Love your videos, thanks for sharing. 13oC and no wettie, takes me back to the 1970s and winter surfing off Victoria's Surf Coast (Australia). But now at 63, no can do, that's tough. Keep on paddling!
Thanks Anthony, I much appreciate your feedback! That's why I can tolerate the cold.... I grew up surfing in the early 60's in New England, so I just accepted that surfing cold temp comes with a bit of discomfort and I'd still rather forgo the wetsuit for a margin of performance. As I age, the wetsuit takes more out of me, so I avoid it whenever possible!
Rick, for most of us, the air and water temps you displayed coupled with the wind speed spell full suit!! Ice Cream headaches aside, great surfing displaying your agility on the Ghost in some really extended rides. Good to see you out there.
Thanks John, super stoked with my Ghosts! Yours is going to be heading your way soon! I'd love some feedback after you have some time on it! Yewwwwwwwwww!
Hi John, thanks for watching! I got blown off the top of many waves as I was dropping in.... but when you could get over the ledge, it was amazing! You are heading into summer and I am heading to Florida!!! 😊🏖
Thanks Eileen! I was watching you earlier in this same session as I waited for the tide to turn.... you have really evolved in your SUP surfing. It is really noticeable!
@@eileenvarner2338 Your making me blush girl! You go hard and always have! Matt has been getting some great waves on the bigger days in the pat month and looking good! We have a great SUP crew of really good people and good watermen!
Thanks Dan! I am making my way down the US East Coast next week if you are anywhere along the way. I'm stopping in Va Beach, Myrtle area and JAX, then staying near Melbourne FL all winter.
@@dangingras3498 cool... send me an email when you are coming, I surf in Canaveral all the time in the winter with the more northerly winds. supthecreek@gmail.com Looking forward to see you then!
Hey Rick love your videos, are you wearing a wetsuit top?. I live in Gold Coast, Queensland Australia and just boaght a holiday house in Tasmania, so water temps 19deg c winter Gold Coast compared to 12 degrees Tasmania. I only wear boardies and a 2 mm top on the Gold Coast and boaght a new 4/3 wetsuit for Tassie but hate getting it on, I’m nearly 65 and ride a custom 8’6 Placid.
Thanks Dean, glad you liked it! Yes... 2mm top which was plenty for that water and even the air, but the wind and lack of sunshine sucked all the heat out of my core. At those temps, if it was sunny with normal winds, I usually don't even wear the 2 mm top. Taz has a pretty vibrant SUP crew, and I have known several through my TH-cam and forums... have a blast down there!!!
Hi lonbordin... I head south for the cold months, so I haven't picked up a new suit. My last wetsuit is a 5mm, fully Fire fleece lined and super stretchy, but I am not in that kind of cold anymore. Maybe I'll pick up a 2mm suit for days like this one, because you are right.... so much better suits now!
Hi Roland.... Cape Cod. The local enforcers keeps the crowds down. We have one of the largest populations of Great Whites in the world.... and they hunt seals inside the surf zone. Everywhere else in New England is insanely crowded but a lot are no longer willing to surf here, so I have grown an appreciation for our gray shadows.
13 degrees Celsius in both water and air, and without a wetsuit-now that's what I call tough! My total respect to you. I love your videos; keep it up!
Thanks Utcas... I have a bigger desire to surf without the wetsuit than I have to wear it! 🙂
Thanks for watching, I appreciate your support!
Nice waves with off shore wind! Wellfleet? Rock on Rick!
@@nivekyerac actually a tad south of there 🤐

Was super fun out there yesterday morning. Got wayyy too crowded with about 40 guys out, though!
Yikes! I snuck away down the beach for some empty lines, but it was an awesome day!
I think he's still wearing the Birdwell Beach Britches he bought from Jasper's in '71. Some nice rides Rick.
ha ha.... Thanks Steve, actually Balsa Bill's Baggies. Billy used to own Sundek and was a yearly visitor to Jasper's with Jim Jenks who created OP!
