    • @AllStarWeldingSC
      @AllStarWeldingSC 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      There are so many variables as to when and why. That's when your expertise and practice will come into play. Instead of practicing just on flat pieces on your work table, change things up a bit. Set some pieces vertically. Hang a piece of the edge of your table, get down on your knees and practice welding underneath it. Practice thinner pieces to thicker pieces. There's really no theory to it. Just practicing and remembering what works and what doesn't.

    To be clear, this machine uses the 35/70 connectors, correct? Not only do i want to grab a tig torch, but also run longer/heavier leads. And one more question, what is the thickest steel you've welded with stick on this machine? I'm hoping to start doing some weld repairs in my off time from tugboats. Lots of farm equipment and whatnot in my area, and lots of people need welding repairs done.

    • @AllStarWeldingSC
      @AllStarWeldingSC 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, 35/70, the big ones. For that video, I messed up when I built that tig torch and ordered 35/50, and it would go in the connection, but was too short to twist and lock it. So I had to re-make it. For leads..... I use Flex-A-Prene #1 wire. I have 20ft on ground, and 30ft in the stinger. I also carry two 50ft extensions that I can drop in if I need to. So far, I haven't had to use them. About 2 years ago, I built a pintle hitch plate for a dump truck. It was 1" plate. But, asking max thickness is irrelevant. With beveling and multiple passes, I could do 5" thick if I wanted to. There's not really a maximum thickness. When a welding machine states a maximum thickness, that's on a single pass. This Outlaw will burn up to 5/32 rods, so it's up to you.

    • @jamesraulerson583
      @jamesraulerson583 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I appreciate the feedback. I'm trying to find the 35-70 connectors online. Going to grab some 1/0 so if I ever need to go up to a 250 machine, I'll have the leads for it. I see 35-50s everywhere. My Tweco stinger from welding school (12 years ago) has the LC40 on it, so finding the adapters is twice the excitement. Your videos on this machine definitely persuaded my purchase. I'll be using for a while before/if I decide to upgrade. Again, much appreciated.

    I been considering plasma cutter but I find it hard to justify when I have an oxy acetylene set up. Still great quality video, I like that its not squeezed into 10 minutes and actually covers the finer details. Subscribed

    • @AllStarWeldingSC
      @AllStarWeldingSC 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comments. When I got through editing, I saw it was 49 minutes long! Longest video I've ever made. So I learned how to do the chapters. I don't use acetylene anymore. I switched over to propane 2 years ago and I love it. I had a guy pop in yesterday that needed 1 1/4" plate cut. He laughed when I said I was using propane. When I was done, he complimented me on how well I knew my trade. Hahaha. Plasma still has a home in my shop. Last year I made 65 Jack-o'-lanterns for Halloween out of freon tanks. Plasma was the ideal setup for that. One handed operation, straight clean cuts.

    • @autumnjeserich2689
      @autumnjeserich2689 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm sure i will make the change to propane eventually. I got the oxy acetylene set up with tanks for 50 bucks at a swap meet like 5 years ago and the tanks haven't run out yet. I mostly use it to heat straighten/shrink or bend things. I do car related fabrication mostly so mostly work with sheet metal that cuts pretty well in the bandsaw or cut off wheel. Plasma definitely has the advantage in clean cuts and saving time. I can't even wrap my head around how cheap they've gotten

It was my first time doing that too, so I had to do some research to figure out how to do that so that TH-cam would recognize it. It wasn't that hard to do, so I will be able to do it again on the longer ones. It was supposed to be loaded before dinner on Sunday, but that didn't happen. I started around 10am, and before I knew it, it was 3pm. Then, editing took about 4 hours. By the time it was ready to upload, it was so late, I let it upload while I went to bed. I got up really early this morning to make the Thumbnail, upload that, then do all the TH-cam stuff. I think I got it online by 9am. I may do one more very small video before closing out the year.

      Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. It helped a little, but the main problem is with my camera. But, when I have time, I will be experimenting again with my camera settings.

    Is it necessary to hook up the earth ground underneath the welding power on off button?

    • @AllStarWeldingSC
      @AllStarWeldingSC 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You know, there is a lot of debate about that.... Mine is bolted down to my truck bed, and it's isolated from the truck. I like it that way so that if I put my leads on my tailgate, I won't accidentally arc. It also keeps things isolated from my batteries and electronics. But that's just me. But if you think about it, grounding to the truck wouldn't make it past the tires anyway. Now, if you have it hooked up to your house, who knows? Maybe someone will chime in and shed some light on this. But for me, I don't.

      And, to turn on the 220v plug, the "Welding Power" switch needs to be on.

    Well done, was that sample ran on 110/220?

    • @AllStarWeldingSC
      @AllStarWeldingSC 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question. The first sample was 1/8" diamond tread steel turned upside down. If you look closely, you can see 3 spots where it cut through the tread design. It looks like dross blobs, bút it's not. That one was cut on 110v. The second sample was 1/4" plate, and was on 220v. Most small units like this, will max out around 35amps on 110v. To get the full 50amp, it will need the 220v supply. That's not a limitation of the Vevor unit. That's just pretty much a universal expectation of any small plasma machine such as these. I'm working on a video right now that will be all about plasma. I hope to have it posted this evening before dinner

    I have a cut 50 P. From another company looks like the exact same machine.VEVOR has an evolution type chopsaw was curious if it’s any good do you have any experience with it?

      Not sure. I have 2 different saws that are both Evolution. I'm sure that the Vevor saw would be fine

    Happy birthday (one day late)! I’ve been working on Xmas presents, one of which involved welding a bracket to hold a 14” pinwheel for my 2 year old granddaughter. I used my Titanium 125 but was careful to keep the stickout to about 1/4”. I had virtually no splatter, much different than my prior welds! Yeah! Thanks for the reminder to not drink then drive. I saw the results of those poor choices so many times over my law enforcement career, and not just focused over the holidays. I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

      @AllStarWeldingSC 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the birthday wishes, Rick. I appreciate it. I'm glad your welding is getting better. Yes, the key is that stickout. If you get blobs on the end of your contact tip, you're just a little too close. 1/4" sounds good. I can't remember what the manual suggested, but I'm sure it was too much, haha. And supporting your hand is key to good welds too. Have a great Christmas. I'm working on another video for Sunday evening that will be all about plasma cutting. Should be interesting.

      It's pretty dang good. It will stand up to my Primeweld Cut50DP any day. If you order one, please use the link in the description so I can make a buck or two, and you save 5%. I just looked up the consumables kit on Amazon for the AG60, it was a large set for only $22. I'm going to make a video tomorrow all about plasma, how it works, the differences, air requirements, how to use, tips and tricks, etc. Keep an eye out for it

    I took Advantage of the harbor freight sale. I bought the 125 welder. I was watching your video and i would stop it go out in the shop a try each one of those welds. I seem to be better at little circles. I'm going to practice each weld in case i need them. I want to practice on the bed of my truck and tach weld metal patches. I know I have to space out my tachs so don't worry about that. Thanks for the video. I'll be back.
