing that came out of that was i fell in love with skateboarding again and been doing that ever since. Only problem is I come off my board it hurts a bit more than when you come off. You’re a inspiration for a lot of people Rick and always look forward to your videos
I hear that Marcel.... you are a brave man! Pavement is not as forgiving as water. If I had to run out of a skateboarding mishap, my knee would probably snap off. You have plenty of time to get strong and chase all of your dream!
Skating at 55!?! That is hardcore! I had to give that up 17 because of how punishing it was!
Yew!
Thanks Try harder, your name says it all.... keep the expectations high and put the effort in!
Well done . Great video. Inspiring to us all.
Thanks Jack, very glad you appreciated the video!!
Lookin’ good Rick. I’m following your plan, it’s working!
Hi Andy, thanks my friend.... glad you are having fun with it!! See you in a few months 😊
Where are these waves?
Hi Gordon, mostly Cape Cod, Massachusetts
👏👏👏👏💪💪
Thank You Mariano!
Nice video Rick !
Hi Todd, thank you! I hope life is treating you well my friend!
Looking good, Rick and congrats on the new you! SUP forever, baby. I am 61 and have been SUP surfing for 15 years now. Occasionally I bust out my old longboard and go for a prone surf, but I’d rather be on my SUP any day!
Thank You Tommy, I appreciate that! SUP surfing is just amazing isn't it? So glad we found this life changing passion after 50 years of being super stoked on regular surfing!
Turning 47 now, and want to keep it up with surfing, too, so taking you as an example mate. You rock!
Thank you Roland, I appreciate that! You have a long surf life in front of you.... we are blessed to have this passion as we age!!!
I'm 51. Back surgeries knocked me off prone and turned me to SUP in 2014. I was mostly surfing longboards at the time because shortboarding was getting pretty challenging. But I was never a good longboarder and liked the feeling of a shortboard more. Once I started riding 7'6 SUPs, I really found I was getting a lot of that shortboard feeling back. Not exactly, but a lot of similar stoke. I just love it.
It's been said before, and will be said many times in the future, you are simply inspirational Rick. Keep it up and keep the films coming. A nudge for all of us to do better. 9:53 Cheers, Stuart
Thank you Stuart, very kind of you! I am stoked if the videos inspire and give you a desire to expect more going forward! Many videos planned, so I will increase the pace getting them posted
Now that you are in the 180s (which is amazing), are you grabbing the 8'5 and even the 8'2 Ghost when conditions are clean???
Absolutely! I surf the 8'8 when Florida allows And I have surfed the 8'5 without issue on my way through Jacksonville, FL when buddy let me jump on his 1 hour old 8'5 Ghost! I am definately getting an 8'5.... we'll see if an 8'2 is reasonable to consider down the road!
@@rickweeksI would love to see a video about surfing the 8'2. Hearing you talk about the challenge. What you like about it. Is it worth it. You're so attuned to your gear--it'd be pretty informative.
@@derekhemmes it will be a while... there isn't an 8'2 in the US yet. Next summer will be the earliest that could happen. I will have an 8'5 on the next container I am actually very interested to see what a very short SUP would be like.... not sure if it's all about weight and volume at that point.... The shortness has to become more of a challenge, even if it floats my weigh easily. should be interesting 😊
@ I've really found that as long as the volume is "enough", it's the width that is far more important than the length. I've found that boards with similar widths & volume don't feel much different at different lengths (ie, 8'2 x 28, 100 L vs 7'6 x 28, 100 L). But it'll be really interesting to hear your take on the 8'10 vs 8'8 vs 8'5 vs 8'2. The widths of the 8'2 & 8'5 Ghost aren't too different--that'll make it interesting.
@@derekhemmes Thanks for that info! During the short time I spent on the 8'5, I definitely felt a noticeable difference towards a more "shortboard" response. I am excited to get back to Cape Cod and ride an 8'5 in some good waves to see what i can do on it! Maybe an 8'2 as well 😊
Inspirational Rick! Keep living your best life🤙
Thanks Dave... Hopefully we'll meet up again on my way north!
You are right, go for living life.👌🤟
Yes sir.... we get one shot at this gift of life and it should be cherished and utilized!
wow ... that's impressive on the health / weight improvement .. congratulations !
Thanks Rayo.... what seemed out of reach in my previous matrix, is simply natural once I became awaare of how I was being manipulated for 50 years. I don't try, I don't work at it.... I really don't exercise at all, I never did. Of course I surf and now walk the beach one hour per day, but I never work out in any form. I eat till satisfaction at 9am and 3pm, love what I eat and never have cravings or feel any hunger after my 3pm meal. The weight just steadily drops. Quite amazing actually 😊
Good onya Ricky.
Thanks Dave!
Hi Rick, another hard day at the office. I'm still trying to catch you up at 75 went for 85kg to 72kg Supping and Windsurfing. Still doing loops on my windsurfing, I am the oldest man in the UK to do this 😊
Yewwwwwwww! That's awesome Dale....keep up the good loop my friend! ➰ Hopefully you won't catch me too soon.... that would require some help from me 🤣
Well done Rick.I turned 75 today still Supping. Prefer sudden flameout as fit man ,rather then slow flameout in poor health.Greetings from Australia.
Love it Joe.... exactly! Keep living Life and going forward 😊
Hey Rick, very glad to hear that you found carnivore. I’m 64 and have been doing it 4 years. 180cm and 80kg consistent. No meds and no aches and pains, provided, I stay on it. If I cheat (which I do) I will be quickly reminded by my body to get back on it. ps.. I still have my 8.10 Ghost and can’t wait to get back to the Sunshine Coast this year to use it more. I wish you all the very best for 2025 and absolutely do stay on carnivore. You will never look back and will be surfing for a lot more years.
Thanks Mark... great to hear from you! I will never stray from a Wider Carnivore lifestyle... I am totally satisfied, love everything I eat and get never ending amazing results! Every other failed "healthy eating" plan has failed miserably and I was never satisfied by the food. When you are in FL, please let me know... we can grab a Ghost session! My email is on the video
You're very inspiring in you're surf. Let me tell you what happened to me on Carnivore. I did 3 momths strictly carnivor . Lost 40lbs. Felt great. Then I added Peanuts and cashews and yougurt and cheese.. I kept the 40 lbs off for 15 months but I just developed divertiticulitis. I am going to need surgery possibly to remove my colon. It's been a miserable 6 months but I switched to keto diet and the fiber seems to really help. Now I pray I don't have another attack and I can avoid surgery. I blame it on carnivor and possibly Peanuts together with out enough fiber. The fiber is helping me now.
Thanks for your input Kevin.... I am always open to peoples experience. Too bad that you suffered from all that misery. I hope you find success down the road!
Ricky looking good Lets go to Costa Jimmy
Hey Jimmy, thanks! I am looking at getting a place in that general area, but not CR.... some of my friends have places down there. We need to get together more this summer dude!
Please do your thing on this channel, it's inspiring to watch you progress. You're doing amazing things!
Thanks Eddie! I will.... the terrible dietary guidelines that the US promotes are SO far off the mark. More designed to keep up perpetually sick. The word needs to get out by any means possible. On a more fun note: I watched Eddie win the Duke from my treehouse across the Kam Hyw..... so amazing to be there for that moment!
inspiring rick !!
Thanks Adam.. I appreciate your support!
Looking good Bro..............but use the handlebars.
😊Thanks SoCO! nahhh.... I probably ride no hand 80% of the time. My back and wrists appreciate that, and I am good at it. Actually, it's probably a moot point now.... I have discovered that walking is much more effective for my progress than riding ever was. I can ride in dirt for hours, (I use the bars for that!) but one day, I went for a 1 mile walk on a flat road and it almost did me in! I had lost the ability to walk any real distance 😨 So I began walking the beach at dawn. Now I do an hour every day and my body is much better from it, so the bike is just for the occasional diversion.
