    What license do you need

    • @inflatableangling
      @inflatableangling 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, it depends which country you are in, but in the UK, you need a Ship Portable Radio Licence for your VHF Radio. You can also do several different powerboat courses that train you up and provide a licence, but that is not required by law.

    What kind of licence do you need when you have a inflatable boat with a small engine?

    • @inflatableangling
      @inflatableangling 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, this will depend heavily on which country you are in. Can only speak about UK waters. Some parts of the UK require you to register a sib and outboard when in harbours/ports and also some freshwater rivers and broads also require you to register your boat. Many other parts of the UK coast and sea do not require any licence for your boat. So you just have to look at your local area and see what the law is there. You do always need to register your VHF radio though, so make sure you do that.

    I did this. It worked. Rather than one of those plastic clip luggage strap, I used cam buckle strap, seemed like the safer option. I put bits of rubber between transducer and tube as well as between cam buckle and tube. Used a plastic food tub for the battery just like this, padding it out inside with stiff foam to hold the battery tight. I screwed the Garmin mount into the tub lid and then strapped the battery tub onto the boat's bench, with a piece of rubber mat beneath it to hold it in place. I also put another strap around the box and mount in the other direction for insurance on the mount. I didn't get any image when moving at speed, were it mounted on the transom more towards the keel I suspect I'd have better chance of that. But you're typically not looking for fish at high throttle, right? I did all this, and through no fault of the unit, I STILL DIDN'T CATCH ANY FISH YESTERDAY arrrgh. It's not a magic box that will get you fish. It just tells you that fish are "around", because they are already gone from the spot you see them at. Marking a waypoint and trying (difficult) to head back to it does not do it. Also - 7ah battery didn't last nearly as much as I'd hoped - power the unit down and do periodic checks or processes rather than just leaving it on.

    • @inflatableangling
      @inflatableangling หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the write up! Very good to hear that it went OK for you. I typically only use it at low speed or when drifting to get the depth and to see what the seabed is doing. It's great for showing you hidden features, holes or structure down there that could hold fish. When there are a few fish directly below you then you will 100% see them as well!

  • @mikefule330
    @mikefule330 หลายเดือนก่อน

    All good tips. I would add: although the anchor goes over the bow when it is in use, stow it at the stern when not in use. It clatters about less. Those hinged wheels can be left in the neutral position so that they float on the surface of the water. Ever so slightly more drag than if they are fully raised, but they are less likely to be in the way of the engine when doing tight manoeuvres, and they are quicker to deploy when coming into the shallows solo. On a windy day, at very slow speed, the propeller effect makes the boat easier to turn one way than the other. Work with it: it's sometimes better to do an easy 270 degree turn than fight the wind to turn 90 degrees. Some boats have a drainage valve in the transom. Don't leave it open at low speeds or when anchored. Check and clean it from time to time. If you're setting up a boat with a sectional wooden floor, put the bow up on something (the fuel tank is ideal) before putting the last 2 sections in place.

    I would be interested to know what SIB/Outboard combination you would recommend for use by a photographer on rivers, primarily the Norfolk Broads (mostly 6mph limit I believe). One/Two man boats that can be carried in the back of car, assembled by one man and launched/retrieved by one man on a public slipway. The boat would need to carry 150kg (man and kit) and occasionally an additional passenger (70Kg). Any suggestions?

    • @inflatableangling
      @inflatableangling หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for your question. I'd personally recommend the Honwave T27 IE V floor with a 3.5 hp 4 stroke outboard for your situation. This would be suitable for use on the Norfolk Broads (you would need a bigger outboard if you want to go out to sea though). It is light enough for you to set up and launch solo. It will also pack down well and should fit in the back of most cars with the rear seats down.

    Hi Adam. Mind if I add to this? As the owner of Inflatable Boat Fishing Ltd and having designed the Hydrus boats. It doesn't look like you have done any research on these boats what so ever. Firstly the 3.3m air deck Hydrus starts at £1109 NOT £1200 putting it priced in 1st place . The 3.7m ally deck starts at £1319 NOT £1600 placing it in 5th place price-wise. In regards to weight. You also failed to mention that both of these SIBs are available in two carry bags halving the weight for both of them. A very important thing to consider when buying a SIB. It's a shame as you've never owned a Hydrus. You haven't even mentioned Boatworld SIBs. Probably the most well known out of all inflatable boats in the UK. I think you need to go back to the drawing board Adam. Just my opinion.

    • @inflatableangling
      @inflatableangling 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your input. I highly value your opinion. I did do alot of research and I used your website as the source for prices and weights of the Hydrus models. I formed my opinion based on the Pro versions of each for the price which is accurate, I felt that the Lite options, although very good, are actually a replica of the H1 model and are lacking the addons which make your Hydrus H7 Pro such a great offering! For the weight I used the total weight of the boat when set up to compare with the others in the list. I do however really like the two bags you offer for ease of transport. I didn't include Boatworld sibs in my list, perhaps I should have, but I just felt in my own opinion that they are not quite in the top 5 for mid range sibs right at this time. Once again, thank you for your comment. Really appreciate it 😀

    Had an aluminum floor. Hated the setup part. I'm retired and getting on my hands and knees trying to get everything to fit reaching and pulling was a total pain. Locking in those side rails was nuts. The whole time I'm doing it I am cursing the guy who invented this system with such tight tolerances. Now looking for a boat I just hook up to my pump to and get it done with. Also the point about getting stones or sharp objects under the floor is equally bad for both types of floor. Every time I tore down the boat there was tons of debris under the metal floor. I figure if I'm going air floor I just put three or four commercial carpet tiles trimmed just so over the inflatable floor. Then I don't have to worry about dropping something sharp, fish hooks, cigar butts etc. Problem in Canada is that everyone gets the metal floor type. Impossible to find a used inflatable floor boat and very few dealers sell them. No question the metal will last a lifetime but who boats that much.

And I get more punctures with the T40 because of small stones and shells that gather under the floor and then pierce the hull, the alloy floor is slightly better in rough water however like you say a pain to setup! Best option is a trailer but then you may as well have a small rib the t38 gets my vote my t40 is currently up for sale.

    Great video bro, one advantage of the aluminium floor is that in case of a punch it would give you a better chance of using your motor (if you have one) as it would keep the boat structure and the transom would stay at the correct angle, as long as your boat has multiple separate air tubes, if it makes sense...

      @inflatableangling 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Yes you are spot on. The aluminium floor will keep its rigidity in the event of a puncture. 👍

    I always carry a sea anchor and one gallon of wave oil as required by SOLAS 1974. Strongly recommended.

    Can you tell me how the strapping of the tranduser worked out attached to the tubes. I want to do the same. Thank you

      Hi, it works well for me! I ran the strap through the grab handle on the outside and clipped it on nice and tight.

    Excellent video, straight to the point and you're setting up so much faster than me. One question still, how will you be able to sharp steer with the wheels lifted up? Especially because I have a 3.5hp without reverse so I would need to fully turn the outboard for reverse? Cheers

    All good but number 1 has to be a PLB (PERSONAL LOCATOR BEACON) IF IT ALL GOES WRONG!

    • @inflatableangling
      @inflatableangling 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I agree a PLB is very important! I actually need to look into these and see what options are available. Thank you.
