The “backseat JJ” sketch is so bad, it’s actually good 😂 love it! Shame Volvo, like of most manufacturers, are ending production of saloons in favour of SUVs
I have the 2015 D4. Lots of fantastic features. The cream leather with sunroof feels much more luxurious than the black leather looks. I leave all the safety features on, and they rarely bother me. MPG more like 40mpg around town but could get up to 60mpg on a very frugal slow motorway run. I have the auto (8 speed) and it does include a sports mode with manual gear change if needed. Very relaxing to drive and not one issue or complaint after 5 months of ownership. PS. the adaptive cruise control works to a complete stop, and to re activate the cruise mode from a stop, press the reset button. No need to use accelerator or brake even in city driving. I've done it once or twice but it feels very strange!!!
I think the cream leather would suit this car better, I think it's what I'd go for if I had the choice. Glad to hear you like the car. Being able to use it in slow traffic is the best feature of adaptive cruise, so it's good to know that this car will let you do that :) Didn't have time to test that out
Great review, very interesting. Speaking as a retired tweedy former geography teacher, I wholeheartedly endorse your enthusiasm for the S60 D5. Thank you 🌞🌞👍👍
I had one of these for 7 years, by far the longest I’ve owned any car. Had a T4 180 which used the same engine as a Fiesta ST of the time. Decent car, found it very difficult to replace as it did everything well and had lots of equipment that a lot of modern cars don’t actually have. Mine had a few niggles over the years but most cars do…the worst was needing a new blower motor which meant the dashboard needed to be taken apart and it was very expensive
Great review, what an underrated car this is. I have an S60 T6 R design AWD myself which is my second Volvo, and it's sooo much fun and ideal for cruising (+ you don't see them so much especially in France)
Great review. I love my T5 2018 R-Design as well. Mine is in Ice White color. Got compliments all the time. Looks classy and sportier in a Volvo and unique way. The sitting position and seats are HEAVEN. Got everything I need.
I bought the estate US version, 2016 Premier T5 AWD 5cyl 250hp for 18500US as a CPO (37KMiles)in 2019 and added the 10-year (in service date- 2016-2026) unlimited mileage Extended Warranty for another 2K and Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. I have put 42K miles and Overall, I am very pleased with the performance and style. Inclement weather is where it really shines. I have fit 5 ppl but they weren't happy, 4 is OK. The trunk is small but it works for me.
Great informative review, but you don't cover the Volvo infotainment screen which presumably incorporates Sat Nav probably because of tge aftermarket item that leaves us intrigued as to what it does especially as it must be an improvement. Perhaps the owner Daniel could share that info..
Having owned a 2015 S60 Polestar for 4 months one thing really bugged me, it was the position of the electric lumbar switch on the seat base by the B pillar, which is virtually impossible to see or adjust. After 4 months I've only just discovered the switch which is a good 5cm behind the other seat switches, you'll need to slide the seat all the way forward just to see it. 🇦🇺
We have a 2015 V40 T3 R Design and the ride is quite firm. Our 2015 XC60 D5 AWD does around 44 MPG and it's mainly used on the motorway; it could be better but my mum likes to drive it fast haha
Had the D4 model for many years. Best looking exec salon (imho) but I was disappointed with the ride quality which was below what I expected without a benefit to the handling which was mediocre at best, especially when compared to my previous car, a diesel BMW 3 series. The fuel economy was again average, I’d routinely get ~ 45mpg from a 70:30 mix of motorway and urban roads. My previous 3 series was achieving nearly 60mpg on the same route. I also found the cabin noise to be intrusive and the engine almost tractor like in sound. Now it might sound like I hated the car, but far from it, I LOVED it, despite its flaws. Seats and stereo were superb, in fact the level of equipment was fantastic. Although, as with all salons, practicality can be compromised, and yes the boot is small for what is a fairly large car, the front passenger seat back folds completely flat by the touch of one lever which makes carrying very long items remarkably easy. Unlike most I loved all the electronic driving aids and other safety features; the BLIS blind spot system saved me on countless occasions on the motorway and I found the head up distance warning lights to be a brilliant way to keep you reminded of just how far away we should be from the car in front , especially when travelling at motorway speeds. I’d make them compulsory on all cars if I could! All in all a great and under looked alternative to the run of the mill Audi/BMW/Mercedes offerings. Great review as always 👍🏻 PS - that electronic handbrake was frustratingly counterintuitive and even after having the car for over 4 years it still bugged me! 😂
Cheers mate, thanks for a different view point! I can see how it might not have felt the best to drive having come from a 3 series, which is top of the leaderboard for exec car handling :) Lol @ the handbrake, it really is weird isn't it 😂
Great review, reinforces my decision to buy a pre-loved S60! Would it be possible for you to share what product has been used for the infotainment upgrade to Android Auto? I really need this upgrade on mine too + a rear view cam
The original S60 was also marketed as the sporty Volvo at least in Sweden. In the ads they would drive up and down a parking garage because the cornering was so fun. In fact I saw more sporty ads for the first S60 than this one.
I’ll try and help out here….. I’d go with petrol, even if you’re doing a lot of mileage. The price of diesel is so expensive now, plus diesels need more TLC and are more unreliable. Things like DPF and EGR failing etc… you don’t save money with diesels anymore.
Hmm. Tricky one. I think they'd both be good cars for long distance travelling. Perhaps pick the one that feels most right for you, the design and style etc.
@@JJonCars thanks JJ, I’m going for the Mercedes here in Chile they are a good value keepers, otherwise I think both are splendid quality cars. Thanks for making the videos!!!
Great review this is ! I am looking at this car but the D4 version also a E class coupe like the one you reviewed f you were to compare the comfort level of both would you say that e coupe is way more comfortable?
Difficult to say, I think the E Class tends to have more adjustability in the seating though it depends on the spec of both cars. They have good ride quality but they're both good cars for comfort. I don't think you'd be upset with either! I'd have to test them back to back to know for sure 😃
always found this s60 better looking and more unique than the equivalent 3 series or merc. kinda feels bit more special defiantly getting one after i finish college hopefully.
The “backseat JJ” sketch is so bad, it’s actually good 😂 love it! Shame Volvo, like of most manufacturers, are ending production of saloons in favour of SUVs
Haha! Yeah it really is a shame, hard to believe that they are no longer selling estates of any kind in the UK :(
Had Volvos from 2007, and I have never had a problem with the five models I have had, hand on heart, a brilliant built car worth every penny.
The first one to comment! That's one thing ticked off my bucket list JJ.
What a great looking motor. That may be one to consider for the future.
😂 I knew you'd manage eventually. Yes, great looking car for sure. Not as forward looking/thinking as your CT though!

Good video mate. Subbed. This was one of the first cars I ever reviewed as I owned it. Such an underrated car.
Cheers! Subbed back :D

Thank you. Oh man, the S80 V8, yes please!

I think new volvos look much better than any kia except maybe for stinger gt. Volvo S60/S90/V60/V90 all look good.
